Peter Parker.
Peter. Parker.
You've liked him since the ninth grade.
Even so, you got a boyfriend at the beginning of your sophomore year, deciding Peter would never like you back when someone else asked you out. You broke up with him after homecoming because you realized how much you still liked Peter — especially after seeing him with Liz — and that was unfair to your boyfriend.
Now, after half the world got wiped out, then brought back five years later, it's finally your senior year, and you still like Peter.
What happened five years ago has given you — and everyone else — a new perspective on life. Now, especially knowing that Peter was one of the people who got dusted, the silly fears of rejection you once had have gone out the window. It's now or never. Either of you could bite it at any moment.
So, here you are, walking towards Peter as he talks to Ned while getting books out of his locker. You're nervous, but you remind yourself that the worst that can happen is he rejects you, and you're forced to move on.
No biggie...
"Peter," you say. "Hey."
He turns, then smiles when he sees you. "Hey, Y/N."
You resist the urge to take a deep breath, even though you feel like you're about to run out of air. "I was wondering if you'll be free this Friday...?"
"Ye-Yeah," he says, nodding as his cheeks turn pink. "I'll be free."
"Cool," you reply. "Would you — maybe — wanna, um, go do something together or... something?"
He nods again. "Yeah, I would love that."
You grin. "Great."
"Great."
"See you Friday."
You start to leave, but then he stops you. "Wait, you meant that as like a date, right?"
Internally, you panic a little. "Yeah."
He smiles, sounding relieved. "Okay, cool. 'Cause I did, too."
"Cool," you reply, smiling again. "See you then?"
"See you then."
After you leave, Peter starts freaking out with Ned as you resist the urge to squeal or punch your fist in the air happily.

Your stomach is filled with butterflies as you answer the door and see Peter standing on the other side of it. He's wearing a sweater over a button-up shirt and jeans, and he's holding a small bouquet of flowers. He seems nervous. "He-Hey. These are for you."
You take them, blushing. "Oh, th-thank you. You didn't have to get these."
He shrugs a little, his face red. "I-I wanted to."
You set them on the counter, then turn back to Peter. "Ready to go?"
He nods. "Yeah." He moves out of the doorway, and you walk through. He closes the door behind you and contemplates grabbing your hand. You contemplate grabbing his.
As you walk toward your destination, you make small talk. It's a little awkward, but you start to get more comfortable. Your hands keep brushing as you walk down the sidewalk. Eventually, you just reach over and grab his hand. He smiles.
It doesn't take long for you to reach the venue of your date — a "paint your own pottery" place a few blocks away from your apartment.
After you first asked him out, he found you at lunch to ask for your number so you could figure out where to go for your date. Ultimately, you decided to do something more fun and original than the general dinner and/or a movie date. Peter came up with the idea to paint pottery for each other.
You walk in and one of the employees greets you, then tells you to pick out what you want to paint. Peter walks over to a shelf with piggybanks on it, then holds up a unicorn one. "This seems like it would fit you."
You laugh, then pick up a dinosaur one next to it. "And I think this is perfect for you." He laughs, too. Then, you start getting serious.
You think that, instead of any of the plates, bowls, or decorative figures they have, a mug would be the most useful thing for him. So, you head over to that shelf. You choose one that leaves all of the room for creativity. There's no design on it at all. Peter, meanwhile, is still browsing.
You choose your paint, then sit down at a little table and get started on your design. Peter, finally, sits down in front of you with a mug and a multitude of paints. You chuckle. "Looks like we had the same idea."
"Almost," he says, looking at your one container of black paint. "I'm more colorful than you."
"The aesthetic is purely black and white, Parker," you retort jokingly. He laughs.
You talk as you paint, Peter seemingly more indecisive than you about what his pattern should be. You look at his mug frequently, causing him to tell you to stop looking, as it's a surprise.
You finish yours before he does, and you start to give it to one of the employees so they can glaze it and put it in the kiln. However, you feel something is missing. You think for a moment, then look up at Peter. "Can I borrow your red?"
"Yeah," he replies, completely focused on painting the mug with green. You chuckle at the concentrated look on his face and grab the red paint, paint something on the inside of the mug, then give it to an employee.
Peter finishes not long after, then gives his piece to an employee. You pay and give them your number, as it takes seven to ten days for them to glaze and kiln it. They'll call you when it's ready.
As you walk out, Peter takes your hand. "Well, I can't wait to drink out of my new mug."
You laugh. "Me, too."
"You hungry?"
"Yeah, a little bit."
You head to Delmar's to get some sandwiches, then Peter walks you home. When you reach the door, neither of you want you to go inside. He sighs. "Honestly, I don't think I can wait seven to ten days for date number two."
You laugh. "I can't either."
"So... I'll text you? I'd have to check when I'm free."
"Yeah," you reply. "I think I'm mostly free this week, so we can do something whenever."
He smiles. "Cool... Great. Yeah. Um... see you later?"
You chuckle, then kiss his cheek and turn to go inside. "See you later, Peter."
He grins, blushing as you close the door behind you. "She kissed my cheek," he whispers, amazed. He's beaming the entire walk home.

"I want to apologize in advance for how horrible mine is going to look," Peter says as you approach the pottery place. You're holding hands.
You laugh. "Oh, please, I'm sure it's not that bad."
"I'm sure it is."
"Well, you're going to love mine," you reply confidently, leading him inside.
You tell the employee at the counter your name, then they hand you your mugs, wrapped in little boxes and put in a bag, so you can't see them. You go and sit outside on a bench to open them.
You take out the boxes, and Peter sighs. "Just open mine first and get it over with."
"I promise you I'm going to love it," you say, opening up his box. You pull out the mug and smile.
"Peter, it's so cute!" you exclaim.
He blushes and laughs. "It's a mess."
"But I love it! I wouldn't want it any other way." You carefully put the mug back in the box, then look at Peter. "Okay, open mine."
He pulls the mug out, the thing you painted on the inside facing you.
"You're so much more talented than me," he says, looking at the pattern. He turns it, then spots the heart on the inside. His cheeks turn pink. "Wow, I don't think I've ever been flirted with via mug before."
You laugh. "So you like it?"
"I love it," he replies, looking back at the heart again. He rubs his thumb over it, smiling softly. Then, he looks up. "Y/N, I... I think I need to tell you something."
Your brows furrow. "Okay...?"
He puts the mugs in the bag, then takes your hand. "This is gonna be weird, but I have to tell you in private, so we need to go into an alley."
"If I didn't trust you, I would be worried," you reply. He leads you into a dark alley, hidden from the street. Then, he starts pulling his shirt off. "Peter-"
You cut yourself off when you see not Peter's bare chest, but the Spiderman suit. He rolls down the gloves, which were open and pushed back past his wrists, then he pulls the mask out of his pocket and puts it on. "Ta da...?"
"Oh, my..."
"I know this seems like a lot, but... I really want this — you and I — to go somewhere and... I didn't want to keep a secret like this from you right from the start, you know? I wanted you to know early, I just didn't know the right time. I figured now was as good as any." Your silence worries him. "... Was it?"
You nod a little. "Yeah... Yeah, I guess. I just... This is crazy."
"I know. Sorry."
"For what?" you ask. "You're Spiderman. You save people, like, everyday. I'm just... pretty shocked right now."
He pulls the mask back off. "Yeah, everybody usually is."
"Who else knows?"
"Just Ned and May. And..." He stops. "You know... everyone who knew... Tony Stark." He practically whispers his name.
Your expression turns sympathetic. "You knew him, too, didn't you?" He nods silently. He looks like he's going to cry, and the only thing you can think to do is hug him, so you do. He hugs back almost immediately.
"I'm sorry," he says, a few tears falling despite his best efforts. "I'm ruining our date-"
"No, you're not," you reply. "You're not ruining anything." You pull back enough to look at him. "I'm here for you, if you want me to be..."
He nods slightly. "I-I do..." He leans forward a little. "I really do..."
He's so close, and you want to kiss him, but you don't want to be the one to initiate it. Is now the time? Does he want to kiss you right now? He leaned forward. That plus the way he's looking at you... Should you kiss him? His eyes flick down to your lips. You should totally kiss him.
You lean forward just a little, testing the waters. He hesitates a second, then just presses his lips to yours, throwing caution to the wind. You kiss back immediately. He pulls away after a few seconds. You laugh, so he asks, "What?"
"I just kissed Spiderman in the middle of a gross alley."
"You just kissed a crying Spiderman, who was wearing pants, in the middle of a gross alley," he replies, laughing, too as he puts his shirt back on over the suit.
"It'll certainly be a first kiss to remember," you joke.
He rolls the gloves back up and takes your hand again, then picks up the bag with the mugs in it. After a few seconds of walking in comfortable silence, he says, "Now I just wish I had painted something cute on your mug."
"I love it just the way it is."
"But even just a little heart would've made it better."
You playfully roll your eyes. "There doesn't need to be a heart on it for me to know that it was made with love."
He chuckles, then kisses your temple. "Yeah, yeah."
A few moments later, your brows furrow. "Wait, so do you just... wear the suit everywhere you go?"

There are few times in your life that you've been more nervous than right now. You can't imagine why. She's just a sweet, smiling woman sitting at a table, and she looks happy to meet you. You smile back, trying to mask your nerves. Peter is smiling, too. "May," he says, "this is Y/N."
"Hi," you say.
She stands and gives you a hug, so you hug back. "Hi." She pulls back enough to look at you. "It's so wonderful to finally meet you. Peter talks about you all the time."
Peter blushes. "Yeah, yeah — anyway..." He gestures to the empty chairs at the table, so you sit down. He sits next to you.
"I was going to make dinner, but Peter said we should do Thai," May says.
"I love Thai," you reply. "Ever since Peter took me here a couple weeks ago, I can't get enough of it."
You continue talking, already feeling more comfortable around her. Peter just smiles, watching two of his favorite people in the world getting along. He's going to start feeling like a third wheel soon enough.
"Peter uses that mug you painted him all the time," May's saying. Peter blushes again, just happy you didn't eat dinner at their apartment. She would surely have the baby pictures out by now.
"I use the one he painted me all the time," you admit. "I rarely use any other mugs anymore."
"Peter doesn't either. I think you guys should do that again. You could paint matching plates."
"That's a great idea!"
Peter chuckles, shaking his head. You fit in just fine, like he knew you would.

Remember when you were nervous about meeting May?
Yeah. Nothing compares to the nerves you feel right now.
"May should've came with us," you say, holding Peter's hand tightly as you walk toward the nice, home-y house in almost the middle of nowhere.
"You'll be fine," Peter assures you. "They'll love you."
"Yeah, I hope so."
You've been so nervous about meeting this side of Peter's "family" that May genuinely offered to tag along to calm your nerves, but Peter thought that wasn't necessary. He's one hundred percent certain everyone will love you, and you have nothing to worry about.
You reach the house, your heart seemingly beating harder with every step. Peter rings the doorbell, and Pepper Stark answers. She hugs him first. "Peter! It's so good to see you." She pulls back, then hugs you. "And you must be Y/N! He never stops talking about you."
She ushers you both in. You see the living room on your right, then the stairs, then the large dining room. James Rhodes (a.k.a. Rhodey, a.k.a. War Machine) is setting the table. Happy, whom Peter and May have told you about, is visible through the doorway into the kitchen.
You exchange greetings with Rhodey, then Happy when he comes in from the kitchen. You wonder where Morgan is — Peter talks about her all the time — but you don't have to wonder for long.
"Peter!" she shouts happily, running down the stairs. Pepper shouts at her to be careful, but Peter hurries over and plucks her off the stairs before she reaches the ground and holds her on his hip.
"Hey, Spidergirl," he says. "There's somebody I want you to meet." He walks back over to you. "This is Y/N."
She leans over to Peter and whispers, though you can still hear her. "Is she your girlfriend?"
Peter nods, chuckling. "Yeah."
"Hi," you say sweetly. "I'm Y/N. It's great to meet you. Peter talks about you all the time."
"It's nice to meet you, too," she replies, smiling a little.
"Dinner's almost ready, so you can go make yourselves at home," Pepper says. Peter leads you and Morgan to the living room.
Peter sets Morgan down, then sits on the couch. You go to sit next to him, but Morgan stops you, grabbing your hand. "Come see my room!"
She sounds excited, so you go with her, glancing back at Peter. He smiles and gives you a thumbs up. Pepper watches you go, then tells Peter to come to the kitchen.
////
Morgan leads you into her room, which, you think, is nicer than yours. Her bed is against the closest wall, next to a nightstand that's just inside the doorway. A closet and a dresser are on the left and right walls, respectively. On the back wall is a multitude of toys, all organized in bins, though some are out on the floor. In front of the bins is a nice little table with a pink tea set on it. Four little chairs are around it.
She instructs you to sit at one of them, so you do. You notice superhero stickers stuck to the tea set — mostly the tea pot. You spot Spiderman and smile.
She puts a stuffed bunny in one chair, then a large Hulk action figure — which is wearing a tutu — in the other. She sits in the chair across from you, then begins making imaginary tea.
It's then that you realize that Pepper, Happy, and Rhodey weren't the ones you needed to be worried about meeting.
It was Morgan.
She pours some tea into your cup. "Sugar?" she asks, though not necessarily gently.
You nod. "Yes, I'd love some sugar."
After preparing yours, hers, Hulk's, and the stuffed bunny's tea, she leans forward with her elbows on the table. "So."
"So," you say, a little anxious. You pretend to sip your tea.
"You're Peter's girlfriend."
It was more of a statement than a fact, but you say, "Yes."
She squints. "For how long?"
You think for a moment. "Almost four months now."
"I see," she says. She sips her tea, and it's long, silent moment. Then, she asks, "How did you meet Peter?"
"We go to school together."
"Since when?"
"Ninth grade."
She hums in response, as that doesn't mean much to her. After a moment she asks, "Do you love him?"
You nearly spit out your imaginary tea. "What?"
"Do you love him?" she repeats calmly.
You think for a moment, then say, "Yeah, Morgan, I think I do."
"Well, I haven't heard you say it to him once," she says, pouring more tea for Hulk. "Mommy and Daddy used to say it all the time."
You sigh. "You know how there's a first time for everything?" She nods. "Peter and I have never said it for the first time yet."
"Why not?"
"We just haven't yet." You pause. "Your Mommy and Daddy had to say it to each other for the first time once, you know."
She seems shocked. "When?"
You shrug. "I don't know. Probably before you were born."
"Why won't you say it to Peter?"
"I don't know if he loves me back. He may not yet. And if I tell him too soon that might scare him away."
Morgan almost scoffs. "Peter's not scared of anything."
You snort lightly. "Good point."
"So tell him."
"I will. Someday. Hopefully soon... Because I do love him."
"How much?"
You think for a moment, then sigh. "I don't think there's a number high enough, Morgan."
"3000?" she suggests.
You chuckle. "That is a big number."
She goes to say something, but spots something — or someone — in the doorway behind you. "Peter!"
You hurriedly turn to look at him. He's blushing. You blanch. "How long have you been standing there?"
"Long enough...?" he replies unsurely. Morgan looks between the two of you. He looks at her. "Hey, Spidergirl, could you give us a minute?"
She nods and heads out, hugging Peter on the way. Peter takes the stuffed bunny out of its seat and sits down. "So... you love me, huh?" He's practically smirking.
You roll your eyes and lightly shove his shoulder. "Well, don't be so smug about it."
He catches your hand before you pull it away, then laces his fingers with yours. "I love you, too."
"Good to know."
He laughs. "So, did you just talk about me the whole time?"
You chuckle. "Yeah. It felt like an interrogation."
"Tony would be proud," he says, laughing. After a moment, he turns more serious. "I think he would've loved you, too."
You notice his eyes becoming glassy, then let go of his hand to hug him to you. "And I wish more than anything that I got to meet him."
Morgan, taking Peter more literally than he meant for her to, decides it's been a minute and comes back. She sees Peter crying and you hugging him, and slowly walks into the room, thinking something bad has happened. Peter sees her and sits up, wiping his eyes. "He-Hey, Spidergirl. Is dinner ready?"
She nods, but asks, "What happened?"
Peter picks her up. "Oh, nothing much. It's okay."
"Did you tell her you love her?"
Peter chuckles. "Yeah, I did."
She looks at you. "See? I told you he wasn't scared of anything."
You laugh, wiping your eyes. "You were right."
You all go back out to the dining room, where Happy, Rhodey, and Pepper are already sitting. The food is in the middle of the table. You go to sit down, and Morgan practically wriggles out of Peter's arms to sit next to you. Peter sits on her other side.
She sees what dinner is and grins, high-fiving Happy across the table. "Cheeseburgers!"
