INDIANA JONES
lxi. ALL TO BE A HERO

PRESENT
STORYBROOKE
THE FULL MOON'S LIGHT seeped through the delicate tree branches and onto the damp grass. Over the sound of Indiana Jones and her friends' footsteps, there was an automated female voice speaking from the other end of the Savior's cellphone. The voice unremittingly told Emma that she had reached Regina's voicemail. The Evil Queen appeared to be ignoring Emma's calls, which lead the others to believe that something atrocious had happened to her.
"When we find Pan..." Henry started to say to Mr. Gold. "Remember, he's still in my body... so if you have to throw a fireball or something, at least avoid the face." The comment put a very temporary smirk on Indiana's face.
"I'll try my best," Mr. Gold emotionlessly mentioned.
As they all trekked throughout the cemetery together, they eventually arrived at the small building that housed Regina's father's grave. Standing outside of it was Neal, Killian, and Tinker Bell. They seemed to have already been informed of the body switch. The Shadow was still missing, but luckily, the group would be ready for the Shadow when they found it. The odds were in the gang's favor considering they had found the famous coconut.
After getting the door open and making their way into the Evil Queen's vault, an unconscious Regina Mills laying on the ground greeted them. There was no sign of Peter, who was trapped in Henry's body. Rumplestiltskin quickly used his magic to wake her up, which was when Regina wondered, "What happened?"
"Henry," Indiana explained. "Somehow, Peter switched bodies with him."
Regina rubbed her head, ashamed at herself. "And I fell for it," Regina mumbled. "Oh, I wanted to believe what he was saying so badly. I missed all the signs! I-I just... wanted to believe that he still needed me to be his mother!"
"I still do," Henry revealed through Peter's voice. He stood at the back of the crowd, but nonetheless, Regina spotted him instantly. He hurriedly paced forward before embracing his adoptive mother.
"So what exactly did Pan come down here to get?" David curiously wondered, changing the subject. Rumplestiltskin began to look around before a thought emerged in his head.
"Please tell me you didn't keep it down here," Rumplestiltskin begged, turning to see Regina.
"Where else would I keep it?" Regina counteracted vaguely.
"What are you talking about?" Emma wondered while Indiana asked, "Please tell me we're not talking about sex toys."
It was then revealed to them that Peter Pan had stolen the curse that tore everyone from the Enchanted Forest and dropped them to Storybrooke.
"Hang on. The curse? As in the one that tore us away from the Enchanted Forest?" Indiana questioned in surprise. "Why would Peter want it? Regina already cast it!"
"And I broke it," Emma added.
"Well, that doesn't mean he can't cast it again," Rumplestiltskin mentioned to the group. "And this time, without your parents' true love woven in, even you would be powerless to break it."
"I don't understand. We're already in this land," David stated. "What exactly would casting the curse in Storybrooke do now?"
They exited the small building that contained the Evil Queen's Vault to inform the others who had waited outside of their current situation. They all had a hard time processing this information. They didn't want to believe that there was another curse.
"Gold, this curse... is it gonna work like the last one?" Indiana warily queried.
"The last one was created to service the Queen's wishes," Rumplestiltskin said. "This will be done per Pan's desire. I would count on something hellish."
"The curse was built to be unstoppable," Regina added. "There's nothing that can be done."
"Well, it is possible to make the curse stoppable," Rumplestiltskin butted in. "By using the scroll itself. It can only be undone by the person who used the scroll. That's you, Regina."
"What do I have to do?" Regina demanded with a calm voice.
"You must destroy the scroll," Rumplestiltskin answered simply. "Both your curse and his shall be ended, but know this—there will be a price. A steep one. Instead of going to him, bring him to us with a spell—one that will return Pan and Henry to their own bodies.
"If I'm back in my own body, that means I'll have the scroll," Henry realized. "I-I can bring it to you guys."
"Exactly right, Henry," Rumplestiltskin confirmed. Regina said that even Rumplestiltskin wasn't powerful enough to cast such a spell. "Well, given the proper tool, I could be."
"The Black Fairy's Wand—one of the most powerful fairies that ever existed," Tinker Bell suddenly spoke. "Well-versed in dark magic. The Blue Fairy exiled her, but before she did, she took her wand."
"I assume our dearly departed Mother Superior had it hidden at her residence," Rumplestiltskin stated.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's hit the convent," David declared.
"Can I come? I should pay my respects to Blue, after all," Tinker Bell mentioned.
"Then it's settled. The rest of us should get back to my shop and prepare Henry for the spell," Rumplestiltskin suggested.
And so, the race to get Henry back in his body and stop the curse was on. Unfortunately for them, they had absolutely no idea that Pan's Shadow was silently observing in the darkness of the night.

It didn't take them all long to separate. Indiana Jones stood alongside Henry Mills in the front portion of Mr. Gold's Pawnbroker. They were meant to go to the back together, but Indiana stopped him, saying, "Henry, before we go back there... I need to ask you to do something for me."
Henry tilted his head to the side, curious as to what the sudden mood change was. "What is it?" he wondered.
Indiana looked down as she proceeded to walk around. "Well... as you know, Peter cast a spell on my heart," Indiana began.
"So that no one could take it out but him," Henry added, nodding. "I don't understand. What about it?"
"I know, I know. I'm getting there," Indiana reassured. "Anyways, I was thinking and I thought of all those stories we used to read together where the hero would sacrifice their heart in order to save someone. And I thought of how that situation could--actually, will probably happen to us in Storybrooke. The thing is, once Peter is... gone in Pandora's Box for good, I won't be able to take out my heart. Ever."
"Shouldn't that be a good thing?" Henry wondered before tensing up with realization. "Oh. I get it. Since I'm in Pan's body, you want me to take out your heart." Indiana nodded quickly. "I don't know if I can do it. I mean... you're my Nanny..."
Indiana smiled softly at him. "Hey, it'll make for a cool story," Indiana mentioned jokingly. "Come on, Henry... Please?"
The next thing she knew, her heart was getting ripped out of her chest.

"This was the only thing I managed to pilfer from Greg and Tamara in Neverland," Rumplestiltskin began, standing in the back of his shop with the others. David had just informed them that the Blue Fairy was back and the Shadow was captured. Now, it was all about waiting for the bodies to be switched once more. "It renders anyone with magic utterly powerless." He walked over to Henry with a small cuff in his hands. "Let me see your wrist, Henry. I want to make sure when my dear old brother awakes, that he's weakened. This will block his powers." Nervous, Henry asked what was to happen next. "I enact the spell, you fall into a deep sleep, and when you awake, you're back in your own body."
"And then you hang on to that scroll, and you come find us as fast as you can," Regina said from beside her son in Peter's body.
"When I gave my heart to Pan..." Henry scoffed. "I thought I was being a hero. I'm sorry."
"No, you're not the one that needs to be sorry," Indiana mentioned, looking away from the various items in Mr. Gold's Pawnbroker. She turned to face them properly. "Peter does."
"It's time," Rumplestiltskin announced after a short moment. Henry nodded and laid down. Indiana stood beside Rumplestiltskin, watching as he did his magic. "Keep your eye on the wand."
The Dark One slowly waved the wand over Peter Pan's face. Cautiously, he tapped the boy's face with the Black Fairy's Wand before a burst of magic was released from Peter Pan's body. The boy began to gasp and grunt as his body shook viciously. Henry's spirit was leaving Peter's body.
Indiana sighed a breath of relief once Peter Pan's body stopped vibrating. "It worked," she whispered. The group decided to find Henry. Indiana and Rumplestiltskin stared down at Peter Pan's body, listening to the footsteps that faded out once the gang exited the shop.
"You're not coming?" Belle questioned the duo. Rumplestiltskin glanced up from his brother's body.
"No, no, I-I think not. My brother and I have some, uh... unfinished business," Rumplestiltskin answered. Belle nodded and turned to exit the shop alongside Neal. "Indiana, you should go with them."
Indiana snapped her head up, not realizing that everyone had left. She sighed. "I know. I just never thought things would turn out like this," Indiana responded softly. She kneeled down beside Peter Pan's resting body and kissed his temple.
It didn't take very long for the pirate's sister to catch up with the group of heroes and villains. Neal Cassidy, Belle French, David Nolan, Killian Jones, Regina Mills, Emma Swan, Snow White, and Indiana Jones chased after Granny, a former werewolf who was leading them to Henry. She had gotten a whiff of Henry's scent and was now in the process of leading them to the boy with the Heart of the Truest Believer.
Henry suddenly went bolting out of the clock tower that was connected to the library. Henry, ecstatic that the switch back had worked, made his way toward his mothers. He pulled out the scroll that sat in his coat pocket, handing it over to Regina. However, as soon as the Evil Queen held it in her hands, a purple light was emitted from the paper. It caused the woman to fall onto the ground, unconscious.
Emma continued to shout the woman's name until she suddenly opened her eyes again. They helped Regina stand up as she held a shocked expression on her face. "I'm fine. It was just... I saw what needed to be done," Regina softly said. Henry asked if she was going to be okay, concerned laced in his voice. "The important thing is, you will be."
Footsteps touching the cement caused Indiana to look up. Her eyes widened as Peter went walking toward them. The scroll suddenly disappeared from Regina's hands while Indiana reached out and grabbed Killian's hook--holding it as if it were a hand. "No, he won't," Petter announced.
"He has the—!" Killian began to shout with his other arm outstretched. Peter waving his hand interrupted his shout.
Peter had frozen them in their place with the use of magic. Regina and Emma held onto Henry protectively. Snow White held onto David's arm with Granny behind her while Indiana remained holding her brother's hook.
"Curse?" Peter Pan finished for the pirate with a smirk. "That I do." He began to walk around with a sense of accomplishment. "Look at you all: a captive audience. Oh, and my love..." He walked closer to her, tucking a piece of her hair behind her ear. "You can rest easy. I won't be killing you. Just everyone else."
The sound of that made Indiana's heart race faster and faster. Though it wasn't in her body, she could feel it. Her muscles tensed up and it felt like she couldn't breathe. She wanted to open her mouth and shout at him, but she was frozen. How did things become to screwed up?
Peter walked around to see Neal and Belle. "And you two... Hm, you look adorable," Peter taunted. "It's going to be hard to choose who to kill first. Actually, no. You first."
He pointed at Neal. Before he could do anything, Rumplestiltskin suddenly strolled over and clamped his hand down on Peter's shoulder. "Stay away from them," Rumplestiltskin growled.
"Well, how about this?" Peter Pan said. "The worm has teeth. What—you here to pwotect your wuved ones?" If Indiana could roll her eyes, she would have.
"I'm not going to let you touch either one of them," Rumplestiltskin hissed. "In fact, I'm going to make sure you don't. See, I have a secret weapon—one that you most certainly haven't been anticipating to see."
Peter narrowed his eyes at his half-brother, legitimately interested in what he was talking about. The next thing that happened was horrid and painful, not to mention heart breaking. Indiana Jones let out a blood-curdling scream as she doubled over and fell onto the ground.
The childish boy's green eyes widened as he sprinted toward Indiana. As he did so, Peter lifted the spell that froze everyone. "What the hell did you do!?" Peter shouted at Rumplestiltskin.
Groaning and screaming with anguish, Indiana writhed about on the floor. The pain was as strong as one hundred daggers sinking into her stomach. Her ocean-colored eyes were watery with the sheer pain and her breathing came out in sharp, shallow rasps. Sweat began to drip down the side of her face and covered her forehead in a thin sheen.
The pain that Indiana Jones felt in that moment was indescribable. It was as though her entire body was burning from the inside out or her organs were being shoved through a paper shredder. Whatever it was, it made Indiana want to die.
While her brother crouched by her side and the others gathered around them, Peter held Indiana close to his body. "What have you done, Crocodile!?" Killian demanded. "I won't let you take anyone else I love! Stop this madness!"
"You see, I was only planning on killing you, dear brother," Rumplestiltskin began as he started to stroll around with pride, "but then when Indiana, here, begged Henry—who was in your body at the time—to rip her heart out, I just couldn't ignore the idea brewing in my head."
"Wh-What are you going to do to her?" Emma stammered, holding Henry close to her body.
"I don't understand," David admitted. "I thought you and Indie were friends? Why the sudden change? Why are you doing this?"
"Leave her alone, Gold. Indiana has nothing do with this," Snow White demanded worriedly.
"Of course she doesn't," Rumplestiltskin replied. "And though we might've been acquaintances for many years back in the Enchanted Forest, this may be the only chance I have left to get my revenge."
"Revenge? What the hell are you talking about?" Regina questioned.
"Is this about our father?" Peter demanded with watery eyes. "His death... His drafting to the Giant Wars... That wasn't my fault! You know that!"
"If your mother never broke up my parents' marriage, this never would have happened!" Rumplestiltskin snarled. "My papa would still be alive, and so would my mother!"
"Dad, stop this!" Neal shouted angrily.
"Rumple, please!" Belle added.
"I'm sorry, but I have to get my revenge and take Pan's happiness away from him," Rumplestiltskin hissed, raising Indiana's heart that she left back in the Pawnbroker. "I thought of merely crushing your heart, but—as you always told me—where's the fun in that?"
"F-F-Fuck you!" Indiana snapped, wincing as her lungs practically began to deflate within her body. She could hardly breathe.
"Therefore, I injected your heart with a special kind of magic—a poison containing our favorite ingredient: Dreamshade," Rumplestiltskin continued, ignoring the girl's profanity.
"Well, un-inject it!" Emma helplessly declared. "I'm not letting you take her life!"
"I'm afraid it's too late," Rumplestiltskin admitted with a sickening smirk on his face. "I suggest you say your goodbye's now. That poison will do its job any moment now."
Everyone turned back to Indiana, whose skin was becoming extremely pale. Her body was practically transparent by this point. "We-We can stop this. We can fix this," Peter stammered nervously. "True love's kiss! That'll do it."
When Peter leaned in to kiss her, Indiana stopped him. "Y-You know that's not h-h-how Dreamshade wo-works, Pe—" Indiana paused to cough, blood coming up as she did so. "I'm going t-to die."
"No! I just got you back," Peter whispered. "Please... Don't let go."
"Ki—Killian..." Indiana started with realization. "Peter, take... care of my brother." Her voice kept breaking within her sentences. She turned her head slightly to see Killian, who sat beside her with tears leaking out of his eyes. "Be careful."
Killian took her hand. "Always am," Killian whispered, sniffling and pretending that he wasn't crying.
"Indie, please, let me try to fix it," Peter begged.
"Pl-Please," Indiana pleaded. "Let me... Let me die a hero." This caused a look of confusion to fall on his angelic facial features.
"What? What are you talking about?" Peter replied, holding her closer to him if that was even possible.
"No one else h-has to die," Indiana whimpered. "Let me d-die a hero, Peter, pl-please. I-I—"
Silence.
There was nothing but an eerie, unsettling silence.
"Bye, bye baby sister," Killian whispered, heartbroken.
Indiana Jones had paid the ultimate price... all to be a hero.
