Inara wakes up to be surrounded by a lot of heads. Kyros helps her with some water when she wakes up.

"Are...are you okay? Are you in pain?" He asks worriedly.

Inara nods, slowly sipping her water. She looks at Zade but glances down. She cannot face him anymore!

"I remember." She says suddenly and Abir looks at Kyros with a worried expression.

"I remember Anna." she takes a sigh, "But...I am okay now." She assures them.

"Can you leave me and Zade alone for a minute?" Inara requests and Abir nods. They walk out, closing the door behind them. Zade sits beside her bed and takes her hand in his hand.

"Are you really okay?" he asks sweetly. Inara retracts her hand and sighs.

"What do you think? How can I be ever okay by being a murderer?" She looks down.

Zade lifts her chin and looks at her lovingly, "Sometimes you keep someone who hurts you. It's because the happiness they bring to us is more than the pain they cause. You have Anna in your memories not because she brings you pain, but she brings you happiness, all those childhood memories."

"You cannot undo what you did, but you can work towards getting over it." Zade suggests her.

"Not many people can get over people so easily, unlike you." Inara's tone was harsh.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Zade asks, confused.

"Evelyn. You can move on from her but I can't. An innocent person got killed by me a decade ago. Another innocent life got killed because of me as Victor wanted to remind me of my memories. I am a murderer, Zade." Her voice was close to breaking down.

Zade holds her face in his hand, caressing her cheek. "Evelyn wasn't innocent. She lied, cheated, and manipulated her way into our lives. You shouldn't feel guilty over a person like her." he tries to make her understand but Inara was stubborn. She removes his hand.

"I am talking about her baby. The baby did nothing wrong." Inara steps down from her bed and looks out of the window.

"Evelyn didn't even mention her baby, not until she was in a life or death situation. Any person who had any emotions left in them wouldn't do that. The baby was just her excuse for survival. I can't say she was lying about it or no but that is who she is. She is selfish." Zade places his hand on her shoulder.

"Just like you are?" Inara asks. Such a reaction shocked Zade.

"What do you mean?" Zade asks as Inara turns to him.

"She was selfish to protect her and her pack's lives, just like you are." She says with a straight face.

"You call keeping my pack first, being selfish?" Zade asks a little hurt. "I was away for six years and..."

"And unfortunately, your pack was killed in your absence." She interrupts him, "But I see you building it again. You are just afraid to admit it." She folds her arms over her chest.

"Admit what?" Zade comes closer to Inara, trying to read her expressions. She seems to be speaking robotically.

"If I want to prevent destruction and care about my loved ones, you want me to call myself selfish?" Zade asks, looking very pissed.

"Using people and then throwing them away when they are of no more use to you, is selfishness. That's what you did to Evelyn. That's what you will do with me and Kyros once Damon is healed." Inara finally drops the bomb.

Zade looks really taken aback. Even Abir, Ivory, and Kyros are taken aback too. They were intently listening to them fight through the door.

"How can she think like that?" Ivory whispers to Abir.

"Maybe this thing with Evelyn made her realize some things," Abir replies.

"All the wrong things but." Kyros gives out a disappointing sigh.

"You kicked off Evelyn like a stray dog once you signed the treaty off. All you did today by forgiving her and stuff was nothing but a charity case. And I don't want my family to become that to you." Inara says, devoid of any emotions.

"Is that what you think of me?" Zade looks upset at that.

"That is what I know," Inara replies sternly. "You can be all sweet and charming but I can see right through it. You lie and manipulate to get what you want."

"When have I ever lied to you?" this was really hurting Zade. "My pack is in the city, where Victor is roaming like a madman. But I am here, protecting you."

"You are protecting the people who will be of your use." Inara points out. Zade gasps at that. "You don't see any worth for us. Or you would have told me I was your mate. You wouldn't be able to throw me afterward if I knew I was your mate so you hid it from me."

Zade looks shocked at that but then remembers how Victor mentioned it while capturing Evelyn as a hostage. He composes himself.

"The fact that you were having a hard time to even accept that you are a wolf, would I even dare to imprison you in another jail of this soulmate bond?" he walks to her, reducing the distance between them.

He looks straight into her eyes, "Will I make you more nervous and distressed than you already are just so you wouldn't feel like I lied to you?" he takes another step to her, and Inara steps back too.

"Hiding the truth from someone you love isn't lying." He hisses.

Love? Did Zade just say, love?

Inara looks at him with wide eyes. He seems to not have noticed what he said.

"That is a decision," she pushes him slightly, "I wanted to make. What you guys have been doing all this time was making them for me." She shouts loud enough for everyone to hear. "I have a right to know if it concerns me, even if it will hurt me."

"Fine!" Zade looks frustrated. "You want me to say it out loud? I'll say it. I am your mate, Inara. But since I was under a treaty, I was scared. I was scared to risk it all again. I have seen it in front of me how a broken treaty can affect a life. Irene was killed right in front of me, with her baby inside her!"

"I was willing to sacrifice my happy dream of being together with the person I love deeply. I wanted to make sure that my mate is perfectly safe even if I wasn't beside her. I wanted you to have a second chance at happiness, even if it was not with me. If you call that being selfish, then yes, I am selfish." Inara doesn't make eye contact with him. If it's true that Zade was falling in love with her, she has to stop it for his sake.

Zade stomps out of the room. As he opens the room, he is greeted by three shocked faces.

He walks past them, out on the porch. Evelyn's body was still out there, she deserved a burial.

"You guys be with Inara. I'll go after Zade." Kyros says and goes out.
