Chapter 5 Part 7: Exploring the Bunker

Your POV:

We all managed to get into what was now known as the "Exisal Bunker" with help from Monokuma. It was said that this area was useless now just because the Monokubs weren't here to control the Exisals.
I knew I was confused on why Monokuma even showed all of us this area. I couldn't understand it one bit, but he left before I could even mention something about that.
Miu was having an argument with Tsumugi, and like always, Miu always had a dirty remark ready. It's not like I could change how Miu spoke to others, but it would make this investigation more interesting. I did know it was time to investigate. I knew we had to focus.
"I hate to break up the chitchat, but we should really be investigating," Rantaro explained, "I'm talking about you, Miu."
"Maybe you should take some time to investigate (y/n) in her most sacred places," Miu replied with a lustful look on her face.
While Miu was making that look, I had a shocked expression on my face. All Rantaro did was tell Miu to focus on investigating, but now, she was telling him that he should be investigating my unmentionables. This reminded me about what she was saying when she wanted us to go into the Virtual World. I honestly thought she would've learned not to say stuff like that about me, but I guess not.
"Miu, don't say stuff like that," Rantaro spoke, "if you even upset my girlfriend, you aren't going to like what I have to say."
"Heeeeee!" Miu exclaimed in response, "okay, f-fine! I won't say anything about (y/n) anymore..."
"See, that wasn't so hard, was it?" Rantaro asked with a small smile, "alright, now we need to investigate."
I nodded lightly in response to his words. I knew Rantaro was trying his best to be there for me. He always did that, and it made me feel safe with him. Even in an environment like this, I felt safe when I was with Rantaro.
"So, princess, what would you like to investigate first?" Rantaro asked.
    "Let's see..." I trailed off.
I found myself looking around after those words came out of my mouth. I honestly had no idea what to investigate first. Maybe I should go with something that I could easily figure out.
I was still looking around, when I saw something. There was an area in this room that actually reminded me of something in the real world. Anyone could've mistaken it for a car wash. It had the scrubbers, full of bright color. It really was like seeing something from the real world.
"Hey, Rantaro, that looks like a car wash," I explained, pointing at the area my eyes were in contact with, "I think it's to clean the Exisals, but it still reminds me of car washes."
"You're right about that, princess," Rantaro replied, "too bad I don't like cars that much. I prefer not to use them..."
I could feel myself glance up at Rantaro as those words came out of his mouth. When he mentioned that he disliked cars, I found myself knowing another thing about Rantaro. Rantaro basically knew my whole life story from the beginning. He knew much more about me than I did of him. I wanted to get to know Rantaro more like he got to know me. There was just one question on my mind.
"Why do you dislike cars, Rantaro?" I asked, "don't tell me you got into a car accident!"
"It's not anything like that, so don't worry," Rantaro laughed in response, "I can't put my finger on it right now, but there's just some reason I'm not fond of cars."
'I guess he doesn't know why he doesn't like cars...' I thought, 'and I thought I was going to find out more on why he doesn't like cars...'
I felt my cheeks puff up slightly as a response to Rantaro's words. I was frustrated not only because I wanted to get to know more things about him, but it was also because Rantaro seemed to not know much about himself. Whatever this may be... it might be connected to his talent somehow.
"...That seems comfortable," Keebo's voice chimed.
Rantaro and I found ourselves looking at Keebo in response to that. It wasn't just us either. Everyone who was with us in this room was staring at Keebo as he had his eyes set on the car wash area for the Exisals. Of course Keebo would say that. He was a robot after all. If I told him that, then he would say that I'm "Robophobic".
"...Comfortable, huh?" Shuichi asked nervously.
"Keebo, don't you dare go into that flimsy fuckin' car wash!" Miu exclaimed angrily, "I can clean you way better than that rusty ol' thing can!"
'Of course you would say that Miu...' I thought with a sigh, 'well, I guess I'm done investigating the car wash... I need to check somewhere else...'
I decided to start looking around this area again. Not far from the car wash area, there were what looked like robotic arms connected to a mechanism that could move it around. The end of it had some sort of spraying tool on it. My guess was that this mechanism was something used to paint the Exisals. Those things were huge, so it made sense on why a painting machine would be needed.
That wasn't the only thing that led me to think this was a painting machine. I could smell what smelled like spray paint and paint thinner. It felt like my nostrils were burning from the pungency. It was basically similar to opening nail polish and nail polish remover.
"That machine up there is probably used to paint the Exisals," Rantaro explained, "I mean you can differentiate the Exisals based off of the color. This machine is probably what colored them."
"I agree," Keebo replied, "this machine was probably used to paint the Exisals. If I wanted to, I could probably use this machine to give me a makeover."
"I don't think you need a makeover," Shuichi chimed in, "you're great just the way you are, Keebo!"
"Well, of course I am!" Keebo exclaimed.
If Keebo knew that he was perfect just the way he was, why did he feel the need to mention a makeover. I knew how it felt to feel like you needed a makeover to look better when in fact that wasn't true. Sometimes, self doubt could show itself, but if support is there, everything will be okay.
I knew that I needed to keep investigating this area. So far, I've covered the car wash area and the painting machine. There was definitely more to investigate, and there was something that I had a slight interest in investigating.
There was a huge and powerful machine to the right of where I was standing. It looked like it was some sort of hydraulic press. Perhaps this was used to scrap machine parts or even Exisals. I didn't really know much about machines like this. All I knew was the fact that it looked pretty dangerous to me.
"This thing is probably used to scrap the useless Exisal parts!" Miu exclaimed, "this hydraulic press is so big! I want to take it apart and see how it works!"
"Miu, you are right about the chances of this machine being used to scrap Exisals," Keebo explained, "after all, not even those things could survive being crushed by a giant metal slab. I don't think you should take apart the machine. Not yet anyway."
"True," Rantaro mused, "before we do anything, we need to make sure we have all of the information we can get from this place."
I knew Rantaro was right about that. We needed to investigate everything in here before we even think about using it or touching it in any way. There had to be some way to control this machine, and Keebo explained that there was a control panel for the hydraulic press.
I pulled Rantaro along with me in order to get a closer look at it. I found a panel with three different buttons. Two of them were blackish, while the button in the center was red. The two black buttons were used for up and down controls, while the red was an emergency stop button. There was also a safety notice written there as well.

"The hydraulic press has an infrared sensor. For safety reasons, this device will come to a halt when the sensor detects a living organism."

From what this safety notice was saying, I knew this machine wouldn't be dangerous to most of us. If this machine stops because of a living organism, there was lower chances of someone getting hurt with this device. If someone accidentally ended up in the press, the machine would stop My only concern was Keebo. I had no idea how the machine would react to him.
The others seemed to be discussing something about the sensors as I was thinking to myself. It seemed that a few of them were skeptical about this hydraulic press. It would make total sense to feel more relaxed because of the infrared sensor.
"Hey guys, what do you think?" I heard Keebo ask.
"Are you talking about the safety function?" Ryoma asked in response to that, "I don't know, so I can't help you there. I'm pretty sure everyone else feels the same way too."
"Then, why don't we give it a try?" Keebo asked.
"Give what a try?" I asked in response to that.
"Keebo what do you want to try out?" Kaede asked.
Keebo didn't answer us as the lot of us tried to ask what he was doing. He walked towards the hydraulic with a serious look on his face. I was confused as I watched him walk towards the press. I was cemented in place from shock. Soon enough, it seemed to click when I saw Keebo lay himself down on the hydraulic press.
I as well as Rantaro, Kaede, and Shuichi were standing where the control panel was. Everyone else was watching Keebo with uncertain eyes as he laid underneath the press. I didn't know what would happen? What if Keebo died?
"Shuichi, Rantaro, Kaede, (y/n)," Keebo spoke, "please..."
"Please what!?" I exclaimed in response.
"Calm down, princess, I think I know what he's trying to do," Rantaro replied, "I think he's trying to see whether the machine sees him as living or not."
"Rantaro is right," Keebo replied, "I wonder... if the press comes to a stop when it detects a person, what will happen if it detects me? Let's find out!"
I honestly felt quite nervous to be doing this. I knew Keebo wanted to see if the press could detect him as human or not, but what if he was crushed. I didn't think the sensor was going to work, so I was terrified that I would somehow murder Keebo.
"Are you sure about this?" Shuichi asked, "I don't know if the sensor will work..."
"S-Shuichi is right, Keebo!" I chimed in, "I don't want you to hurt yourself!"
"Don't worry guys," Keebo said, "if I sense any danger, I'll move out of the way. I just really want to try it out. If I don't, I'll never be able to rust in peace when I die."
'Rust in peace...' I thought.
I knew Keebo wasn't going to change his mind about this. That much was for certain. If this didn't work, I hoped that he would be able to save himself quickly. Shuichi seemed to come with the same conclusion, telling Keebo that we were going to do this. If he sensed any danger, he would move out of the way.
Keebo seemed to understand the concerned words of Shuichi, so he confirmed what he said he was going to do. He told us to start up the machine, being polite about it. Keebo was enthusiastic about this, and it was shocking to me somehow. It seemed to be shocking enough to get Shuichi to press the button.
I slowly watched as the hydraulic press slowly went down after Shuichi pressed the button. If I were the one under control of the control panel, I would have one of my hands over the emergency stop button. I noticed the Shuichi didn't have his hand over the emergency stop button. Everyone was watching silently, as the suspense from the slowness of the press was showing itself.
It looked to me like there was no way the press was going to stop. The machine kept lowering, enough to the point that I could no longer see Keebo. I could feel myself starting to freak out because the machine wasn't going to stop for Keebo.
Before the hydraulic press could even hit the base metal slab, I saw Keebo rolling off of metal slab, preventing himself from being crushed. He literally rolled off of the hydraulic press, and I was relieved that he was able to do that.
Keebo got up, and there was beads of sweat visible on his face as he stared up at Shuichi who was hovering over the control panel. I was slightly dazed from what I just saw. I never knew Keebo could be that fast, but he was.
"Th-That was a close one!" Keebo exclaimed.
"Y-Yes, it was!" Shuichi exclaimed in response to that, "why did you do that!?"
"Why didn't any of you press the *Force Stop* button!?"
"In all honesty, it's not anyone's fault Keebo," Rantaro explained, "you explicitly stated that you would get out of the way if you sensed danger. You don't need to get angry at anyone."
"Fine, I'll admit I did say that," Keebo replied, "at least we know now though... It seems I'm only perceived as a machine, not a human. Well, to this hydraulic press, that is..."
I looked to the side as I felt myself feeling bad for Keebo. He wanted to be a human, but a lot of things perceived him as just a machine. Even if Keebo was a robot, he was still human in my eyes.
We finished investigating the hydraulic press. I knew I needed to look around more, because there was still at least one thing we haven't investigated yet. Shuichi, Kaede, Rantaro, and myself got down from the area the hydraulic press control panel was. As soon as we all got down, I continued to look around the room.
I remembered seeing that small window before we made it to the shutter. There had to be an area where that window we saw was. My eyes glanced towards a bright blue door. I found myself wondering what the door was, and it seemed that the others took note of this as well. Before I knew it, we all were entering the blue door to see where it lead.
Once we walked into this blue door, I noticed many things that gave away what this room was. There was a sink and a toilet, as well as a mirror. These items had a futuristic look with all of the tubes. Parts of the room glowed a bright cyan, causing my eyes to squint slightly from the brightness.
This was a bathroom, and even though it was fitted with seemingly futuristic themes, this bathroom looked like it hadn't been used for awhile. In all honesty, that did make sense. We were probably the first people in this area. Monokuma and the Monokubs defiantly didn't need to use the bathroom. They are robots after all.
Shuichi seemed to notice this as well, but he was speaking up about it, while I was thinking. I wondered why there even needed to be a bathroom in a place like this. There was obviously no contact with humans in this area. A bathroom seemed kinda pointless here.
All of our group spent a little bit of time searching the bathroom. There was nothing in here that seemed to scream danger to anyone. Once we got out of the bathroom, I realized that this was all I could investigate. This was a bunker for the Exisals, and those said machines were deactivated.
"Gonta thinks there is no danger in here!" Gonta exclaimed, "Gonta can smash Exisals so friends can have advantage!"
"That's not a bad idea," Rantaro explained, "the Monokubs are gone, so that means the Exisals are no longer functioning, yeah? If that's the case, then we should defiantly find a way to turn the tables on Monokuma. With no defenses, he's practically a teddy bear."
I honestly knew Rantaro was right about that. I wasn't speaking much because I was thinking about what we were able to investigate. Since the Exisals were deactivated, Monokuma lost his line of defense. This meant that it would be a lot easier to overthrow him. This was still something we shouldn't go in blind for.
"I agree," I explained, "without the Monokubs here, the Exisals can't be used. This would be the perfect time to strike, but we can't go into this right away. We need a solid plan that we all know will work. We need a plan that will also guarantee everyone's safety."
"We should start planning soon then," Kaede stated, "however, if Monokuma is listening in on us, our plans will most likely fail..."
"That's why you need a gorgeous girl genius with a breedable body!" Miu exclaimed, "I gave a device to (y/n) that can scatter wavelengths and noise, but that was just a beta design. I'm sure I can whip something up a whole fuckin' lot better. Sadly, I have been pretty busy though."
"Busy with what...?" Tsumugi asked in response.
"Busy inventing shit!" Miu shouted in response, "machinery is my turn on, so you better bet your asses I'm inventing shit! Maybe I should get back into the invention that allows someone to eat while they sleep!"
"Perhaps we should focus on the camera issue," Tsumugi muttered in response.
"I-I hate to interrupt, but we should probably discuss all of this elsewhere," Shuichi stated.
I nodded in response to Shuichi, and so did everyone else. We couldn't just discuss everything in the Exisal hanger. Sure, the Exisals were deactivated, but we were still being watched by Monokuma.
We all decided to exit the Shutter without putting the electrical forcefield or motion sensor back into action. As soon as we exited the Shutter, we had to make our way back throughout the twists and turns of the building. It seemed to take much shorter time than the last because we knew more of the building now.
It seemed that as soon as we made it out of the new area, I saw Maki waiting for us. She had her arms crossed, seeming to wonder what exactly took us so long to get out of this new area.
"Finally you guys made it out," Maki muttered, "we need everyone to gather now, so please head to the dining hall. And no funny business..."
It looked like while I was in the Exisal Hanger with Shuichi, Kaede, Rantaro, Ryoma, Tsumugi, Miu, Angie, Gonta, and Keebo, the remaining few were probably able to find the Flashback Light. I was honestly wondering what we would remember this time. Chances were, it wasn't going to be a good thing. That much was true in terms to the Flashback Lights.
I knew we had to go to the dining hall. Maki wasn't one who liked people messing around when it came to stuff like this. The Flashback Light's were always serious if that's what this was about. Before I knew it, most of the group was gone, because they decided to hurry towards the dining hall. Basically the only ones who stayed behind was Rantaro, Shuichi, Kaede, and Kirumi. Everyone else was probably heading to the dining hall, so I knew we needed to go as well.
"I'm guessing Maki found the Flashback Light," Rantaro chuckled, "we should also mention what we found out from the Exisal Hanger."
"We should probably have Miu help us out too," Kaede added, "after all, she did give a device to (y/n). Chances are she'll probably give one to the rest of us to use."
"I agree," Shuichi replied, "but for now, we need to head to the dining hall. We need to meet up with everyone and see what they've found."
I nodded lightly in response to that. I found myself looking up at Rantaro who had a small smile. Things were starting to look up, and hopefully it would stay that way.
    "Let's go, princess~" Rantaro said.
I could feel myself growing bright red in response to that. Since I wasn't zoning out from thinking too much, I let my guard down. This caused my boyfriend to strike, making me flustered. I looked down with a nervous expression on my face as we all started walking to head to the dining hall.
"Whatever we might come up with as a plan, I really hope it reveals mastermind," Kaede said with a sigh, "when we first got here, I acted the way I did in order to find the mastermind. They obviously knew that happened, so they were able to avoid getting caught. That's why we have to plan carefully and without anyone listening in..."
"Perhaps I can help with that too," Kirumi stated, "we will need all of the help we can get for something like this..."
"I agree," Rantaro replied, "but perhaps we should change the subject."
I had a feeling I knew what Rantaro was talking about as soon as the words came out of his mouth. We couldn't talk about this right now because Monokuma was probably watching us. There were always monitors all around, as well as some cameras. They were watching us, so we needed something to prevent them from doing that. We needed to do it later.
For now, we needed to focus on meeting in the dining hall. We could plan later when we have the equipment we needed to keep the mastermind from finding out. Right now, we needed to see what this Flashback Light had in store for us.
That thought was ringing through my head as we walked through the doors of the outside entrance to the dining hall. We decided to take the outside entrance because it saved the walking time. That's always how it was. Maki wanted us to gather now.
My group entered the dining hall one at a time. Only one person could walk though that door at a time. It felt almost similar to the way it was in the Virtual World. Only one person could enter or exit a room at a time.
As soon as we got into the dining hall, I noticed that mostly everyone was here. Kokichi and Kiyo were still nowhere to be seen. Even though the two were missing, the meeting started.
"Tsumugi sent me out to spread the word," Maki explained, "so let's see what she has to say."
"Is everyone here!?" Tsumugi asked, "guys, it's serious!"
Kaito asked Tsumugi if she found the Flashback Light. He wanted to use it right away, and that much was obvious. Tsumugi regretted to inform us that it wasn't about the Flashback Light. Mostly everyone in the room had a frustrated look on their faces in response to that. A good few of the people were voicing their frustrations. Miu, Keebo, Tenko, and Himiko in specific.
"I found...something pretty serious," Tsumugi explained, "I thought I should tell everyone, right away..."
"What did you find?" Shuichi asked.
"Those letters Gonta found in the courtyard..." Tsumugi explained, "there's more added to them again."
"There more letters!?" Gonta asked, "Gonta was so upset that he stay in his room! Gonta idiot for not checking!"
"No, Gonta, don't say that," Kaede told him, "you were rightfully upset, and we don't blame you at all."
"Stop getting off the fuckin' topic!" Miu shouted, "keep talkin' four-eyes!"
"Alright," Tsumugi replied, "it looks like the message is complete now. We can finally read it. And it says..."

"This world is mine- Kokichi Oma".

Hey guys it's me! Happy Friday! I hope you all are doing well! So to get down to business, we are at the point where the rock writing is completed. There is good news, and some bad news with this update.

The good news is I passed my final! The bad news is the obvious. I probably won't be able to update for the next eight weeks due to having ten hour classes.

Don't be sad though. I'm going to finish writing this story even if it kills me. I will be back soon enough if I'm not too swamped with work. In any case, I bid you all an amazing weekend. I'll see you all in the near future- yuki_no_fuyu
