After being separated from the others, Y/n and Saeko were running down the street, searching for a route to reach Saya's house. They hid behind a wall as another horde of undead was blocking the street.

Y/n: They're here too.

Saeko: It does not seem as though we can make it back to 2-chome.

Y/n: Let's go back this way. There were none of them on the way here.

Y/n and Saeko made their way back down the street as they saw Saya's house in the distance.

Y/n: I can even see Saya's house from here

Saeko: Do you want to walk on a fence again?

Y/n: No way! If only I had a bike....

Y/n then remembered they passed by a bike shop earlier this morning. Stopping in their tracks as they turn to see the bike store next to them. Both stepping inside the shop and looking around.

Y/n: I'll pick out a bike for us. Get whatever we need for the road, Saeko.

Saeko: A bike is okay by itself, but in tandem it would be dangerous. Or are we going on a date?

He was confused at first until he look to his side seeing a picture of a couple on the wall and they laughed.

Y/n: *chuckle* Do you want it to be?

Saeko: *giggle* I wouldn't mind~

Y/n: Hehe- ow!

Y/n rub his shoulder in pain but this didn't go unnoticed for Saeko.

Saeko: Are you ok, Y/n?

Y/n: Yeah, I'm fine. My shoulder just hurt that's all.

Saeko: ...... Let me see, Y/n. I want make sure it not something serious.

Y/n: What? Saeko, I'm fine. There's no need-

Saeko: LET ME SEE, Y/N!

Y/n was taken aback by Saeko outburst.

Y/n: O-Ok, Saeko.

Y/n start taking off his jacket but the minute his jacket was off. Saeko march towards him as she pull aside his sleeve to see a bruise mark with some bite marks on his shoulder from earlier.

Y/n: See, Saeko. It didn't break the skin.

Saeko gently touch the bruise mark on his shoulder, Y/n wince a bit from the touch.

Saeko: Does it hurt when I touch it.

Y/n: A little but it isn't serious like I said.

Saeko let go of his sleeve as Y/n put on jacket again.

Saeko: I-I had to make sure you didn't get infected. I don't want imagine, what I'll do if...

Y/n: Saeko, that's never going to happen I can promise you. I'm too stubborn to go down that easily.

Saeko: *giggle* Your right about that, even during our sparring together back at school. You never know when to give up.

Y/n: That's who I am, Saeko.

Saeko: *thought* And the reason what I love about you~

However, unknown to Y/n and Saeko that a bit of blood started seeping from his wound showing that the undead did bite through his jacket a little and infected Y/n. But he shows no signs of infection taking progress...

Saeko: Hey, I wonder what's in there?

Saeko looked in a dark room and turned on the
lights to reveal a kind of buggy sitting in the room.

Saeko: Would this work?

Y/n looks over a manual book belonging to the buggy seeing its not only drivable on land is also amphibian on water.

Y/n: This is an Argo 8x8 Avenger 700. This buggy is considered amphibious, so it should work both on land and water.

Getting on the vehicle, he checks it out for himself.

Y/n: Not bad.

Saeko: Did I ever tell you how much I like your taste?

Y/n: Heh, you flatter me, Saeko. Come on, we should gather those supplies before we get ready to go.

After packing up the supplies inside a duffel bag, Y/n and Saeko were now driving down the freeway. As they were driving, they saw an upcoming horde of undead in the way.

Saeko: What an amusing situation we find ourselves in.

Y/n: Yeah, you got that right.

Saeko: So what shall we do from hereafter? I assume you have a plan?

Y/n: Yup! But...

Saeko: But?

Y/n: Things could get a little too amusing.

Saeko: Gosh. Never change.

Y/n: Hang on!

Y/n then drove the buggy off road and down the embankment towards the riverbank as the undead began falling down the stairs following after them.

Y/n: Huh, they can use the stairs, but can't walk on the slope?

Saeko: Say what you please, but they're the same in the end, huh? That would be too easy.

Y/n: Well then...

Y/n start driving the buggy toward the riverbank.

Saeko: What are you doing, Y/n?

Y/n: Using it amphibiously!

Saeko: Amphibiously? Oh shit!

Y/n drove the buggy into the river, getting away from the undead.

Y/n: Saeko, are you o-kaaay?

Y/n turned around and blushed to see Saeko was completely soaked in water and he could see her purple bra in her now see through clothes.

Y/n: Uhhhhhh.....

Saeko: I-I am a woman!

Y/n: Oh, yes! Sorry!

After an hour passed, the undead began to leave the embankment as Y/n and Saeko were still in the water with the buggy. He sighed in relief as they left, Saeko whispered into his ear.

Saeko: It is not admirable for a young man to sigh.

Y/n: Uh, okay. But, wait, Saeko-san! You're too close!

Saeko: How about you keep your voice down now?

Y/n: Right, let me drive the buggy toward the sandbank so we can think on what we're going to do next.

Y/n drove to the Buggy toward sandbank in the middle of the river.

Saeko: Good idea to use the sandbank.

Y/n: I remember when I was a kid and I was always told not to play here because the water is so deep and the stream is really fast.

Saeko: Now then. Regardless of whether things work out or not, we should rest.

Y/n: Okay. We'll take turns standing guard. Saeko, you can rest first-

Saeko: Achoo!

Y/n turn around and seeing that Saeko is shivering from the cold air because of her wet clothes.

Saeko: I-I apologize... My body seems to have gotten cold.

Y/n: Oh yeah.We got splashed before, my bad.

Y/n takes off his leather jacket and wrapped it around Saeko. He then reach inside the duffel bag and pulled out a black tanktop.

Y/n: You can use this for now until your clothes dry up.

Saeko: Thank you.

Y/n turn around and waited patently as Saeko undressed herself and put on her new clothes.

Saeko: You can turn around now.

Y/n turns around to see Saeko was wearing the tanktop and the leather jacket with the bottom half of her clothing remaining the same. She wrapped her long purple hair in a long ponytail.

Saeko: Do I look strange?

Y/n: N-No! It's the other way around! Umm...

Saeko: You always look at me as a woman, don't you, Y/n?

Y/n: Sorry...

Saeko: It is fine. I am a woman, aren't I?

Y/n: Hey let me ask you is there someone you like, Saeko?

Saeko: That came out of the blue.

Y/n: Er, well... What the hell am I saying I just thought.... someone like you had a crush at least.

Saeko: Of course I have... I almost thought it was love.

Y/n: .......

Saeko: Did you have a crush on anyone before all this?

Y/n: You could say I USED to date someone back in Junior high...

Saeko: What happened?

Y/n: Let say.... thing between me and her didn't end well that's all I can say.

Saeko: ......

There was a moment of silence between them until Saeko spoke to break the silence.

Saeko: Should we leave now? There are less of them.

Y/n: Ah, yeah.

Y/n and Saeko left the sandbank and were now driving down the streets of a suburban neighborhood. As they were riding, they found more undead along the way.

Saeko: More of them. As it stands, we will just have a repeat of the sandbank.

Y/n: We'll know when we turn at the next corner!

Y/n makes a turned around the corner and began driving through one of the city parks.

Saeko: A park?

Y/n: Doesn't mean we have to make a cardboard box house!

Y/n drove the buggy into the park fountain getting Saeko wet once again.

Saeko: Do you like making girls wet?

Y/n: Just give me the tape from the duffel bag and you'll see what I mean.

Y/n wraps the tape on the steering wheel of the buggy, making the buggy go around in the fountain in a circle. This attracts the undead in the process making them all come out from their hiding spots.

Saeko: I see. Not too bad of an idea. Luring them in with the noise and using the buggy as a distraction.

Y/n: While they are drawn in by the noise. We can go out the east exit, and we'll end up behind Saya's house. I don't wanna use the gun very much because of the echo even with the silencer.

He said as he reloaded his pistol with a loaded clip.

Saeko: I see. Understood!

Saeko jumped off the buggy and began attacking the undead with her wooden sword.

Saeko: Hold it!

She stop mid fight as she point her sword at one of the undead at bay.

Saeko: What a foul smell. You should at least wash your hair. Now I have no reason to hold back!

She hit the zombie into the fountain as Kagari watched while he killed zombies with his machetes.
He witnessed Saeko just send all of the zombies flying in her path.

Y/n: Y-You're pretty cool, Saeko. *thought* No wonder she's called the swordswoman with a heart of a warrior.

Saeko proceeded to viciously attack the undead until she saw something that made her freeze in her tracks.

A group of.... undead children.

Y/n: What're you doing, Saeko?!

Y/n kills the undead in his way as he rushed towards Saeko.

Y/n: Saeko, what's the matter?!

Saeko didn't respond to Y/n. She couldn't bring herself to swing her sword on the undead children.
Y/n grabbed her out of the way and saw what made her froze. In response and with no hesitation, he raised his pistol at the undead kids.

Y/n: *thought* Rest in peace...

Squeezed the trigger twice, shooting down the undead children and giving them a quick death. Saeko was shocked by what he did to them.

Y/n: Here! Hurry!

Y/n grabbed her hand and began running with Saeko.

Later at Night...

Night has now fallen. Y/n and Saeko were now residing in an abandoned japanese shrine.
Saeko was sitting in the dark while Y/n secured the door before looking back at her.

Y/n: What happened, Saeko?

Saeko: .....

Y/n: *sigh* Traveling around at night would be dangerous with what supplies we have now. We'll wait here for morning.

He lit a candle in the center of the room as a source of light while investigating the room.

Saeko: .....

As Y/n was looking around the room, spotted a katana sitting by a stand.

Y/n: Hey, this is a real sword. Saeko look at this!

Y/n place down the katana and the duffel bag as he pulls out Saeko uniform.

Y/n: Here you go, Saeko-san. You should sit down over here first. Your uniform is dry too.

Y/n sat behind the curtains as Saeko changed into her uniform.

Saeko: I am done changing.

Y/n comes out from behind the curtains as sit in front of Saeko.

Y/n: I feel much better now. We have one, Saeko.

Saeko: We have one what?

Y/n: What indeed. One of these.

Y/n: This is a portable toilet, Saeko-sama. You can have it.

Saeko couldn't help herself but laugh.

Y/n: Hey, don't laugh about that! This way, we won't have to worry about it.

Saeko: Yes, I know. I-I am happy.

After the two calmed down, Saeko decided to ask Y/n a question.

Saeko: You are not going to pry?

Y/n: Well, it must be pretty big reason for you to freeze up like that.

Saeko: It might not mean anything to you but regardless, do you mind hearing me out?

Y/n: Sure, I'm all ears.

Saeko: I recalled when I was last so afraid.

Y/n: Was it because you saw the children?

Saeko: Though troubling, no, that was not it. When we were by the river bank, you asked if there was a man whom I liked.

Y/n: Oh, that, uh. Don't worry about.

Saeko: I do think like a woman, and there is a man whom I like. But I did not convey my feelings to him. I did not believe that I should be allowed to do so.

Y/n: But why? I mean, no matter what kind of guy-

Saeko: Do you think he would have accepted me if I had committed murder?

Y/n: ......

Flashback

Saeko: It was four years ago. A man attacked me at night. I had my training sword with me, so naturally I was able to fend him off. I broke his shoulder blade and femur. The police understood the situation and took me back home in the patrol car.

Y/n: Then they might have thought it was an excessive way to defend yourself

Saeko: That is not what has been holding me back. I enjoyed it. I had a clearly defined enemy. It was thrilling.

Saeko face became emotionless as look back at Y/n.

Saeko: Once I knew that I was on top because of my training sword, I pretended to be afraid, lured him in, and struck back without hesitation.

Saeko: And I enjoyed it. I truly, truly enjoyed it.

End of Flashback

Her face turned into one of despair with a psychotic smile.

Saeko: That is the real me! The true nature of Busujima Saeko! Do you really believe that I, drunk and turned on by my own power, should be allowed something pure like love?!

Y/n: But ever since they appeared, I've felt the same way!

Saeko: But you changed after the fact. I have been like this since before it all began.

Y/n: Saeko...

Saeko: As we stood in front of the water fountain, I came to realize that I have not changed. On the contrary, I find myself becoming even crueler.

Y/n: Saeko... stop acting like I don't understand how your feeling right now.

Saeko: Huh?

Y/n: Don't think for a minute that I wouldn't understand the feeling of empowerment of someone life.

Saeko: Y/n....

Y/n: Remember when I told you I used to date someone back at Junior high. The truth is... she never saw the light of day again.

Flashback

Y/n: It all started when I found out my girlfriend was cheating on me with her ex. It turns out, she was just using me in order to get close enough to my father investigation behind her ex so she can erase it. But by time I found out about it, it's was already too late. So, one day after school, I confronted them about it... at first I wanted to figure out why she did this to me... however, when she told me the reason, I felt heartbroken... but soon it turn into pure malice. Her ex tried shut me up by killing me and making it look like a suicide. I took the knife from him and before he even knew what was happening, I plunge the knife deep into his eye socket. I kept stabbing and stabbing until he... just stopped moving. When I looked back at my ex, I saw pure fear in her eyes. She was shivering and huddled at a corner of the room, so instead of killing her... I gave her a warning. I told her, "If you ever show your face in front of me again or tell everyone about this. I would come after you next." And to make sure she understood, I plunge the knife into her leg, crippling her for life.

End Flashback

Y/n: After that I went about my day like it never happened. Not even Rei, Saya, Takashi, Hirano, Shizuka, Alice, or even my family knows about what I did.

Saeko: Y/n....

Y/n reach forward and grab Saeko hand as he looks directly into her eyes.

Y/n: What I'm saying is I know what that feels like, Saeko. You and I are alike. So, stop treating yourself like this! BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!

Saeko: Oh, Y/n...

Y/n and Saeko both leaned towards each other, sharing a passionate kiss as the night went by the next day.

The next Morning....

It was morning as Saeko and Y/n exited the shrine, noticing there was a fog in the area.

Y/n: Let's go out the back. It'll take us 20 minutes to walk to Saya's house.

Suddenly out of nowhere a horde of undead made their way up to the shrine.

Y/n: What the?! Was it the sound of the leaves? No, there's no way. Why?! Run, Saeko-san! We have to make a run for it!

However, Y/n look back at Saeko seeing her being hesitant as she clench the katana close to her. He walks up to her as she looks back at him with fear in her eyes.

Y/n: Saeko?

Saeko: Y/n... I can't do it.

Y/n pulls Saeko into an hug, embracing her as he refuses to let her go. Saeko could feel the same warmth from last night as she blushes from his embrace.

Y/n: If you need a reason, I'll give you one! Saeko, no matter how dirty your hands are, I'll always look up to you! I think you're the coolest girl I've ever met! And I'm so glad to have you as my girlfriend! So don't just die! Please, keep living! For my sake! Live as yourself and bear your sins!

After hearing that speech from him, Saeko hug Y/n back with same passion before letting him go.

Saeko: Thank you. I am okay now.

They both separate as Y/n step back from Saeko as she gets ready to slash and dice some undead bastards.

After the undead horde was dealt with, Y/n and Saeko were seen running to Saya's house on the hill.

Y/n: Saeko, over here!

Saeko: Wait a minute!

When Saeko caught up with him, she held his hand. Y/n just stared at Saeko Busujima, his girlfriend in all of her beauty.

Saeko: You will take responsibility, right?

Y/n: If that's what you want! Then I'm gladly be responsible for everything about you.

He put his hands around her waist and she wrapped her arms around his neck as they share a passionate kiss together.

Y/n: Let's go, they're all waiting for us.

Saeko: Lead the way, love~

Later....

Takagi Estate

Alice, Takashi, and Hirano were in the back of the Takagi Estate waiting for Y/n and Saeko return.

Alice: Why are we out back?

Hirano: If they want to slip in, they'll have to do it through the back.

Zero began barking getting their attention.

Alice: Zero?

Takashi: Speak of the devil, they made it!

Hirano: That's Y/n for you! Stubborn till the end.

They saw Y/n and Saeko walking towards the back gate. Alice couldn't help but smile and call out to Y/n from the balcony.

Alice: Onii-chan!

Saya saw Y/n through the windows and smiled in relief but was a bit envious on how close he was to Saeko.

Saya: Open it up already.

Worker: Yes, ma'am!

Y/n and Saeko walked in the estate as the gates opened up. Alice and Zero came rushing towards them with excitement.

Alice: Onii-chan! Onee-chan! You're back! Your both back!

Y/n: Its good to see you again, Alice.

Alice hugged them both as they both embraced her.

Y/n: *thought* I accepted her darkness and she accepted mine. Why wouldn't we? I mean, we needed each other to be that way. The darker we became together, the higher changes we both had to survive. This world became a cruel place, no place for sympathy or kindness. In order to survive this new world, we have to embrace our dark side in order to protect those close to us. But... I get feeling this is just the first of many steps in our survival.

As the three are embracing each other into a hug. Suddenly black veins appear in Y/n arm before returning back to normal. Without any of them noticing what just happened a second ago.
