Ayo

It's Monday again. Mom was thankfully taking us to school. Ire and I have been behaving awkward around each other but I actually don't mind cause now I know how he sees me. He thinks I need his self pity or empathy. Puhleez.

We were all in the car while my mom turned the radio to the news. I just pray I can get some headlines or something sensible outta this cause my mom might start questioning us.

I tried replaying all what happened during the weekend. I was able to attend church with Mum for a very long time. I love church, there's just this feeling of peace and love to know that God still cares about the storms we all are in.

That Sunday I realized, I couldn't be caged up anymore. I need to experience happiness in my life once more. I'm not going to let my past define me. I got beauty for ashes. I smiled as I remembered writing that down yesterday.

We arrived the school gate, said our goodbyes to mum and I walked to the auditorium. I felt so alive. Life is good. I don't care anymore about my bullshit brother.

We have assembly in the auditorium but on Fridays, we have a special meetings and club meetings. I'm thinking of joining a club but not quite sure cause I'm not into Robotics or Sports.

I felt someone sit beside me, I thought it would be Micheal cause we haven't spoken since Saturday and I want to tell him everything.

"Hey." Tolu said to me. Yes, she was the one sitting beside me.

"Hey, how was your party?" I smiled at her. She was offering to me nice and I do deserve to be surrounded by people too.

"You're in a good mood today." She smiled back.

"Yeah, actually I am." I smiled even bigger and she started telling me about her party, she said she thought she saw Ire but I just shook the thought off.

When we were still chatting, the bell rang for us to start the assembly. Just then I saw Micheal. I smiled so he could see me but he ignored me completely,maybe because he was with some guys.
I had totally forgotten about it as we started the opening prayer.

I and Tolu have just been getting closer from time to time but she is a lot different from me. She has an elder sister who is a part time model and and a sister in SS3.  She is into movies and dance routines and likes Nicki Minaji, now I understand why Micheal likes her but I still don't know why he's avoiding me.

She insisted I sit with her in back row which is the most important seat in the school. The row consists of the class captain, the assistant class captain and their separate cliches. Jade seats with Lara while I now start sitting with Tolu.

Folarin seats opposite me unfortunately. He smiled at me and I just gave him a watery smile and I don't know why. Not a big fan of cute, popular guys I guess.

Classes went by and they all tried inviting me to their conversation. We talked about music but when it got to some stuff I didn't know about. I just nodded my head, like as if I was listening.

Finally, when it was lunch time I spotted Micheal on  Tolu's table.

"Hey." I greeted him, waiting for a response. "Why are you avoiding me?" I asked, pouting my lips at him.

He just gave me a nervous smile as the rest of my new friends came to the table.

"Hey baby." Tolu winked at Micheal. I looked dumbfounded.

"Oh, you have not told her yet?" She asked, noticing my look of confusion.

"What's that?" I asked.

"Excuse us." Micheal said, grabbing my hand and walking me to the Tuck shop area.

I released my hand from his grip and looked at him, waiting for the explanation.

"Well, you see. I and Tolu are kinda a thing now." He said, looking away.

I think my mouth practically dropped to the floor. I was happy for him but shocked. I'm guessing it has something to do with the party and I was right.

"Well, I told her that I really liked her and she said she did too and we kissed." He continued, was he blushing? Yep and it was so cute.

"I'm happy for you." I said and he looked at me strangely.

"Really?!" He asked surprised.

"Really, I am." I smiled at me.

"Thanks" he said. I would have hugged him but he has a girlfriend now and it was obviously why he was avoiding me.

He said it was kinda one of their ridiculous rules of dating. Dating sucks.

All the lovey dovey stuff I listen and read about coming to life. I don't think I'll believe it until it hits me in the face.

We walked up to the table and it kinda made sense that Tolu wanted to be my friend cause of her boyfriend, Folarin is gonna be so jealous. I laughed mentally at how his face will look.

Tolu smiled when we got back but I think the whole table knew about their new relationship before me.

I am among the few science students offering French, so I walked to the library. He wasn't in the class when I arrived but there were questions on the board. I sat down and started my work.

I finished my work and was ready to snooze off until someone called me.

"Je mapple un fille." The person greeted. It was Jide and he smirked.
I just rolled my eyes at his wrong use of words.

"Salut Jide." I greeted him.

" What did I say?" He looked confused.

"You called yourself a girl mumu." I said.

"God forbid." He said.

"What's that to mean?" I raised my eyebrows.

"Nothing, I just can't imagine myself carrying eggs."

"Jesus.." I buried my head in my palms.

"Yunno, that's why I left Biology class. Yuck."

I rolled my eyes. "What do you want to tell me." I said. Just then our teacher came back and apologized in French for his lateness but we understood,he had a lot of classes because he is also a part time lecturer.

"Why do you like this class so much?" Jide said.

"I just want a to learn a new language."

"Just download Duolingo." He said.

"I already have it."

"Too much learning can kill. Take a chill pill."

"Sure, I'll take one once you tell me the real reason you are here."  The teacher was marking our work one by one.

"Okay okay, I just came to see you." He smiled at me.

"Awwwn, you're so sweet."

"I'm serious." He blushed.

"Okay." I replied casually.

I was next, so I left lover boy and walked up to my teacher's table. He's really nice to me cause I'm among the few who takes this class important.

I walk back to my seat and Jide is still grinning at me and I just roll my eyes.
My teacher starts teaching and I try to ignore Jide mocking me as I take note.

"It's already in your note so why write it." He asked.

"You, beside Ayomide." My teacher pointed at Jide who looked dumbfounded. " Tell us which one is right for the sentence." Mr. Alao asked him. I just laughed to myself at Jide's horrified look.

"Uhmm, I don't know." He said, his voice cracking.

"Are you to be here?" He asked, glaring at him.

" No, not really. I just like your class and was wondering how it will go." He said with a plain face.

What a lie.

"That's nice." He just says and allows my visitor to sit and he gives me a wink.

Sola
I sit and enjoy my book of Coco Pops while my cousin gets ready for  work.

"Am I going to school today?" I asked.

"Not yet, they are just getting you into a class and I'm going to get your uniform today." Dara informs me and says something about difficulty with my papers or something which is not surprising.

"Okay thanks." I manage to smirk at her which lightens her up a bit.

"I am sorry about what happened yesterday." She said, pouting her lips like a five year old.

"It's okay, I know you just want to try and show me that they have changed." I shrugged my shoulders.

"And I'm sorry too for shouting, especially in your house." I chuckled a bit.

"Thanks for being understandable." She said, trying to touch my head which I dodge but she ends up patting my back.

Dotun storms out of his room trying to knot his tie.

"Someone must have woken on the wrong side of the bed this morning." Dara commented.

"Top of the morning to you chap." I greeted him in a fake British accent, knowing fully well he has a friend who just came back from England and can't stop talking about the 'beautiful'  accent.

He just smiled at me. "You're lucky you have the house all to yourself." He commented. Apparently, he has been awake and overhead our conversation.

"Yes I am, I can't wait to blow it up." I gave a devilish smirk.

"Like you could do that, you're such a n..." Dotun was about singing my praises but I cut him short.

"A nice, cute and amazing guy right? I know." I stand up from my chair and stroke a hero pose. My cousins glared at each other for a couple of minutes and start to laugh hard.

"Sure." They said at the same time.

"Eyyyy." I whined when Dotun took a spoonful out of my cereal.

"It's called sharing bro." He said as he stuffed more in his mouth. I dislike it when people just start eating my food so I just left it and Dara joined him to finish it. Babies.

"Bye, don't get into trouble and keep your phone with you." They both scolded me.

"Yes parents." I rolled my eyes as I took out my phone and realize that Dotun left his WiFi on.

I think I'm going to enjoy my day but first, I'm still hungry.

....

After having a shower, I was still debating on waffles or pancakes. So I stick with Pancakes. Dara made Jolloif rice before she left, so I had no worries whatsoever.

I flip through channels and watched random stuff like Teen Titans Go and and SpongeBob.

After cleaning up after myself, I read some notes I had put off which meant like all of them and I practice some past questions.

When like two hours are gone, I go and sleep. But when I checked the time, I was thinking about the school food that would be served right now. I just love my food and music.

I stick my earbuds to my ears and allowed Ed Sheeran rock me to sleep.

"Ire was found this girl, Jennifer who's cute and other boring stuff he said about her, then Tade came and started talking about her. I think they had a past and it annoyed Ire, so got into a fight. Tade unfortunately came out of the car where we was and continued fighting with Ire untill I came home and things happen." Jide summarized.

"So you're trying to say that Ire went to a party to find a chick, get drunk and beat a guy." I raised an eyebrow.

"Yep." He laughed and put his lollipop back into his mouth.

"Well that's nice to hear, he enjoyed himself." I shrugged.

"Hey, I'm so sorry about what happ.." He started.

"Don't mention it, it ain't your fault. Although you did drive?" I whispered the last part to myself.

He walked me to class, we fortunately had a free period. It was nice how he treated me.

He smiled at me and I did too before entering my class. I sat down beside my new friends.

"I never knew you had a cut boyfriend." Jade said.

"Oh..you mean Ire." I smiled when I remembered he walked me here and they got the message wrong.

"We are not dating." I concluded.

"Sure, the way he looks at you is not obvious." Lara said sarcastically.

"To bad cause Folarin likes you." Tolu said and was looking at her long fingernails, trying to avoid eye contact.

"Sure." I rolled my eyes. I don't get why it is hurting Tolu and I don't know why he would decide to like me cause I did not write "interested" on my uniform.

I looked at his direction and he smiled back when he caught me. That was embarrassing. I just smiled when Lara was telling one of her tales of being a model.

Folarin will probably say it himself.

I have had enough drama in my own life.
