jack's pov:

"you have a sweet-looking ass." why did i say that? i just hope alex didn't hear me. besides, he was on the other side of the room, and he was just leaving, so there was a small chance he didn't hear me, and i hadn't said it extremely loud either. maybe i was just being hopeful. that's most likely. oh well, a boy can dream, i guess.

"wait, what?" alex turned around quickly. if he turned around any faster, he would've probably given himself whiplash. his eyes had widened. i was also pretty much speechless. i'm definitely not repeating what i just said. i'd much rather die on the spot than say that when i knew he was on one hundred percent listening.

for god's sake, jack. why'd you do this to yourself? i should stop thinking, and actually answer alex's question. i was just making myself seem even more suspicious now. i was still holding onto my theory that he hadn't actually heard me, and he'd just picked up that i'd said something, but didn't know exactly what. but i knew he'd heard me. i need to come up with some bullshit excuse now.

and, in classic jack fashion (of course), i said the first thing that came to mind. it didn't even rhyme with my original comment. i'm such a goddamn idiot.

"you have nice eyes." i looked at the floor, knowing that i was just digging myself into a deeper grave. i didn't even have the time to consider what coffin i wanted to imagine climbing into before alex replied.

"i think i liked the first one better." alex winked at me and smirked, promptly exiting the room. well, that could've gone worse, i guess.

but what did he mean, he "liked the first one better?"
