Aarav

It's been two days since I've started working at Sahil & Co. Comparing to how I was feeling about work earlier with now, I can say that I was worrying too much. Maybe things do actually work out sometimes. That's because the work isn't too tough, it's easy actually.

I expected to receive a text from Vinaya, she was so excited that day when she came along with me but didn't even contact me once after that. I wonder why? But I'm not in any position to be upset about it.. It's none of her business after all. Besides she already did help me a lot by getting me the job I can't be grateful enough to her.

Maybe she found it to be not a very big deal? I'll go to the library today anyway.

Today
4:30 P.M

As soon as I enter the library I do see Vinaya.. But she's with that girl again. It's always better when she's not around. But unfortunately she is sitting with her and they are chatting. Vinaya didn't even take a notice of me. Wow. Sighs.

I don't go to greet them either, I look at the shelve to find the book I was reading the other day, and take a seat far in the row she's seated in. No. I am not mad. Not at all. (Turns the pages back & forth)

I can't take a proper look at her from here and neither can I hear their voices. But I notice that Allysa girl glancing at me. She glances at first, it's fine. But.. Then she points her finger to me saying something to Vinaya. Wow that's such a rude thing to do when the person you're pointing at knows you're pointing at them and you still do that.

And then Vinaya finally notices, she doesn't respond to that girl and makes her way over to me which takes me aback. I flinch. Oh god she's coming this way. The beats of my heart increase with her each step which is bringing her closer. I hope she doesn't notice how much nervous I got.

"Hey Aarav".

"Hello Vinaya.

I drag a chair next to mine so we can start a conversation. The moment I see her I totally forgot I was mad. All my sad emotions disappear completely when I look at her and I try to start off a conversation one way or the other. .

"Take a seat first, Vinaya".

"Uh. No it's fine. Allysa's waiting for me.. I just wanted to ask you if things are okay at work"?

And suddenly all my excitement to talk to her about certain things come to an end. I am so disappointed.

"No need to worry. Things are pretty good. And I think your dad is a very outgoing & friendly person".

"He'll be flattered to know that".

"Thanks to you Vinaya.. And do say thanks to your dad too".

"No need he's impressed by you anyway".

She points towards her seat and I nod. We don't talk about anything other than that today.

Vinaya

Whenever someone tries to get closer to me, I tend to distant myself from them.
Not because I don't want them to get attached to me, but because I don't want myself getting attached to someone.

Because once I get attached it's hard to move on. And this is something I least expect to happen in my life.

So be it Aarav or anyone else, I don't want to get emotionally attached with them. I'll keep my distance from him.

Besides, the thing because of which we got closer was work, I helped him to get the job, so there's not anything more to it. Things should turn back to how they were exactly before he got the job. We should be minding our own business like before. I come to the library for reading, after all.

"Vinaya why did you go to him. Isn't he the one who comes to you"?

"I was just asking him if things are okay at work".

"And why did you refuse to sit next to him"?

"There's no reason to talk anymore".

"Really"?

I ignore her and look through the pages of the book. What's Aarav doing? Is he reading? I peak a little glance at him from the sideway of the book to find that he's actually lost in the book. I guess I don't need to hide. Then I take a proper look. Yes. This is exactly how we were before. He kept immersed in his book and I looked at him without him knowing.

6:30 P.M

I close the book off. Aarav left already around half an hour earlier. Allysa's still here although she went away for some time to meet her boyfriend outside the library. She told me to keep a check if Mr Ryan comes in here so I would tell her and she comes back in. But there wasn't the need for me to do that. Mr Ryan isn't around today. Oh right. I forgot about the surprise party.

"When was the surprise party again"?

"6th Of July Vinaya. And it's the day after tomorrow".

"Ohh.. Do you really want me to come"?

"Are you saying you aren't coming"!

" No no I am not saying that. It's just a little weird to be at your brother's party".

"You'll be with me all the time. Don't worry. Besides this is going to be the most fun party you've ever been to".

"Haha okay I'll come".

"Yayyy! You can't go back off now".

"So.. What gift should I bring for Mr Ryan? What type of gifts does he usually like"?

"Hmmm... Let me think. You know what Ryan has a secret hidden talent of playing guitar. He always uses the same old guitar tho for God knows why. I did thought of gifting it to him but he would refuse me to"

"So should I gift him a guitar? What type of guitar does he play"?

" No no Vinaya you don't need to buy something so big for him. Just bring a small gift he doesn't mind at all".

"No. Since I am coming, I will come with a nice gift".

"You know what Vinaya? Ryan's going to be so happy if you gift him a guitar. He always refuses to buy a new one but if you gift him, I am sure he'll leave that sick old guitar and stick to the new one".

"He plays a donner Electric one". Says Allysa.

"Yes okay".

I wonder how he plays like?
