Heather smiled cheerfully at her brother and her new sister-in-law. The two had been wed only a few hours ago, and the ceremony was coming to a close. Heather and Astrid were chatting around the edges of the emptying clearing before the Dragon Rider had to leave.

"So, I know you and Fishlegs didn't end up working out, but are there any cute boys you've come to be fond of?" Astrid asked, nudging her raven-haired friend suggestively.

"Well, there is one, but um.. h-he isn't a, you know-"

Astrid gasped, cutting Heather off. "Oh my Thor!" she whispered excitedly. "You're into girls?"

Heather nodded sheepishly, blushing slightly.

"C'mon, you need to tell me who it is!" Astrid said, gripping Heather's shoulder.

"What's the point, though? She's already married," Heather sighed. "And besides, I'm fairly certain she's straight."

Astrid thought for a moment. "Is it Mala?"

Heather slapped her hand over Astrid's mouth. "How the hell-"

"Lucky guess. Ok, the girl you like is married to your brother, that's bad," Astrid said. "So what are you going to do?"

"There's nothing I can do, Dagur is my brother."

"Oh well," Astrid sighed.

"Astrid! We're leaving!" Hiccup called.

"Coming!" Astrid called back. "Well, I hope you figure it out," she added to Heather before leaving.

Little did they know, a certain short haired strawberry-blonde had heard the whole thing.

Heather skipped another stone across the water.

It was around midnight, and Heather was still wondering about her conversation with Astrid earlier.

Was there really nothing she could do? Mala was her sister-in-law for Thor's sake! But still...

The hairs on the back of her neck stood on end, and she turned to see none other than Mala herself standing there.

"Oh, hello Mala," Heather said, giving the queen a nod.

"Heather, how are you?" Mala asked. She wasn't wearing her armor, instead she was wearing a plain black long sleeved shirt and a pair of black pants Heather wasn't sure the material of. Her was slightly messy as though she'd just woken up. She looked a lot different than her usual, formal self, but Heather thought it made her look cute.

No, bad Heather. She's your brother's wife for Odin's Sake! Heather scolded herself.

"I'm fine, not tired, though," Heather replied neutrally.

"As I can see," Mala observed. "I woke up and figured I'd take a walk, but then I saw you down here. What is it that you're doing?"

"Skipping rocks," Heather shrugged.

"It looks interesting, will you teach me?"

Heather nodded and picked up a flat rock. She tested its weight, then motioned for Mala to join her.

The green-eyed queen did so, and Heather put the rock into her hand. The raven-haired girl moved behind her and placed her hands over Mala's. Heather blushed, just a little, and helped move Mala into a better position.

"Now, you're going to want to hold the stone flat, and pull your arm back here," Heather said, pulling Mala's arm back a little,  "and when you throw it, do it like you would a one-handed side-cut, and don't let go 'til you get about.. here."

Mala nodded and tried it. She managed to skip it three timed before it plunged into the depths of the ocean.

"Good job! On my first try, I didn't manage to skip it even once," Heather praised.

Mala giggled. She actually giggled. It wasn't her normal, short laugh, it was an actual giggle.

Heather's heart nearly stopped. Mala was just so cute right now.

Regaining her composure, Heather let Mala try a couple more before she returned to skipping her own rocks.

Finally, after almost an hour of comfortable silence, broken only by the splashes of the rocks, Mala yawned, and turned to Heather. "This has been fun, Heather," Mala said, turning to the girl.

"Yes, it has," Heather stated, smiling slightly.

Mala then did something Heather was not expecting. She walked up to her, and kissed her on the lips.

It was short, no more than a second long, but Heather felt her heart start to pound.

"Thank you for teaching me about skipping stones," Mala said, then walked off.

Heather could have been standing there for hours, or maybe minutes, she wasn't sure, but the green-eyed beauty smiled, and licked her lips.

Maybe having Mala as a sister-in-law wouldn't be so bad.

~~~~~~
I was really disappointed that we didn't get to see more of Heather in season six
