Chapter 6: The Secret's Out

A/N: I'M NOT DEAD

Sparks & Blitz: NEITHER ARE WE!

Me: *sigh* Sorry about the long wait for an update. Been dealing with some crap. I'm better now and ready to write. Though we'll keep the fourth wall breaking to a minimum, especially after last chapter. *glares at S & B* Enjoy!

Third Person POV

Dipper's eyes widened. Danny Phantom was Danny Fenton?! How was that possible!? It made no sense! He had to tell Great-Uncle Ford about this! Danny and his friends continued to converse while the three hiding behind dumpster silently sneaked away. Once they were out of earshot of the three teens behind the school, they had a rushed conversation. "Did you guys see what I just saw?" Wendy questioned.

"If you saw a ghost turn into a boy from my first period class then yeah, I saw it." Dipper replied.

Mabel was giddily bouncing up and down, "Guys, this is so cool! A superhero that goes to school with us?! What are the odds?!"

Dipper stroked his chin, "But how is it possible?" He started pacing back and forth in front of the two girls. "From my knowledge of ghosts, they are one hundred percent dead. In the case of Danny Fenton or 'Phantom' he appears to be alive but also have the powers and abilities of spectral beings. That shouldn't be possible. The amount of ectoplasmic energy needed to..."

Sparks: NERD!

Dipper rambled on and on and Wendy leaned down to Mabel. "Is it just me, or is he way nerdier than he was last summer?" The lumberjack teen whispered.

Mabel shook her head, "Ever since we threw the journals into the Bottomless Pit last summer, he's tried to create his own. Though with less 'demon' stuff." She shrugged, "He's been obsessed with ghosts ever since he got the idea to start his own ghost hunting show." Mabel giggled, "He once watched a forty-eight hour marathon of Ghost Harassers with nothing keeping him awake except coffee and the occasional bucket of ice water from yours truly. Mom and dad were so mad at him." Wendy chuckled, of course he did.

Sparks: Only 48 hours? WEAK I SAY! TRY THREE WHOLE DAYS WITH NO SLEEP!

Blitz: I remember that. You were so hopped up on caffeine and sugar it took me 3 hours to pry you off the ceiling.

Sparks: Good times

Dipper stopped his mini rant as a voice called out his name. "Hey Dipper!" The group turned to see Danny and his friends approaching them. Dipper didn't know what to do. Should he confront the teen about his secret? Should he run and tell Great-Uncle Ford? Unfortunately for him, Mabel was about to make that decision for him. His twin stepped forward, a wide smile on her face.

"Hey Danny!" She said cheerfully with a wink. Danny raised his eyebrow.

"Um... Hi?"

Dipper knew it was only a matter of time before his sister let it slip that they knew the teen's secret. They had to leave and tell their Great-Uncle Ford about this! Dipper grabbed his sister by the arm and smiled at Danny and his friends. "Sorry to run out on you guys but we gotta go. Our uncle is expecting us!" With that, Dipper, Wendy and Mabel rushed away from the group of teens.

"You find the weirdest people man." Tucker commented.

Danny shot his technogeek friend a smirk, "Guess it's in my DNA."

Blitz: HA! It's funny because-

Sparks: Blitz, if you say why it's funny then that doesn't make it funny

Blitz: I just wanted to see if anyone else got the joke!

Sam rolled her eyes, "Come on you two. We're going shopping for clothes."

Danny and Tucker groaned. "Why?" They asked in unison.

Sam pointed at her shirt, "Because my clothes are now tainted with meat! You owe me." And, despite their protests, Sam dragged her two friends to the mall, while our other main characters rushed to their hotel room.

Sparks: Oh, so Phantom is allowed to make fourth wall breaks?!

Me: I'm responsible with mine! Unlike you two!

hi, i'm the littlest line break. hope you're liking the chapter ^-^

"Great-Uncle Ford!" Dipper shouted the moment he entered the hotel room. Ford was busy in his room at the hotel, analyzing the sample he had taken from the fight in downtown Amity in a makeshift lab. He put down the vial of green liquid in his hand and turned to the frantic boy entering his room.

He removed his safety goggles and gloves, smiling at Dipper, "Dipper my boy! You'll never guess what I just discovered! It appears that the sample I took from the fight scene has traces of-"

"No time for that!" Dipper interrupted as the two girls entered the room, "We know the identity of Danny Phantom!"

Ford's eyes widened and he gestured to the beds. The three kids took a seat on one of the beds while Ford sat on the other. "Tell me everything." He said. And so Dipper and the girls told him what they had saw and learned. All the while Ford nodded and tapped his chin in thought, not once interrupting. When the tale was finished, Ford stood and clasped his hands behind his back. "I see," he muttered, "now it makes sense." He walked over to his makeshift lab and picked up the vial he had been holding when Dipper barged into the room.

Confused, the three friends walked over to the scientist. "What makes sense Grunkle Ford?" Mabel questioned.

Ford held up the vial of green liquid to light. "While you three were at school, I began to analyze the sample I had taken yesterday." He removed the vial from the light and held it in a shadowy spot in the room. The contents glowed slightly. "During the process I confirmed that this liquid is ectoplasm. Though I did notice some... impurities." While the three watched, Ford placed the vial in a slot on a small machine. The machine looked like it used to be either a toaster or part of one of the mini fridges. The vial entered the machine and it rumbled to life, spitting out a long line of paper filled with scribbles. Ford grabbed the paper and hummed in thought.

"What kind of impurities?" Asked Dipper.

Sparks: NONE! HE'S PERFECT!

Blitz: Sparks, calm down.

Sparks: I AM CALM! *smashes window*

Ford didn't avert his gaze from the paper and the machine but he did answer the question. "There were extremely  faint traces of human DNA in it. So minuscule that only through extensive tests and microscopic readings could it be seen." Ford shot them a smile, "Or in my case, through building a Microscopic Analyzer."

"And yet you can't build a fancy battery so we can get out of this crazy dimension." A voice said from the doorway. The group turned to see Stan and Soos standing in the doorway, bags of groceries in their hands. "Sorry, are we interrupting the latest NerdCon?" Stan chuckled. Ford rolled his eyes at the comment but let out a small laugh at his brother's teasing. He resumed looking over the paper his invention continued to spill out as the twins and Wendy rushed over to Stan and Soos to help with the groceries.

"So, how was school?" Soos asked cheerfully. Mabel smiled and excitedly began to tell every detail about her day, despite it only lasting until lunch. Then she started telling them about their little discovery behind the school. Soos became wide eyed as she told him of the ghost boy. Dipper returned to Ford's side, curious to learn more about the impurities and how there could be human DNA in ectoplasm. The older man was busy adding a sample of his own blood to a small sample of the ectoplasm and placing it under a microscope.

"Fascinating." He whispered, "Truly remarkable."

"Great-Uncle Ford?" Dipper asked quietly.

"Dipper! Look at this!" Ford said, grabbing Dipper and planting him in front of the microscope. The smaller boy looked into the microscope and was amazed at what he saw. There were green ectoplasmic cells and red blood cells. Every now and then one of the green cells would slide near one of the red blood cells and touch it. The red blood cell would morph and change until it gained a small green glow and its color would slowly turn green. This process continued until all the red blood cells had been changed. Dipper moved away from the microscope and Ford took up his place. "Isn't it magnificent Dipper?" The elder scientist questioned, a smile on his face.

Dipper scratched his head, "Yeah, I guess. But I'm confused. How can the ectoplasmic cells transform the red blood cells without any sort of fusion? I mean, I would assume that the ectoplasm would have to be transferred right into your DNA for it to have human DNA traces in it."

Sparks & Blitz: *speechless*

Sparks: TV CAN TEACH YOU THINGS!

Blitz: Or maybe he actually studies-

Sparks: TV!!!

Blitz: *sigh* Why do I bother?

Ford hummed in thought, "You have a point Dipper. It might be because... Oh my." Ford gasped at whatever he was witnessing under the microscope.

"Great-Uncle Ford?" Dipper asked worriedly. Ford was muttering to himself and making adjustments on the microscope. Dipper was growing more and more concerned. "Great-Uncle Ford? What's wrong? What's happening?"

Ford stood up straight, smoothing out his jacket and placing his glasses back on his face. "The blood cells morphed by the ectoplasm. They... They self destructed."

Sparks & Blitz: SAY WHAT?!

Dipper's eyes widened, "What do you mean?"

Ford looked down at the boy, "I mean they self destructed. All of the red blood cells just... died. The regular ectoplasmic cells continued to thrive and absorb the remains of the red blood cells, but the red cells themselves just... stopped." Ford clasped his hands behind his back and paced back and forth in front of the microscope and his makeshift lab.

Dipper sat on the nearby bed. "So," he started, "what does this mean?"

Ford stopped pacing, and pinched the bridge of his nose, "It could mean anything. My blood isn't compatible with ectoplasm, the fact that I'm from another dimension means that my blood is different, the ectoplasm is only compatible with the being it came from." Ford turned to the microscope, a serious expression on his face. "Or it could mean that Danny Phantom is slowly becoming a full ghost."
