Hello! I'm Esmerald and I'll be your interviewer today! How are you doing? Would you mind sharing a bit about yourself?
Hello! I'm Agusta! It's nice to meet you! I'm doing great! I'm a writer on Wattpad and a teen who's going through high school! So far, I have written three stories and I love spending time with my pets, family and friends!
Nice to meet you, Agusta! I saw you're writing a story called "Madras to Miami." The characters' names, "Rinku" and "Yippie" are very interesting and unique! How'd you come up with those names?
Thank you for the compliment! The reason for choosing the title came through a dream when I was in 9th grade. And I just Randomly had another dream in which I somehow got the name 'Rinku' so that I'd be more Desi. And for yippie, i was reading this book called *guinea pig* where the MC would scream Yippie repeatedly. I just liked the name and I was like what if my other character's name was Yippie. And that's it, I started writing them!
Woah, that's so cool! In the blurb, it said Yippie is going through a dark past. Would you mind sharing a bit of what happened to her in the past?
Yes, of course, the mega reveal is gonna be there in the upcoming chapters. But, it's gonna be about Yip's dad and how and where he ended up after Yippie's birth. (I'm writing on it and it's totally fun).
It sounds very interesting! In your opinion, what do you think plays the biggest role when it comes to developing characters for stories?
In my opinion, bringing the character's true self and introducing them to the readers effectively plays a vital role in developing them.
Ah, yes! I develop characters based on my own personality and some of my experiences. How do you develop your characters?
For The main character Rinku, I could say she's me. Cause she's more enthusiastic, funny and she's loyal to her friends and family who's ready to discover and win the world! For Yippie, she's dedicated, adventurous and craving a family which she always dreamed of. Their charectors reflect my thoughts and I've been there to places where the children need or wish to have a family. I think Yip would reflect their thoughts and have her dream life!
Fascinating! When it comes to developing books, what do you believe is the most important part of a good plot?
A good plot requires, introduction of the cast effectively in the beginning, rising of events or crisis at accurate time, character's availability when that particular scene occurs, having a major turning point, a good climax and having the end, where everything ties up together without letting out anything.
Yes, I agree with all of that! When it comes to developing plots, I struggle with making them flow the right way and the descriptions. Do you struggle with anything specific when it comes to plot development? If so, what is it?
I will use my rough work for writing a plot. I'll scribble some thoughts while listening to music. That would be my plot for the story. So, I will go according to my scribbles. In short, I'm going on with the flow so I did not struggle with developing plot!
That's a very helpful method! I must say that your story has a very good book cover even though it wasn't made by you! Wattpad has said that stories with great book covers will get more reads than those without. Do you agree with this?
According to me, it surely does! Readers are attracted more by the covers than the actual content itself! As myself is a voracious reader, I'll find books with catchy covers and find the content inside. So I think I agree with this!
Yes, I agree! In your opinion, what is the most underrated book genre? What do you think makes it so underrated?
I've never read or tried to write historical fiction. Cause I don't like to study history in school and here goes the same! I think y'all know about history, but the writer can make it authentic by introducing various techniques.
History was something I never really enjoyed unless it was about certain topics. I do agree that writers can use techniques to make it more interesting. What techniques would you suggest?
Using funnier character names, making the topic funny for easier grasping, repeatedly forcing the plot will make the readers enjoy. Though I'm not at all experienced in history I'd suggest these as I used this to remember the characters in world war 2.
Those are very interesting suggestions! What book genre do you enjoy reading and writing the most?
Absolutely it's humor and romance! Cause I'm a hopeless romantic person, with a correct proportion of comedy. And then next, it's vampires, wolves and paranormal stuff!
Those are my favorites too! I also love stories with magic and adventures. Have you ever gotten negative reviews on your stories? If so, how did you deal with them?
As I'm an aspiring author, I didn't get much exposure. So I'm inexperienced in getting negative feedback and I'm making myself ready for all circumstances!
Ah, ok! Did you read any child series books as a kid that you still enjoy today?
Yes of course, the Geronimo Stilton books. ( I still read them before going to sleep) and Thea Stilton too!
Cool! I still read the "Junnie B. Jones" series by Barbara Parks and the "Judy Moody" series by Megan McDonald, even if they are below my reading level. Do you have a favorite author you look up to?
Really? Those are my favorite too! Yes, but is this in Wattpad or published authors?
It can be either one. Wattpad or published authors.
Then, I'm gonna go with Colleen Hoover! She's something with writing! I adore and read almost all of her books
How nice! Let's dive into who you are. What are some of your hobbies?
I like to sketch, paint, sing , play (especially with my pets) and I'll write and read at the same time!
Cool! Does sketching, painting, singing, and playing with your pets help your writing improve?
Yes, of course! I do believe in " a picture is worth a thousand words!"
Nice! Do your relatives know about your love of writing? If so, how do they feel about it?
Yeah, I guess they know. When I was back in ninth grade, I told them about my Wattpad story ( ruptured heart). They were nothing but super supportive, especially my cousins!
It's great they support you! Is there someone in your family who inspires you the most?
My mum and dad! They are the best! These guys support me in every possible way!
That's wonderful! Parents are typically very supportive and teach us a lot of lessons. Speaking of lessons, books do that as well. Have you learned something from writing your books?
Yes, a lot. Like letting things go when they burden you so much and making your kinda people surround you and family is everything
Nice! Do you feel your books have what it takes to become movies someday?
I always assume or imagine my characters as real people but since I'm a blooming writer I want to and wish them to be portrayed in movies, but I have my flaws in writing so. And also I've imagined them as my ideal type so I don't wanna ruin that too
Ah, that's nice! Don't worry about your flaws, everyone has them! Since you think your writing has flaws, would you consider finding a reviewer or editor on Wattpad to help you improve?
I've been trying to find but let's just say, I haven't met anybody who would work with me like I'm new. So,
Oh! I hope you find someone to help you soon! I'm sure your writing has a lot of potential and many would love to help you take it to the next level! It's time to end this interview now. Before we do, I have one last question. What's the best advice you can give to aspiring authors, such as yourself?
Wow, i can't believe it's ending. I've enjoyed the time with you
"whatever you do, do it with your maximum potential. Don't worry bout the results. It's always gonna turn out well. You are unique and that's your specialty. Enjoy lil stuffs, bye!
That's some great inspiring advice! I've enjoyed our time as well! You're an amazing person and are very interesting! I hope this interview helps you get more exposure! Have a great day/night!
Thank you so much, have a great night!
You as well!
