The grocery shop and a dark boxy smirk was the last thing he could remember. So as he opened his eyes Hoseok nearly shouted aloud from the shock of the change of scenery. The room was filled with miniature fairground rides such as the merry-go-round and the Ferris wheel. All were brightly coloured, so much so the sight stung his eyes. Scanning around the room further, he noticed what seemed to be more discarded fair ground items. Popcorn carts, candy floss stands, broken horses, chipped faces of dolls that looked like they were once full of life and beauty, Hoseok knew exactly why the items in the room were there. His mother. The theme park. The lie. The lost little boy sat on the side of the merry-go-round with a lonely snickers bar slowly melting in his hands. So this is what they had in store for him. A rush of emotions ran throughout him as he took in his surroundings taking in every last torturous detail. This was his version of hell and he knew it.
Standing he was abruptly stopped by the ceiling. "OW!" He shouted. Hoseok sighed heavily and sank back to the ground his back against the vividly coloured wall. Sitting in the humid room Hoseok began to cry, his happy facade slowly crumbling away with every corrosive tear. This mask he had hidden behind slowly melting away. "Ugh! Stop it Hoseok! You're not going to let something like this get you down. Come on!" He tried to snap out of it but the voices wouldn't let him they'd been his only friends since him mum - if he could even call her that - left him. But when he met the guys the voices, they turned on him and he hadn't had his-
"TABLES! Where are they! I'm going to go crazy if I don't have them! Oh my God!"
Suddenly panicked he frantically searched his pockets for the clear case of tablets he always kept with him. Dread and panic began to swell inside of him, his body becoming numb his mind blank with pure fear and panic. What were the voices going to do to him? What did they want? Revenge? Maybe! Soon he was shaking unable to hold the attack at bay. Tears burning his cheeks and eyes he began his decent into the fears and anxieties of his past, the insecurities he hid behind the mask, the problems he told to no-one but his reflection. Was it himself that fabricated these concepts? These fake insecurities and memories, were they just a lie he had told so many times he began to believe it himself? Or was it a harsh truth he refused to believe? Maybe he'd rather live in the comfort of lies than the pain of truth. His eyes were frantically flicking round the room. Searching for an inch of the place that didn't remind him of the pain of the past.
Now he was trembling, chest tight, lungs on fire, tears spilling messily down his face making it red and puffy. He was playing the game perfectly. Or at least the person behind the screen thought so.
The sun rose and set before Hoseok managed to pull himself out. The figure behind the screen watched, the clear case of pills in his lap, as Hoseok shook and cried in the cramped room gasping for air. A malicious smirk was plastered across their unsheathed face the stark white mask discarded somewhere throughout the cluttered room. His brown eyes bored into the bright screen watching the suffering man intently. "You have to suffer before you can truly live Hoseok." His bitter laugh rang through the room, until shaft of light cut through the space as the door opened behind him. A masked Jimin shuffled into the room muffled sobs following him. The person sat at the screens whirled around quickly to pull on his mask and voice modulator before turning to face Jimin.
"Why are you crying Jimin?" He asked trying to hide the emotion in his voice and being highly successful.
"I don't want them to suffer." Jimin sobbed his voice broken and cracked.
"They have to suffer to see the truth just like you did," they replied " or did have you forgotten the pain of the forest?"
"N-no I'm happy I really am it's just I can't stand to see them in pain." Jimin replied discarding his mask on the floor.
" I know but they need to come out of the other side, the need to be sad to be truly happy."
"Y-yeah, I guess."
