Chapter 24

Sketches

Alicia Knights had been spending more time with Pan.

He insisted it was because he needed to keep a close eye on her after her allergic reaction to the potion.

Alicia didn't care otherwise, because with him being around her all the time, it meant she had new privileges she didn't have before. Pan took her to the lake every other day so she could swim and exercise. They spent time collecting shells, swimming around and Alicia even introduced him to her otter friends.

"This is Peanut and this is Butter," Ali said, pointing to each otter as she said their names. Pan's lips twitched up as the otters swam up to greet him.

Alicia and Peter had developed an interesting relationship. Felix and Slightly occasionally called them the bickering old married couple. Although they both hated it when they were called that, Alicia and Peter couldn't deny it. They both were very stubborn and constantly butted heads.

Eventually, the quirks they both had didn't bother the other and they learned to live with it.

"Stop it."

"Stop what?"

"You know what, now stop it," Peter muttered as he braided her hair. Alicia grumbled before lowering her hand. Somehow, without being able to see, Pan knew Ali was biting her nails. It was a nasty habit she simply couldn't shake.

Peter finished her braid and placed some flowers into it, just like Felix told him to do.

"Your hair is hard to braid," Peter commented as he stood up, helping Alicia to her feet as well.

"Of course it is, it's curly as hell and thick. It takes three brushes for the maids to dig out all the knots after I sleep," Ali snarked. She took a moment to admire her hair in the hand mirror Pan had gifted her and she was pleased.

"Next time I go to another realm, what do you want me to bring you?" Peter questioned as they both made their way to fire pit for breakfast. Alicia clicked her tongue as Slightly handed her a plate of food.

"I don't know. Maybe a book," she inquired. She scoffed down her food as Peter ate slowly. Pan made many trips to other lands for unknown reasons and he refused to tell Ali about it. Although he refused to tell her about his trips, he always did bring back a present so the princess had something to entertain herself with. He was tired of hearing her whines.

"A book? Any genre specifically?"

Alicia shook her head.

"Just make it a long book. I need it to last," she said. Peter made a mental note and nodded.

It didn't take long for the lost boys to finish eating. It was Training Day, so the boys quickly got their weapons ready to do their training. As the boys began to fumble among themselves, Ali took her usual spot on her log. She sharpened a stick and watched the boys. Pan didn't allow her to train with the others.

It didn't matter much to her. Alicia enjoyed her time alone. It allowed her a moment to clear her head of cloudy thoughts.

Ali was halfway done with her third basket when she saw Pan nearing her. He handed her a basket and silently, he headed off into the forest. The princess followed closely and they ended up at the fruit orchards.

"You take the left, I'll take the right," Peter said. Alicia nodded before hitching up the skirt of her dress and beginning to climb an orange tree. She frowned when the skirt caught onto a branch. She accidentally ripped the cloth when she yanked too hard on it and sighed.

"For fuck's sake," she hissed. Alicia cursed in her head. As she argued with herself over the dress, Pan glanced at her curiously from an apple tree. He watched as her dress kept getting caught in the branches. Without hesitation, she flicked his wrist and magic consumed Ali. When the magic cleared, Alicia's dress was replaced with some leggings and a nice corset top, something similar he once saw Ali wear before.

The princess stared down at her new outfit surprisingly but when she turned to look at Peter, he simply refused to look at her. With a shrug of her shoulders, Alicia continued to pick oranges.

"I have something to show you later," Peter commented once they had finished collecting fruit. Alicia tilted her head and frowned.

"Where are we going?"

"Somewhere here on Neverland. Near the north side of the island," he responded as they trailed back to camp. Alicia nodded and didn't question him any more.

Ali entered their tent and threw herself onto the bed. All she really wanted was a nap before Pan dragged her all over the island.

But before Alicia could slip into a slumber, Peter walked into the tent and began searching for his favorite knife. Ali peeked at him with a frown.

"I'm trying to sleep, pinhead," she hissed. Peter only scoffed.

"Then sleep. I'm looking for my knife," he mumbled. Alicia groaned and grabbed a pillow before covering her face. Once she heard that he had left, she tried again to fall asleep.

Instead, Slightly and Felix came busting in.

"I hate everyone on this island," she growled before sitting up and glaring at the loud boys.

"What do you want?! I'm trying to sleep!" She snapped but the boys had their backs to her.

"We're helping Pan with something, ignore us," Slightly said as he began to search through these trunks as Felix filed through lose papers. Alicia let out a loud exasperating groan before throwing the covers off and standing up. She tied on her shoes and cloak. She glared one last time at the lost boys and stomped out.

"Princess, you ready to go?" Peter suddenly said as he appeared next to her. Alicia sighed as he took her arm and away into the forest they went again.

"All I really wanted was a nap."

~

Alicia and Peter were both really the silent type. They didn't say much as Ali stayed close to Pan, not wanting to stray from his side. She didn't know the north side of the island much and she knew that if she got lost, she would probably die.

After trotting in the jungle for a while, Peter and Alicia came to the entrance of a cave. Ali narrowed her eyes.

"Where are we? This isn't Echo Caves, is it?" She asked. Peter shook his head and snapped his fingers, allowing the torches lined against the wall to light up with fire.

"Come," Peter spoke as he entered the cave. Alicia stuck close. The cave was humid and scary. Ali wasn't a big fan of the dark and even with the torches, she was a little scared.

Inside it looked like a messy office. Papers were scattered everywhere and a map of different realms we're hung around. Books littered the entire place and Alicia frowned at the mess.

"What is all this?"

"Research," Pan simply said as he used his knife to cut some twine off of a stack of papers. Ali sat down on a nearby chair and watch Pan continue to look for whatever he needed.

He finally found a couple of papers. Glancing at the girl, he stood in front of her.

"Your birthday is in a couple of days," he commented.

Alicia was taken back. Of all the things she expected, she definitely didn't expect Pan to say that.

"My birthday?" She muttered. She didn't remember the last time she celebrated her birthday. The many curses and time halts that occurred in Storybrooke caused her aging to decrease, along with everyone else from the Enchanted Forest as well.

"Peter, I don't celebrate my birthday."

"I know, but to show you that I'm not a complete heartless monster, I got you a gift," Peter said, "besides, it could be helpful to me in the long run."

Alicia scrunched her eyes as Pan handed her some papers. On them, she found sketches of a boy, seemingly around her age. The boy had their signature dark hair and blue eyes. His skin was slightly tanner than Ali's but still resembled a similar paleness. His cocky smile was seen on the rest of the sketches.

Ali still didn't understand. She glanced back up at Peter who had been watching her reaction carefully.

"Who is this?"

"That is your older brother, Flynn Rider."

Alicia thought she was going to puke.
