So this one is sorta a redraw/slight redesign of an oc ive had for years but havent really done anything with. Im pretty sure i made her an scp at some point for some reason but that isnt canon to her XD

I drew this as a freehand practice actually and i didnt expect to really finish it off like this, but welp. And for some clarification on freehand practice, i drew this with very minimalistic guidelines, not even a sketch. It was basically a few ovals and a handful of lines to mark the general pose and then i went straight into lineart.

I highly encourage beginning artists to practice freehanding with little to no sketch, because it can help a lot with finding and developing an art style and building muscle memory. Without a sketch it might not look absolutely perfect but it can still help you learn anatomy and proportions by making you zoom out or step back and look at the drawing, figuring out what does and doesnt look correct from afar.

I find that freehanding also helps a lot with posing and making poses that are more natural or cartoony when a sketch might turn out too stiff or robotic.

And for anyone curious, scorch is an Akita. She used to be a wolf but compared to other wolf ocs of mine, she always looked and acted more doglike and almost always had a very fluffy curled tail, so i just went with it and changed her species. Now shes a good doggo :D (she also went through a small phase of being a tail-mouth but i didnt really like it so that idea was scrapped)

Even though i had to change it slightly because she used to be saturated as fuck but i toned her down to have softer colors and be easier on the eyes
