DAY 5

Writing Tip #5: Remember every character will react differently to information they hear. Try to give your characters unique reactions that fit in with their personalities, even if it goes against what you want in the plot. For a plot to feel more natural, the characters need to make decisions that align with who they are. If an aggressive character (i.e., Joel from The Last of Us) makes a choice that would align more with a passive, caring character, it probably won't make sense unless it's set up really well, so make sure your characters stay in character so everything feels more natural.

I strongly recommend the video "Writing Advice from Matt Stone & Trey Parker @ NYU | MTVU's "Stand In" on the YouTube channel Fabian Valdez since it features amazing writing advice in only two minutes! Life-changing advice, honestly.

Daily Vocab Word: Inundation - (noun) A big overflow of water. I.e., "The heavy rain caused an inundation."

Fun fact: I had no clue that word existed before looking it up!

Writing Challenge Improvement Area: Characters

Writing Challenge #5: Interview!

In this challenge, conduct an interview of any length (but try to make it at least three questions) of one of your characters. Ask unexpected questions and write the responses from the voice of your character.

You can ask them simple questions, like their favorite food, or complex questions, like how it felt to go through *insert story event here*. Or hypothetical questions, like "What would you do if you had to *insert challenge here*?"

This is a pretty open-ended challenge where you can do whatever you want with it! Feel free to post your results in the comments!

Happy writing!

Mark here when you complete the challenge --->
