All I kept hearing on and off were sirens. Then commotion. I was in and out of consciousness. I would hear them speaking but couldn't really tell what they were saying. I eventually felt them moving me on the stretcher. I heard doors, the elevator and murmurs. I just couldn't open my eyes. They felt so heavy. Finally I felt them stop. I felt someone ripping my clothes apart. I felt someone wrapping a band around my belly. I felt them placing an IV into my hand. I heard them murmuring again. And then I heard Lila's heartbeat. But it was very light. I was trying to focus because my mind was just grasping whatever it wanted to but I just simply wanted to hear her heartbeat. To know she was ok.

I suddenly felt an extreme pain in my abdomen. I began to scream. I couldn't hear anything anymore, just my screams. I felt them holding me down. But the pain was excruciating. I couldn't stop screaming. Finally it simmered down but I still felt pain. Then I heard them say, "The baby's heart rate went down as she went through that. If it happens again we might have to do an emergency c-section so the baby is safe. And so we can do X-rays and see if anything is broken." Who were they talking to? "But what about the father? He's also getting checked at this moment. He wouldn't want to miss the birth of his first child." It's a very familiar female voice. But I couldn't register who it was. "Depending on how severe his injuries are, they can determine if he's allowed to be in the room with her." I felt the tears coming down my face. How could I have Lila this early and without Luka. About five minutes went by and there was the pain again. I started screaming, holding on to my belly. I felt them trying to hold me down again. I felt them struggling. The pain was beyond bearable. I'm pretty sure you could hear my screams throughout the entire building. I heard some reckless beeping and murmurs. When I was finally able to stop screaming, that's when I heard them. "Find out if the father can come. We need to get the baby out before she doesn't make it." My heart shattered.
