14. Cryptic
°Never regret anything, because at one time it was exactly what you wanted.
In the end we only regret the chances we didn't take.
~Paige~
I woke up to the ringtone of my phone.
It was a good dream.
I picked up my phone without looking at the caller ID and held it to my ear, with my eyes still closed.
"Paige! Hi," Chloé exclaimed? enthusiastically.
"Don't you think it's too early?" I said irritated, in a sleepy voice.
"No darling! You've got to wake to reality," she hissed.
Oh Chloé! I got up and sat down, I switched on the lights and clicked the remote to open the curtains.
The light shined in and burned my eyes.
"Guess with who I went out yesterday," I said excitedly.
"Dylan, yay!" she exclaimed extending the word.
"No Chloé," I said rolling my eyes.
"Kendall!" I said smiling.
"Oh boy! Back to your old ways. What did you guys do this time?" Chloé said, seeming unpleased.
Okay, I admit Kendall and I did things that I had no valid explanation for, but he brings out the wildest, teenage side in me. Don't blame me, we have fun and he's a great distraction from the certain person I'm always spending time with.
"No we just went...car racing," I said, trying not to tell her that I'll be doing that often.
"Paige...be careful. You don't want anything repeating," Chloé said, sounding worried.
"Oh don't worry Chloé! How's Paris?" I asked, trying to divert from the topic.
"Oh P it's amazing!" she sai,d telling me all about her trip, new friends and her workplace.
That took a fine thirty minutes. I know, we're garrulous.
"Why haven't you gone to Dylan?" Chloé said with a 'you better do your homework or else' voice.
I didn't say anything.
I wanted to go so badly, but I was trying to prevent myself from going.
I didn't know what to do!
I was lost!
All these feelings were foreign to me- and this is all because of Dylan.
Why couldn't I just stay with Kendall and avoid Dylan?
Why couldn't it be easy?
Why?
"Paige...you can't keep running away from this. How do you think Dylan is feeling right now? Being away from him will hurt the both of you. I know you're scared, Dylan's on your thoughts often. This has opened feelings you've never experienced before and you don't want that. You don't want to crave someone. It's an experience of a lifetime when you feel something different with someone. Why are you throwing it away?" she continued.
"I have Kendall," I murmured trying to convince myself and her that I didn't want Dylan.
"Dylan makes you feel differently and happy in a different way that not even Kendall could do. Every time Dylan is around, you seem so happy. I've never seen you like that before," she said, paused for a few seconds and then continued, "in the end, if two people are meant for each other they'll always find their way back. Follow your heart and it will lead you."
One hell of a lecture!
Damn Chloé.
"I've got to go, call me tomorrow. Love you, kisses," she said closing the line immediately, before I could say anything.
I quickly got up and started to get ready.
I wore a grey V top that opened a bit more and yellow pants. I chose a grey cross bag with a shade that was a little bit lighter than the skirt and a silver boho necklace.

I applied a nude shade of lipstick for a more natural look and a little eyeliner without mascara.
"Hello darling," Mom said, sitting at the dinning table having breakfast.
"Hi Mom," I said, taking a seat next to her.
"So are you going to see Dylan today?" she asked and I stopped the fork halfway, giving her 'the' glare and saying, "no, why?"
"Listen Paige...I don't know what's going on between you both, but he surely cares for you and you do too. I can see it in both of your eyes," Mom said and then she sipped her tea.
Why is everyone lecturing me today?
First Chloé, and now Mom.
What if I didn't want to see Dylan?
Oh Paige we all know you do, stop lying to yourseld.
"Mom, I want to go, but...I don't know," I said trying to understand what I wanted.
"Paige, pay attention to the little things- the clues, hints, signs and you'll know what to do," my mom said smiling.
Signs, clues. What did she mean by that!?
Today, I had to go to the university because we had some fittings for our graduation hats and coats.
Before getting to the university, I decided to stop by Starbucks to get a drink or refreshment.
I got mt drink and headed out. Walking towards the car, I spotted a heading on a newspaper which captured my attention.
-Dylan Sparks.
I stopped walking, took a deep breath and headed towards the newspaper stand. I bought the newspaper and read the name one more time and started smiling like an idiot.
Damn you Dylan. Damn you to hell!
Throwing the newspaper, I got into the car and drove off to Dylan's office.
Every bone in my body tried to stop me. My inner self even yelled at me in frustration, but I didn't answer.
As I arrived to the company, I headed straight to his office.
He had gotten a new secretary- a brunette. I found myself wondering what happened to the previous one.
You don't care Paige!
She smiled to me and said, "are you here to see Mr. Sparks?"
"Yes," I answered, smiling back at her.
"He has no meeting right now. You can go in. Do you want me to get you something?" she asked smiling.
She seemed friendly and better than the previous.
"No thank you," I said smiling sweetly at her.
I took a deep breath and headed towards the door, slowly.
He was facing the view, staring out of the window. He looked so taken in by his thoughts. There was a glint of sadness on his face.
Oh Dylan.♡
He then turned around and looked up at me and paused; I could see his face lighten up.
"Paige...you came," he said in a soft, calm voice as a small smile crept on his face.
I smiled and said "Well, I couldn't say no to macaroons."
He came towards me and swiftly hugged me and whispered a thank you.
For a minute, I felt safe, but I wasn't in danger to feel safe. I found myself craving for a longer and deeper hug. I took a deep breath, taking in his scent. Why should he smell and look so damn good?!
I've felt desolate for the past few days- this was it, this was all I needed. This was all I needed for the past few days, but I was too scared to admit.
I pulled out and said, "We don't have much time ,we have so much to do. Do you have a meeting or something?"
He looked at me, smiled in awe and said, "no no let's go."
I knew he was lying and he definitely was going to cancel, but I wouldn't let him.
He made a phone call and I could here a 'cancel it'.
Immediately I came close and said, "oh no we're not cancelling . You're making it seem as if I'm the bad influence when in fact it's the other way round."
"It's not that important."
"It is! We won't go if you don't attend the meeting...please," I said.
"I'll go to the university and check on some things for my graduation," I said, smiling and got out my sunglasses from my handbag.
"Okay...I'll pick you up when I'm done," he said winking at me as he picked up his phone, dialed a number and got it closer to his ear.
As I was about to leave, I heard Dylan say, "Paige."
I turned back to look at him and then he said, "thank you," with a wide grin on his face.
Oh Dylan you don't know how much your thank you warms my heart.
I left his office with a big smile plastered on my face.

"Hi," Dylan said as I got into his car.
"Hi," I smiled, removing the box of macaroons he got me.
"How'd you get them?" I asked Dylan and he smiled and answered, "well, I had a meeting in Paris and as I passed next to Ladurée I thought of you and your penchant for macaroons and Paris."
He thought of me? My heart fluttered and I couldn't stop the smile from forming on my face.
We went to the first two rental places on the list, but we got no rational or significant information. We stopped at the third rental place.
The guy didn't agree to say anything, but it definitely looked like he knew something. Dylan made a lavish deal to give in a munificent amount of money to the man in return of him speaking without anyone's consent.
"Some guy named Russio bought the car, but on the check, the name written was Edward Field," the guy said with a low voice.
"Edward Field!" Dylan said surprised, looking at me with a confused face, "he's the man of the year."
"I don't know sir, but please tell no one about this. Please leave before someone sees us. Be careful kids," the man said as he got up and led us towards the door.
Dylan called Alex and told him what we had just heard. Apparently, Alex wasn't just some ordinary tattoo artist, he was a professional hacker and an ex FBI investigator.
We went to a nearby restaurant until Alex had gathered the information.
I ordered fettuccine alfredo spaghetti topped with parmesan cheese and basil.
Dylan ordered chicken which was stuffed with cheese, mushrooms and sauce; it had large cooked mushrooms on the side. It looked delicious too.

As we were about to finish lunch, Alex called and Dylan signalled to me to come closer so that I'll hear what he had to say.
"I just got the deeds, but I heard there's a party tonight in his house. I could get you guys on the list, maybe you could gather more information," Alex said with a faint voice.
I looked at Dylan and nodded my head in approval whispering a 'let's go'.
"Alright we'll go, send me the details of the party," Dylan said, closing the line.
We finished our lunch and headed towards the car.
Before getting into the car, Dylan looked at me, smirked and asked "Would you like to be my date...tonight?"
"Three letters, one word- Yes," I said, letting out a small giggle as I flipped my hair and got into the car.
Don't you just love Dylan and Paige together?
I DO😉
