I stopped at his words,
His oh so soft blue eyes alight;
"I'm so sorry, Jake."
"For what my love?"

Love?
He called me his,
Made him mine,
But I know it won't last so fine.

My hands shook,
In fear of his look,
That could read me like a book;
Yet never told me anything of that sort.

"I don't love you."
Tears swelled in pain,
But my lies weren't lost in vain.

"But."
I put my fingers to his lips,
Holding them shut,
I wish I could hear more,
I wish he'd call me 'love' one last time.

"But I know who does."
He shook his head, no,
Breaking me even more.

"Only you."
Jake whispered,
While I felt blue.

"Only Sophie."
I whispered,
You were my fine prize trophy.

"No."
He said,
His visage drowned in disbelief.

"I need you to love her."
I begged for you.

"No."
My heart felt as cold as snow.

"Love her for me."
"But—"
"Please..."

He searched my deep blue eyes,
Whilst I let all love for him die,
I will never watch by,
And listen to your cries.

"For you."
The corners of my lips smiled.
A smile forged for the request I hadn't failed.

"That's all I ask."
But I had so much more to say...
