Chapter Three
Waking up to the sound of two people screaming at each other wasn't exactly ideal. Especially so early in the morning.
"How the hell was I supposed to know he was a werewolf?" a feminine voice yelled out.
Wait. Where have I heard that voice before, it sounded so familiar but yet so foreign.
"What if he had been a Rogue?"
"But he's not a Rogue."
"Yeah, we know that now," A deep male's voice snapped back.
"Would you two please shut the hell up already?! God, I can't even hear myself think, over the two of you bickering back and forth," A woman yelled, causing the other two, to go quiet.
I opened my eyes, instantly blinded by the sunlight that was peaking through the open curtains. Groaning, I lifted my left hand, placing it over my eyes trying to shield them from the piercing light.
"He's waking up, go get the doctor," the male voice spoke, as the sound of a door opening and shutting could be heard.
I slowly moved my hand, letting my eyes try and adjust to the blinding light. The light disappeared, before a soft, slender hand wrapped around mine. Moving it so I could finally see my surroundings.
A red-headed woman stood next to me, she had curly hair that was tied up in a messy bun. Dark forest green eyes, that lay beneath thick eyelashes.
Who was this woman?
"How are you feeling?" She asked, letting go of my hand.
"I, um, I'm ok," I said, laying there in awkward silence before the door opened, revealing another man and a woman.
The woman's eyes met mine, her cheeks turning scarlet before quickly looking away.
"Mate," Micah weakly said.
My eyes widened as flashbacks of last night came rushing back to me. That's right, she was my mate, I couldn't believe I had forgotten something like that.
I was starting to feel a little panicked, I was surrounded by people I didn't know. I took a deep breath, my body relaxing from the intoxicating scent that filled the room.
The once stuffy chemical-smelling room was now filled with the smell of green apples and cinnamon. The smell reminded me of when I was younger and my grandma would bake apple pies.
My cheeks heated when I realized that delicious scent was coming from my beautiful mate.
"My name is Andrew, I'm the doctor here. Could you tell us your name?."
"My name's Casey."
Andrew walked over to the foot of the bed, he reached down, picking up a clipboard. He grabbed a pen, as he started to write something down.
"Where am I?" I asked.
"You're in the Red Lake's territory. Katie-" he pointed towards my mate. "Found you last night and brought you back with her when you passed out."
I shot up into a sitting position, but I instantly regretted my decision after the room began to spin.
"Hey take it easy. Your body is severely exhausted, including your wolf," Andrew said, trying to get me to lay back down.
"No, I can't take it easy. You don't understand, my pack needs help, please you have to do something," I said, trying to push him off of me.
"What do you mean your pack is in trouble?"
I looked over to see a man standing to my left. He was taller than me by a few inches, had short swept-back brown hair. No doubt an Alpha, you could just tell by the dominant aura that surrounded him.
"Please you have to help me, my name is Casey Brenton, I'm the Beta to the Black Crest pack. Our pack was attached by a group of Rogue's that almost outnumbered our pack. My Alpha Baron Truse sent me to go find a pack that would help us. It took me two days just to accidentally stumble across your pack, please you can't let any more of our pack members die," I pleaded with him.
He stood there as the room fell into an uncomfortable silence, staring at me, probably trying to process everything I had just told him.
"Normally I would help you, but I just can't risk it. I'm sorry."
I felt like my heart had stopped beating at those words.
"Honey," the redhead said, staring at him in disapproval.
"Destiny I just can't. A lot of our Enforcers have been killed because of Rogue attacks. I just can't send them into something like that, especially if the number of Rogue's is as many as he said they were. I'm not going to risk losing any more of our men."
"But Trenton, he came all this way just to ask for help," Destiny said.
"No it's fine," I said, causing her to look at me.
"Any Alpha who cares for his pack would do the same thing he did." Sighing, I looked over at Trenton.
"Where's the closest pack from here?" His eyes widened as he stared at me in disbelief.
"You can't be serious, you wouldn't even make it out of the pack's hospital before collapsing. There's no way you could make it to another pack, especially your wolf, I don't think you could even shift right now."
"I don't have a choice. I can't even tell if any of them are alive because I'm out of my pack's border, so I can't use our mind link," I stated.
Trenton sighed before walking over to the door.
"Give me a minute, make sure he doesn't leave." And with that, he opened the door, leaving us in silence.
"Where's dad going?" Katie asked, who I'm guessing to be her mom and Luna to the pack.
"Hell if I know," she muttered under her breath, before turning her attention towards me.
"Do you need anything? You must be starving."
"N-No I'm fine." As if on cue my stomach started to growl, causing everyone's eyes to land on me.
I could feel heat rush to my cheeks, as Destiny laughed.
"I'll go get you something to eat." She patted my hand before walking over to the door and leaving.
That left the doctor and my mate in here with me.
"I'm going to make my rounds but I'll be back in a few with some clothes for you." He exited the room, leaving just Katie and myself.
Katie stood there, fidgeting with the zipper of her hoodie.
"You don't have to stay if you don't want to." She looked up at me, before slightly nodding her head.
Honestly, I'd love nothing more for her to stay here with me, so I could get to know her. But if her leaving made her more comfortable then I'd be ok with that.
"I don't mind staying," she said, causing me to look at her in shock. "I-I mean only i-if you're ok with me keeping you company."
"I d-don't mind."
Katie smiled before moving over to one of the chairs that sat beside my bed.
I laid in bed as we picked up a conversation. I had just met her, but I was already growing so attached to her. I had also picked up on some of her habits.
Like how she would tuck her hair behind her ear when she was feeling shy. Or how when she talked about things she loved, she'd get this little twinkle in her eyes.
At some point in our conversation, I started to fall asleep, right before I fell asleep, I heard Katie say.
"Why do I feel such a pull to you?"
