Vinaya

I sit across the dining table and mom and dad stare at me.

"Um what"? I ask them.

"Vinaya". Dad sighs.

"Your teacher told us about your performance on the surprise test you had the other day. And you scored only 12 out of 20"? Mom says.

I gasp.

"And you know what I have decided. If this keeps going, you're not allowed to go to the library anymore".

I am completely taken aback by these words. Just because I didn't score much on the test that wasn't even informed about before, doesn't mean I'll sacrifice my hobby for it.

"Then what about the party? You both can call Allysa right this minute and tell her you won't let me come since I have scored less in the test and I'll study".

I wasn't interested in going at this party anyway.

"That's a different thing Vinaya. You need to socialise with good status people. It's a chance to get some knowledge about such things".

"I'll.. I'll study harder from now on dad. Please tell mom to not stop me from going to the library please".

"Why are you asking your dad? Your further performance is going to decide that. If you still don't improve, I won't let you visit the library anymore".

I hesitate. But I've got no choice anyway. I just agree and start eating. I was too hungry but our family discussions are always taking place at the dining table.

And while doing so, I do a quick check to see if Allysa replied or not.

What. I chock on my food.

No way I sent it to Aarav in place Allysa!!
Now I get it... I sent it by typing the first letter... A. Urgh. Why am I so dumb?

And it's not even any use to delete the text anymore, he has already replied with something.

"Life is beautiful in shades of blue, be it the sky, the ocean, or a dress".

What..??

Heat is blowing off from my face, although the air conditioning is working just fine, my face is all heated up. Why would he reply with a quote? He could just simply said he liked the blue dress more.

So it would be rude to say it wasn't meant to be sent to him but someone else and I sent it by accident. I reply back to him "" Okay haha. Thankyou for the suggestion".💕

I try to hide my stupid smile and act normally in front of my parents, like nothing happened to me right now.

6th Of July

Ryan
(10:30 A.M)

I come out of the shower with a towel wrapped around my waist and look at myself in the mirror. Why the heck am I trying so much? I feel like I have to make an impression today. I've always been liked for my looks, so I've always been confident with it, but today I am feeling something else. Nervousness.

I get dressed in formal clothes, a not-so-fancy white shirt with blue jeans. I have a thing for rings so I wear some in my left hand along with the earpiece in the left ear which is pierced. My hair is a mess right now, which I am going to take care of later when it's about to begin.

Later~ (The Party)

The house is filled with all my business partners, college mates, old friends and a lot of other acquaintances. Allie did actually take care of everything, from the decorations to the material & people. The guards invite them in and I greet everyone, my mom & dad are here greeting the guests too. Whereas, Allie is nowhere to be seen, and neither has Vinaya arrived yet. She's going to come, right?

I am just standing there being the centre of attention in the crowd, when I finally notice Vinaya & Allie making their way up the stairs into the party room. I gulp, looking at her. She hasn't seen me looking at her yet so I stare at her and look up and down. I've always seen her in casual clothes, when she's at the library. But that blue dress sure is breathtaking.

That's my time when she finally lock eyes with me as Allie must have told her where I was. And then she makes her way over to me while smiling.

"Hello Mr Ryan"!

"Hii Ms Vinaya".

"Happy Birthday".

"Thankyou".

That's it. She goes back to Allie and she introduces her to our parents. They already know her? I'll ask them later.

The music is turned on and everyone's enjoying on their own. I am just standing at a corner siping some wine remembering how I was formally introducing my girlfriend to everyone the last time. How we sneaked out of my own birthday party on the rooftop & laughed so much. Hah. So cringe.

My thoughts come to end when allie drags me to the center.

"Ryan.. We all know you have a secret talent with the guitar. Won't you play it today"?

She told me beforehand about this. To play the guitar Vinaya has brought and impress her. I think it's time to actually do it.

"That guitar isn't sounding anymore Allie".

"What do you mean? That old sick one? Oh lol I am not talking about it. You have a new one now".

"A new one"?

Vinaya lifts the guitar wrapped in black covering up and hands it to me.

"Um Mr Ryan, consider this as a gift from my side".

And everyone starts hooting, Telling me to play it. Allie is smirking and everyone's waiting for me to play the new guitar I got as the gift.

"Okay. I'll play it". I say.

I slide the guitar onto my chest and take a moment to check the functions. Exactly the one I am used to play. Then finally I start to play " Something Going On's" tune which I have never played in front of anyone before. I know she'll like it.

When I complete playing it, everyone's hooting & clapping. & I glance at Vinaya, who looks taken aback by what I just played. The look on her face is the identification that she liked it.

Vinaya

I am amazed. Mr Ryan plays this professionally? I mean this is something supposed to be a hobby for him, but he can make a whole business out of it! Performing in front of people. Someone who's this good looking and with a talent like that would surely rock! I should take inspiration from Mr Ryan he's such a talented person.

"Vinaya what do you think"? Allysa asks me.

"Mr Ryan plays so much better than I expected Allysa".

"Come let's get dinner".

"Allysa" Her mom calls out for her.

"You go first okay". She says.

"Mhm okay".

As expected I am having trouble in finding where to go in this big mansion and end up walking towards the gallery. And suddenly I see a girl who's rushing into the house and notices me.

"Do you know where Ryan is"? She asks me.

"Um he must be in the party room". I say.

"Can you please do me a favor"?

" Yes what is it"?

"Can you go tell him to come up at the rooftop"..

"Ah sure. What's your name"?

"No need to tell my name. Just tell him to come upstairs".

She runs up the stairs onto the rooftop. And I go back in the party room to find Mr Ryan.

Ryan

I am surrounded by all my college mates and they keep putting up different questions to me.

"So who's the girl who gifted you the guitar Ryan"? One of them asks me.

"Guys. She's just Allysa's friend". I say.

" Oh really then introduce me to her". Another says.

"Shut the hell up".

Urgh. This is just exhausting. Exactly why I don't like gatherings. This keeps going until I see Vinaya making her way towards me.

Shoot. Not a good timing Vinaya. But it's still fine if it's you. Is she going to talk with me? They all look at me teasingly.

"I am sorry to disturb you all but Mr Ryan can you please give me a moment"?

I chuckle. " Excuse me guys".

I go to a corner with her.

"Yes. Ms Vinaya. Do you want to talk? Shall we go somewhere else"?

"Oh. No. I am just here to tell you that someone is looking for you".

"Who"?

" I don't know.. She didn't tell me her name Or anything, just told me to tell you to meet her on the rooftop".

What!? Is it her...? How in the world would she even come in though. I specially ordered the guards to not let her in.. Maybe it's not her and someone else. Yes.

"Thank you Ms Vinaya. I'll go check".

I head upstairs, thinking about who it must be.
