Narcissa let her mother try and talk her way through some of the parents, to see if they could sway their minds of Andromeda's decision. To not blame Narcissa or think that she is in any way like her sister, Bellatrix however was no help at all, she had only come to socialise and belittle others around her.

Narcissa wanted some comfort from her family, and her sister wasn't about to help with that, she spotted her cousins Sirius and Regulus laughing with their friend. She approached them, to which they stopped laughing a straightened their posture.

"Relax, I'm not going to snitch," she reassured them,

"What are you drinking?" she asked, Sirius put his drink behind his back

"Nothing," he said, Narcissa took the drink from him, smelling the drinking

"Firewhiskey, you're mother will chastise you," Narcissa said,

"Are you going to tell on me Cissy," Sirius mocked

"I told I'm not going to snitch on you, I could use a drink to steady my nerves-

"No, you need to be at your best," Sirius and Regulus friend said, taking the drink from Narcissa

"Yes, Aimee's right, you'll be fine," Regulus said, he looked around the ballroom

"Would you like to dance with me Miss Black," Regulus said, extending his hand for Narcissa

"This is lame, but I accept your offer for a dance Mr Black," Narcissa took Regulus' hand as he leads her out into the ballroom.

Regulus spun Narcissa around to the music, the pair were joined by Sirius and Aimee who danced together. The two couples had given others the confidence to join, Theodore Nott had asked Rebekah Avery to dance with him, to which she gladly accepted.

Phoebe Rosier and asked by Perseus Parkinson for a dance, Narcissa looked around for Helene but she had snuck away somewhere most likely with a guy who had caught her eye. Bellatrix and her husband joined in with the dance though they always seemed like it was just a routine to keep up appearances.

Narcissa knew that Bellatrix and Rodolphus didn't have a happy marriage, but saw it as their noble right to marry into two lengthy pureblood lines, the Black and the Lestranges. Sirius had snuck away to the garden with his friend, Regulus left to go and find them, Narcissa walked towards the side to take a seat.

Narcissa spotted Helene appearing room the other side of the ballroom, she made her way across the dance floor, gracefully dodging the wizards and witches who were enjoying their dance. Narcissa knocked into a woman, she apologised to her, as she turned around she bumped into someone chest almost falling back.

"I got you," the person spoke, reaching for her hand, Narcissa looked up, 'what was he doing here?' she thought.

"I believe a thank you is in order," he said with a smirk wide across his face.

"What are you doing here Malfoy?" Narcissa asked

"I was invited," he said

"To see me," Narcissa questioned

"Don't flatter yourself Ciss, my father dragged me here, I wasn't going to come," he said,

"I do have to admit, you do clean up nicely," she commented,

"And you look beautiful as always," Lucius said,

"Would you care to accompany me on the dance floor," he cocked an eyebrow at her

"I haven't danced with anyone who isn't my cousin," she said, he sighed

Lucius took Narcissa's hand to the dance floor, all eyes were on them, whisper began to fill the ballroom, though they were drowned out by the music. Narcissa wondered why Lucius was giving her the time that others wouldn't, she didn't complain at least someone wasn't looking at her with disgust.

After they finished dancing, Lucius stepped away from Narcissa, she also left the dance floor though it was nice to have some guy dance with her. Lucius walked towards a seated area, her took a glass of champagne, though he was avoiding mothers like the plague, Lucius was joined by Nott, who had been dancing most of the ball with Rebekah.

"Who would have thought you would show up here," Nott said, "going to woo Narcissa are you?"

"No, I'm not getting back it that again," Lucius said, Theodore rolled his eyes

"Why not, Narcissa is a beautiful lady," Theodore commented

"I've been there done that," Lucius said "if she's so beautiful why don't you go after her,"

"I've got my eye on her friend Bekah Avery," Theodore said, gazing over that the beautiful young witch, Lucius and Theodore cringed when they spotted a mother approaching them.

"Lucius, what a pleasure it is to see you," Theodore snuck away when he realised she didn't want him.

"Pleasures all mine Mrs Crouch," Lucius said, placing a kiss upon her knuckles.

"May I introduce my daughter-

"Actually, Mrs Crouch, I'm just heading over to talk to Miss Black," Lucius said, walking away from the lady.

Lucius left the conversation walking over to Narcissa with a glass of champagne for her, Narcissa creased her brows when Lucius handed her a drink. Narcissa saw Sirius and Aimee coming back from the garden, with big smiles on their faces.

"Narcissa, I just want you to know that I'm trying to avoid the mothers, I hope I don't give you the wrong idea," Lucius told her.

"I don't mind, since you danced with me, other gentlemen have taken an interest in me, they clearly willing to compete with you,"

"Hmm," he said, thinking for a moment,

"What if we could help each other?"

"What do you have in mind, Malfoy,"

"Well, I have no desire to marry, you want the perfect suitor," Lucius began "what do you say we act as though we're courting, then mothers will back off, and guys will want your attention,"

"That sounds like a barbaric idea," Narcissa said "but it could work," Lucius grinned

"Well then, may I have this dance, Miss Black,"

"The pleasures all mine Mr Malfoy,"
