Chapter 44. Myriad of Pain

Peter was circling around Stiles' body, intently studying him. His presence being that close to Stiles was making me uneasy. I don't trust Peter. I never have and I never will. The fact that he just takes what he wants and uses people without the slightest bit of concern for the people he is screwing over just makes me want to shove Argent's "lightsaber" up his ass and call it a day.

"He doesn't look like he would survive a slap across the face, much less the bite of a werewolf." Peter stated.

I shot him a look, "We already told you that he isn't the one being bitten."

"You may not have any other options, sweetheart." he replied with a smirk.

My hands balled up into small fists at my side, "Don't call me that."

"You don't think it would work, I mean, if we had to bite him?" Scott asked hesitantly.

He is not entertaining the idea of actually biting Stiles, is he? I swear, this is the one thing that I ask of him, and he just shoots my idea down because I could be put at risk.

"This is more a war of the mind than the body. There are better methods to winning this battle. Methods that could prevent Kasey from being taken altogether." Peter stated as he stood up from his crouched position.

Hearing him say my name just made me even more uncomfortable. I want him gone. I don't want his help. Peter is an idiot and just likes to cause problems for people.

"What kind of methods?" Deaton asked quickly.

Peter than flicked his wrist and his claws shot out, "We're going to get into his head."

Peter grabbed a hold of Lydia's arm and tugged her into the dining room after he explained exactly what he wanted to do with Stiles and getting us into his mind.

The plan made my stomach hurt. I don't really want to get into Stiles' head, but Deaton thought sending the two people that Stiles' cares about the most in the room would get the best result. Meaning that Scott and I had to go in.

I was scared, I won't lie. If the Nogitsune is this dangerous on the outside, how dangerous could he be inside Stiles' mind- where anything is possible.

Lydia and Peter walked back into the room quickly, "So, do we have a plan?" Deaton asked rapidly, not wasting any time.

"Scott is going to try and dig through pale and sickly Evil Stiles' mind to unearth pale and sickly real Stiles. Then guide him back from the depths of his own subconscious. But he's not going to do it alone, that's were you come in." Peter said as he glanced at me. I was already narrowing my eye's hatefully at him.

He rolled his eyes, "Don't you think it's time you moved past this whole "hate me with every fiber of your being" phase. I mean, it has been a year."

"Let me ruin your life so we can be even and then maybe come talk to me." I snapped hatefully before stomping into the living room. I could hear him muttering about how I was immature and how it was probably my time of the month.

One of these days I'm going to punch him in the throat. It's going to happen.

Scott sighed and followed after me into the living room, Peter not far behind him. "You're sure this is going to work?"

"It's really the only other option you have since the President of the I Hate Peter Fan Club over there is refusing to let Stiles get the bite." Peter stated.

I had to close my eyes and do a few deep breaths before I lunged at him and started strangling him with a shoelace.

Peter led Scott behind the couch, directly behind where Stiles' was sitting. I stumbled over beside my brother as he began to explain what to do. He showed Scott where to position his claws along the back of Stiles' neck. I don't know exactly how this is going to work, but I'm going to have to trust Peter for the time being.

Even though trusting Peter is the last thing that I ever want to do.

"So what do we do if we find him?" Scott asked, turning his head to look at Peter in confusion.

Peter glanced down at Stiles, "You're going to have to guide him out somehow. Kasey you need to sit next to Stiles."

I shot him an annoyed glance, but did as he instructed. I glanced at Stiles nervously before sitting down beside him. I don't know if it's dangerous for me to go in there or not, but I'm hoping we'll be able to find Stiles and get him out so the Nogitsune has no choice but to leave.

Scott hesitantly placed the tips of his claws on my neck and I shivered momentarily. "You have to try to somehow get him back in control of his mind and his body."

"Mind elaborating on the term somehow?" I retorted. Peter really was more trouble than he was worth sometimes.

He shrugged, "Improvise."

"Improvise," I laughed nervously, "great advice, Peter. You should consider becoming a therapist or writing self help books because your advice is so extremely helpful I don't know what to do with myself."

Scott sighed, "What if this is just another trick?"

"When are you people going to start trusting me?" Peter laughed as he folded his arms across his chest.

I rolled my eyes, "He meant the Nogitsune you idiot."

"Okay, tone down the hatred for a moment. You need to be at peace with yourself when Scott does this." Peter rushed out in annoyance.

Deaton looked at my brother worriedly, "Scott... we're running out of time."

Scott started to breathe deeply and before I could make a witty remark to ease the tension I felt his claws sink into the tissue of my neck. My body started to shake as my eyes rolled to the back of my head. My vision was going grainy before everything just went gray.

My eyes snapped open and I found myself looking up at a ceiling. I couldn't move, and for a moment I panicked because I thought I was once again paralyzed in my nightmares, but then I realized that I couldn't move because I was strapped down to a bed.

The five-point restraint system.

I'm back in Eichan House.

Voices were whispering and I started thrashing around in the restraints, trying to break free. Not this again. I was straining against the leather straps, wincing as my skin began to bruise.

"Kasey?" Scott asked. My eyes widened when I found him in the bed on the other side of the room.

I let out a sigh of relief, glad that I wasn't alone in this place again. I know that we're in Stiles' head, but Eichan House is just full of too many bad memories for me to face on my own. I can hear Stiles' voice echoing around the room, and it's making me nauseous.

Scott was struggling against the restraints and I let my head fall back on the pillow, "Scott, you're a werewolf. You can get out of these damn restraints."

"We're in Stiles' head." Scott stated as he stopped fussing and turned his head to look at me.

I scoffed, "And you're a supernatural creature with supernatural strength. Break free so you can come and get me out of these."

Scott closed his eyes and focussed all of his energy and then forced his arms upward, the leather straps ripped apart instantly and he smiled as he started to breathe heavily. Apparently that took a lot more out of him than he thought it would. I waited patiently as he freed himself.

He then slid off the bed and wasted no time in pulling my straps apart so I could escape. I was rubbing at my wrists once again, and it was bringing back memories of that God awful basement.

"What now?" Scott asked me.

Does he honestly think I know what the hell I'm doing? I haven't had a clue what to do with this entire situation since it started.

"I don't know, Scott, I'm not a serial mind rapist." I retorted.

He rolled his eyes, "Just stay behind me, okay?"

"Yeah." I nodded.

Scott took the last few remaining steps towards the door and twisted the handle, I was expecting it to be locked, but it wasn't. He slid out into the hallway and just as I was going to follow, the door slammed in my face.

My hands started hitting the door instantly, "Scott? Scott!" I yelled, fear pumping through my veins.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, Scott was gone. I'm alone in Stiles' head with the Nogitsune. What could possibly go wrong here?

Obviously standing here by the door wasn't going to solve anything. I took another breath before turning around to try and find another way out, only to find that the room had changed. There was a tiled wall sitting in front of me, with each side having a path for me to follow.

I have no idea which path would be the right path. I have no idea what the hell I'm supposed to do. Just as I was about to move, I felt water seeping into my shoes. I blinked in confusion as I glanced down and saw that there was a puddle of water at my feet, when I looked back up I found myself in my bathroom.

The water in the bathtub was running, flowing over the sides and onto the floor. I spun around as the memory started to seep into my head. The curtain was pulled in front of the tub, so I couldn't see what was in it.

I know what's in it.

I know what happens next.

My feet carried be backwards until I hit the door. My eyes didn't leave the tub as I fumbled with the handle, trying to twist it open but it wasn't working! Not again, please no, not again!

The curtain was ripped back, but instead of seeing Scott like I did before, it was the Nogitsune emerging from the water. I tried flinging myself against the door, praying that it would budge.

"Why won't you just stop trying to save him?" he asked with a shake of his head.

My body stilled as his footsteps splashed water around. I can't breathe.

"We are going to destroy all of them, Kasey. You and me. Together." he added, he was right behind me. I could feel his presence.

I shook my head from side to side, "No."

"Yes," he hissed as he grabbed the back of my neck and forced me to look in the mirror. I nearly fell backwards when I saw the word killer written in blood across the glass. I pulled my hand up to my mouth to suppress the scream and stumbled backwards. The Nogitsune wasn't in the reflection but he was still right beside me.

I could taste copper in my mouth. I pulled my hand back in a panic and found a gash on my palm with blood seeping out of it. I started to cough manically as I rushed back to the sink so I could get the blood out of my mouth. When I turned on the tap, black fog started to come out instead of water.

"STOP! STOP THIS!" I screamed at the Nogistune, who was laughing behind me.

He cocked his head to the side, "You are the key to a Myriad of pain, Kasey. I'm never going to stop."

Suddenly, the room started to shake. The water on the floor was splashing around and I could hear a voice screaming my name. It was Lydia, screaming at me to fight this. I went for the door again, and this time the handle turned and I fell out of the bathroom.

I was expecting the water to follow me, but it didn't. I was no longer wet or covered in blood. I looked as I did before I was sucked back into that memory. I was now standing in the middle of an extremely large white room.

I've never been here before but I feel like I have.

Scott went running past me before he realized that I was standing there. He turned back and jogged over to me, a look of confusion was plastered onto his face. My eyes roamed the room before they landed on the person that we came looking for.

Stiles.

He was sitting on the Nemeton, the tree stump was etched into my memory vividly, and he was playing some sort of board game with the Nogitsune.

Scott and I both immediately began to run towards them, but just as we got close they shot out further. We stopped and started yelling for him, but he didn't seem to hear us. This stupid paradox is keeping us from him.

"Stiles! Stiles over here!" I shouted as I waved my arms around, thinking maybe that could possibly help. I was wrong though, as per usual in these situations.

We started running again, but with each step we took he was only pushed farther and farther away. I don't know what else to do to get to him.

Think Kasey.

I need Stiles right now, he would be able to figure this out. He would be able to figure all of this out. What would Stiles be thinking about? What could Scott and I possibly do that could get him to hear us? I need Lydia too- Lydia would be able to come up with something.

Scott looked at me, "Why does he keep getting farther and farther away?"

"I think it's a trick. He can hear us, the Nogitsune is just tricking him... I think. I don't know Scott, maybe just... just... howl."

He gave me the most confused glance I have ever received from a person. "You want me to howl?"

"Yes!" I shrieked in excitement, "Do you remember that night when you were trying to call the alpha, and you did and it was extremely loud?"

"Well, yeah but-"

"You were signaling your location to the rest of the pack, remember? Stiles is part of the pack. So, howl. Let him know where we are." I finished with a grin. This just might work. This just might actually freaking work.

The Nogitsune turned his head as the words left me lips and I smirked. I had outsmarted him. I had out foxed the fox and he was pissed.

Scott let his werewolf side show as his face changed and his eyes began to glow bright red. I held my hands over my ears as he let out the loudest howl I've ever heard. The room felt like it was shaking and Stiles glanced over at us. I wanted to pat Scott on the back for his skills, but I didn't want to lose my hearing just yet so I kept my hands over my ears.

I watched as Stiles knocked all of the pieces of the game off of the board. The Nogitsune started to roar in anger and he glanced at me one last time before the room faded to black.

☾ ☾ ☽ ☽

My eyes snapped open and I was gasping as I pushed myself off of the couch. I could still feel a ghost of Scott's claws on my neck as something ran out of my nose- my guess was blood. My hand was rubbing at the four small holes on the back of my neck as I watched Scott crouch down in front of Stiles.

"What happened? What's wrong? Why didn't it work?" Lydia asked in a panic.

Peter glared at her, "Because it's not science Lydia, it's supernatural. I did my part now give me the name."

Scott and I were both watching them in total confusion. "What name?" I asked loudly as Peter began to pull her from the room.

"What are you talking about?" Scott snapped in frustration. I knew we couldn't really trust Peter. What the hell did Lydia promise him?

I jumped in place as Stiles' body began to thrash around on the couch. He ripped the tape off of his mouth and began to pull out the cloth that was wrapped around the Nogitsune's body.

The sight made me sick to my stomach as I watched him pull more and more of it out of his mouth before he began to throw it up, the cloth came flying out all over the floor with tendrils of black smoke.

After he finished his body was convulsing as salvia dripped onto the floor. The smoke began to swirl around before a wrapped hand shot out from the pile. Stiles' body jumped back as the hand became an arm, until eventually the whole body was out.

The body rushed at Deaton and Scott and Peter grabbed a hold of it and pushed it back onto the couch. I was watching in total confusion before I felt a hand clamp over my mouth and a voice whisper in my ear, "You should really learn not to trust a fox, 'cause they'll fool you... they'll fool everyone."

And once again, I saw blackness, but this time- there were no bright yellow dots off in the distance.

Talk about a cliffhanger, am I right? Hahahah

Anyway, this chapter was pretty short but I had a lot of fun writing this one. Insatiable will explain any and all questions you could have left about Kasey/Nogtisune related stuff. And the finale is gonna be so much fun to write and I'm really excited for it.

I hope you liked the chapter and I hope you're ready for some more drama because it's going to get crazy from here on out. It's been crazy so far but it's just gonna get worse.
