Chapter Fifty Two
Third Person's POV
Taehyung smiled as he watched Namjoon coming out from Jimin's house. The older didn't seem to notice him either as he walked towards his car to opened it, that's when he steps in to make his presence noticeable.
"Namjoon-hyung." Namjoon turned to him. Surprisingly, he looked at him and turned to look at Jimin's house.
"What brings you here?" Namjoon asked now staring at Taehyung, "Just checking my brother in law, Hyung." Namjoon laughed at him. Taehyung ignored it as he smiled back and watched his wasted friend.
"You?" Namjoon asked him in disbelief. "Taehyung-ah, stop the act. Since when did you care?" Taehyung smirked at the older man and wet his lips, completely invested in how Namjoon is acting right now.
"How so, Hyung?"
"You hate him, dumbass." He answered, and now Taehyung was a laughing mess. "You and Jungkook picked on him." Taehyung laughed at him again, turning his back away from the latter and touching his stomach.
Taehyung straightened up himself and gave the older man a look. "I was wondering why you two were avoiding me. Of course, the reason was none other than Jimin himself." He said to him amusingly.
"I knew you liked him but Jungkook." Taehyung pointed this out and gave Namjoon an insulting smile. Namjoon shifted his gaze, avoiding to look at the younger and that made Taehyung smile broadly.
"Every time you look at Jimin, have you ever tried to look at who he's looking at?" Namjoon glared at Taehyung but eventually looked away, clenching his jaw.
Of course Namjoon knew...
The first time he saw that was when Jungkook tied Jimin's shoelaces. Jimin was staring at him fondly, blushing profusely, but then his smile faded away as soon as he met Namjoon's gaze.
"You knew it. You know, I never doubted you. You're smart." Taehyung praised him. "Still, you took the risk. Who would have thought that Jungkook would like him back? Even I was surprised." Taehyung bursts out laughing yet again and Namjoon lose it. He approached him and pulled him by the collar, teeth clenching.
"You're a fucking cunt, you know that? Shut up." Namjoon warned him sternly, his eyes darkening. His friend just smiled in response, so he pushed Taehyung away and turned away from him.
Namjoon hurriedly entered the car and started the engine. Taehyung just stared at him until he was completely gone.
The smile on his lips also disappeared.
Taehyung looked at the gate of the house that was still open. He went inside, and found Jimin coming out of the main door, holding a dustpan. When his presence was noticed, he smiled at him and waved at the young man.
Taehyung approached the smaller, but before he could get close to him, Jimin backed away and opened the door to enter the house, but immediately stopped when Taehyung spoke.
"Why are you so scared? Loosen up. I'm not here to hurt you." Jimin slowly confronted him, and it appeared the smaller male had cried.
"Did you cry?" The taller asked him, but Jimin knew better. He wasn't concerned because his voice was full of teasing.
"You broke Namjoon-hyung's heart, didn't you? Ah, too bad. I didn't get to see that." The smaller simply stared at him, irritated.
"What are you doing here?" Jimin's question, his tone laced with annoyance. Taehyung simply smiled and said, "I want to see how well your condition is. Your brother abandoned you." He laughed.
"Did it hurt you? I thought you don't care." Teasing him and moved closer, he was one meter away from the shorter male.
"I didn't know that, but you know too well, nothing will change." He trailed off, and dared to look at Jimin with insult. "You should've expected this, you should've prepared for it." Taehyung took a step forward.
"Don't come any closer!" Jimin warned him, but he didn't listen. Jimin should be running inside the house now, but he can't. He remained glued to his place where he stood. His mind kept telling him to stay away from him, but his feet would not move.
"Watch me," Jimin's brow furrowed, and his eyes gradually widened as the thought flashed through him, "cross that fucking line and still have Seokjin by my side." Taehyung grabbed his waist and whispered in Jimin's ear.
"Still remember?" He asked the young man, he pulled his face away and meet Jimin's gaze again, "Now tell me, why I should follow what you say if I am still the one being followed in the end? Do you want to know what else I can do? I could make you mine and take you here if I wanted to." Jimin felt sick hearing that, his hands shaking with fear.
Taehyung laughed, "It was a joke!" He said excitedly, giving Jimin a suggestive look, "But if you want, I'm in. The day I get bored with your older brother, I'll come back to you." Taehyung said, with a wicked smile on his face. Jimin nervously took a step back and immediately went inside, locking the door securely.
Taehyung just laughed in response. "Geez, Jimin. Why are you so quick to fool?" He heard him say, Jimin hurriedly left and ran into his room, locking himself there.
Taehyung knocked on the door, "Jimin-ah, your brother in law is leaving, aren't you going to send me off?" He joked.
"Funny." Taehyung mumbled, then turned away from the door and he was surprised to see Jungkook in front of him. Jungkook dropped his travel bag and stared at the older suspiciously, Taehyung waved his hand and smiled.
"I just dropped by—" Jungkook cuts in. "What did you do to him?" Taehyung wasn't surprised by what he said.
"You're being too straightforward, you know?" He complained, but Jungkook just looked at him irritably.
"Is it really hard to be nice to your friend?" Taehyung teases to irritate him more.
"Cut the bullshit, shit. What did you do to Jimin?" The young man raised an eyebrow and laughed at what he said.
"I didn't do anything. You can check him out yourself." Jungkook picked up his travel bag and walked past Taehyung. He purposely bumped his shoulder out of anger. He knocked on the door but got no response.
Jungkook took his phone that was inside his pocket and looked at Taehyung as he dialled Jimin's number. The second it rang, Jimin accepted his phone call.
"Where are you?" Jungkook asked which Jimin answered.
"Are you okay?" He asked him. Jungkook sighed in relief but didn't let his guard down. He still has a strong suspicion that Taehyung did something to Jimin, even though Jimin told him that he was okay.
The latter only rolled his eyes and started to walk away.
"I'm outside now. Can you open the door for me?"
Jimin opened the door for him and when their eyes met, Jimin's fear suddenly disappeared. Jimin simply peeked around, he is making sure that Taehyung is really gone.
"Who are you looking at?" Jungkook was flustered at that question, and Jungkook wondered why he was acting this strange. Jimin shook his head, he looked down and grabbed Jungkook's wrist and pulled him inside.
Jungkook put down his travel bag and the shorter man watched him. "Why are you here? And why did you bring your stuff?" Jimin asked, looking puzzled. They are both standing now in the living room. When Jimin noticed that Jungkook was just looking at him and didn't answer, he frowned even more.
"Are you okay?" He asked, Jimin was confused. "Why did you cry?" Jimin's eyes widened and he touched his cheek, "Ah, I didn't cry, I fell asleep." It was a lie, and Jungkook wasn't buying it.
"I saw Taehyung-hyung earlier." Jimin averted his eyes from him. He didn't want to make a big deal out of it.
"We talked, that's all." Jungkook held his arms, looking at him deeply in the eyes. "You can tell me, Jimin-hyung." Jungkook persuaded.
"Did he hurt you?" He asked, Jimin stared at him and shook his head. Jungkook is looking into his eyes as if he was searching for an answer through them, and when he saw it, he smiled softly and nodded his head.
Jungkook removed his hands off Jimin and gestures him to sit with him, "I told Hoseok-hyung that..." Jungkook begins, "I'll stay here for you to don't feel alone, at all. Hoseok-hyung said it was a great idea." Jungkook placed his hand on Jimin's thigh and patted it lightly, not breaking their eye contact.
"Don't worry, I didn't tell him about us. We still haven't talked about it, but I'm okay with everything." Jimin put his hand on top of Jungkook's, he stared at it and nodded his head.
***
Jungkook stared at the smaller male's face as he slept. Jimin's head was resting in his arms. He smiled softly and moved his hair behind his ear.
Jungkook did it... he broke up with his girlfriend for Jimin.
He chose to be with Jimin and ended his 3-year relationship with his girlfriend. Jungkook feels like it was bound to happen, whether he was with Jimin or not he can never look at his girlfriend the same way again after catching feelings for another person.
But he can never not feel guilty over the breakup. He initiated the breakup for someone else, and that's awful. He wishes the circumstances were different, but he needs to choose, and this was his choice.
"I knew you would say this."
Jungkook pressed his eyes shut and felt his chest tighten as he remembered their conversation a few hours back.
"You have been treating me differently for months, and completely ignoring me for weeks already. It's only a matter of time before you could bring yourself to tell me this."
"I knew long distance relationship won't work between us, I guess it was just so foolish of me to think otherwise."
"I'm sorry." The only words he could manage to say.
"You know I can't hate you, right?"
"...."
"I just have to move on. You know, I don't like forcing myself to be with someone who has fallen out of love." She joked lightly as she sobbed on the other line, and it seemed like a very strong slap for him. She's too kind. Jungkook wanted her to shout at him, curse at him, just like she always does when they fight, but what she's doing right now only makes the guilt that Jungkook feels worse.
"I guess this is the end for us."
Jungkook went out of the house and sat there for a few moment.
Jungkook had never once thought of settling with her because he didn't feel that she was really the one for him. He regrets it now because he stole Dabi's life for three years; perhaps if he hadn't started their relationship, Dabi could have found someone for her, someone who could see the future with her.
"Jungkook?"
When he heard that, he immediately got up and went inside. They met in the middle. Jungkook may be at fault for doing such a thing to Dabi, but when he sees Jimin, it just feels so right. His happiness that he felt for Jimin was different; he could only focus on him and forget his worries. His mind was just clouded by Jimin.
Jungkook steps forward, pulls him into his arms, "Did I wake you up?" Jungkook asked the shorter male, his tone tinged with concern.
"You weren't there when I woke up." Jimin replied, not directly answering Jungkook's question. He wrapped his arms around Jungkook's neck and hugged him, his lips pressing against the latter's clothed shoulder.
Jungkook slid his hands and reached for the smaller waist. "Did it scare you?" Jungkook asked pressing a light kiss on the sides of Jimin's head. He didn't answer and Jungkook didn't push it, he didn't ask him again and hold him just close enough to make him feel safe.
