Chapter 7

They panicked.

Kyo had huge bite marks on every limb, and her nose bled profusely. A huge scrape mark across her face was visible, too.

Her face was incredibly pale, and they were surprised that she didn't pass out, or worse. She kept her hopeful eyes on them, and opened her mouth. She quickly closed it.

Obito knew what she wanted to say, and it pained him very much. How could he be so stupid? Leaving a small girl in the forest at night was not a smart decision, and now she had been attacked by wolves.

It wasn't fair to her. None of it was fair. He realized that nothing could have been worse for her than being abandoned.

She deserved a home, even if it didn't have the best living conditions. More importantly, she had experienced a great love from the Akatsuki, and it was suddenly taken away.

She was close to dying, blood was leaking from several places in her body. Konan wasn't here, and Kakuzu wasn't, either. This was a serious situation.

The closest member they had right now that could help her was Sasori. He nodded slightly, and immediately got to work.

"I'm going to give her a shot, to numb the pain she is feeling."

Kyo didn't know what a shot was, but it sounded scary. She made a little whining noise at the back of her throat, and began to cry again.

Obito pulled her up to his chest, and hugged her limp body. Sasori took this chance to give her the shot in her upper right arm.

She didn't make any noise, and they knew it was because she had passed out. This little girl had experienced too much pain for her to take.

Obito sniffed a few times. He knew it was his fault. He just didn't know it would be anything like this.

How could he be so selfish? His thoughts turned to Rin and Taki. Why! Why would they ask him to take her away, when they knew this would happen?

Why was it, that every girl he cared for ended up hurting him so?

His decision was final, though. Kyo was going to live with Akatsuki, and nothing could change his mind.

He tapped his ring, inserting chakra into it, and alerted Konan and Kakuzu to come immediately. Their partners would most likely come along, as well.

He eyed Kyo, along with everyone else. Her hair had turned a dark purple quickly, and he was sure that it wasn't because of the time of day. Sasori opened her eyelid. Her iris was up high, and her pupil was slightly dialated.

This most likely meant that she was still in shock. They could still see it, though.

Her eye color had turned green.

Did this signify that Kyo was in critical condition?

-

Konan felt something in her ring, and stopped to look at it.

"Is something wrong?" Pein asked.

"I don't know, but we are being called back immediately." Konan answered.

"Did something bad happen?"

"...We'll have to see."

-

Kakuzu stopped in the middle of what he was doing, and looked down at his ring.

"Hm." Was all he said.

"What? What is it? Tell me, Kakuzu!" Hidan continued to pester him, angering him to the point where he cut off his arm.

"Ow! What the hell, Kakuzu!" He shouted angrily.

"We're being called back immediately." He said with a bored expression.

"Ah, too bad. I guess we can't finish that bounty hunting mission you've longed for!"

"Continue to tease me and I will rip your vocal cords out of your throat."

"..Hai."

-

Kyo had finally woken up after about half an hour.

"Hey, Kyo, hm. How're you feeling?" Deidara questioned in a soft tone.

She squinted her eyes at them. "It's hard... to see you.." Her head spun, and she wasn't feeling too good. She couldn't feel the pain very much.. Sasori's numbing shot had worked well.

"She's probably feeling dizzy," Sasori said, clarifying, "she did fall on her nose, breaking it. I would call that a medium head injury.. it's not minor, but it isn't severe, either."

"Aw, poor girl." Kisame said with sympathy.

"I.." Kyo's eyebrows scrunched up in concern. "I feel like I'm gonna throw up.." Itachi sat her up and rubbed her back, making her feel better. Nausea.

She held her head in pain, whimpering in discomfort.

"A hard blow to the head probably consists of a nasty headache." Sasori explained.

"Try to feel at least some sympathy for her." Obito said, trying not to get angry that Sasori was sounding like he didn't care.

Sasori raised an eyebrow, and let out a small sigh. "Honestly, this is a little girl. I have made no connections with her like you have, and I'm only doing what you told me to do. Which is healing her as best I can. I feel no sympathy whatsoever."

Obito clenched his teeth, aggravated with Sasori's poor attitude. What he said was true, though. He had only just met her, and didn't really make any sort of connection with her.

Kyo's eyes trailed to Sasori's, and weakly said, "It's okay if you don' like me.. but I like you, Sasori-san. You seem like a really nice person.." she trailed off, and looked up at the sky.

She held her head once again in agony, and whined a little. Sasori just stared at her.

Obito laid her down, and squeezed her hand. "It's going to be okay.."

"Who.. what.. is going on here?"

They turned their heads to see a certain bluenette. Konan gave them a strange look as she and Pein walked over to them.

She spotted Kyo and rushed over to her side.

"Ohh what happened to her?" She looked at the men and gave them harsh looks. "You weren't messing around with this poor innocent little girl, were you?"

"Of course not!" Obito spat. "I love her!" He stopped, then nodded. Konan's face was overcome with surprise, as well as Pein.

"W-wow, that's astounding." She stammered. Pein nodded.

"She needs help!" Obito cried.

"Oh, right!" Konan went over to Kyo, and examined the bite marks on her limbs, then her nose. "Yeah, she's broken it.." she murmured.

Kyo sniffed a few times, and attempted to rub her nose. She cringed in pain. "Are you ok, sweetie?" Konan asked soothingly.

"It hurts a little, but tha's ok." She responded, rasping.

"And why is that?" Pein inquired.

"B'cause I have you guys here.. and.. tha's.. the best thing that could happen.." She yawned, then held her head once again in pain. "Ow.." she whispered.

"You can go ahead and sleep, Kyo." Itachi said. She yawned again, and nodded. Soon she had drifted off to a somewhat peaceful slumber.

"And who the hell is this little b****?"

Kakuzu and Hidan had arrived.

Konan sighed, and covered Kyo's ears, just in case. "Take your profanity somewhere else, Hidan."

Kakuzu sat down cross-legged next to the small sleeping form of the child, and poked her in the stomach. She grunted, and rolled over on her side, facing away from him.

"Don't do that." Obito ordered. Kakuzu shrugged, his gaze still upon this little girl.

"Why?" He asked, addressing the reason for Kyo's presence.

Deidara giggled, and elbowed Obito. "'Cause this creep just loves little girls! Isn't that right, Tobi? Hm."

"Don't call me that." He retorted.

"Fine, un." Deidara pouted, causing him to break into another fit of giggles.

"You act even more childish than Kyo, brat." Sasori commented. They had finally noticed that Kyo was sitting upright, staring at them.

"How are you feeling, sleepyhead?" Kisame asked with a slight humor to his voice.

She pointed at Kakuzu, then Hidan. "You guys 'ave really pretty eyes!" She burst into a bout of coughing, before continuing. "I like them."

"So you do, ah? You're not bad, little bi-uhh.." He trailed off, looking at Konan, who gave him a death glare.

"As long as you're around this little girl, there's no cussing," Konan snarled, "Got it?

"Yes ma'am!" Hidan yelled out in fear.

"Idiot.." Kakuzu mumbled.

Kyo glanced at Obito, and quickly looked away. "What's the matter, Kyo?" He asked, a little worried. She refused to answer as she kept her head turned from him.

"Anyway.." Obito switched his line of sight over to Kakuzu, "can you stitch up her wounds?"

He grunted in response. "Whatever." He moved himself so he was facing Kyo, and brought out his needle.

Kyo's eyes widened, and said, "Wait, tha' looks like it's gonna hurt! Please wait, mis'er!"

Konan slapped Kakuzu. "Not while the child is still awake, idiot." Sasori gave her another shot that soon made her fall asleep.

Kakuzu slipped his threads in, sewing together the open flesh wounds. Hopefully the pain won't be too bad once she wakes up.
