Chapter five

They were now currently in New York looking for Finn as he had scattered after Esther's attempt to kill them all. It was Astrid who spotted him first.

"There he is," Astrid pointed to a tall brunette in front of them. Klaus looked a little too happy.

"Hello Finn," said Klaus cheerfully, walking up to his brother with Astrid.

"Hello Niklaus, Astrid," Finn didn't even look at them. "I have nothing to say to you."

"Well it's lucky that we're not here to chat," said Astrid. "I will ask you once though. Where is your wretched mother?"

"Don't you dare talk about my mother like that," said Finn in a dangerous tone of voice.

Klaus gave him a deadly glare. "Fine. Then don't you dare talk to my wife like that either. Where's mother?" he asked again.

Finn sighed, "gone to find another way to end our lives. And when she does, I will sacrifice myself all over again."

"Creep," Astrid muttered to herself, shaking her head.

"How fortunate that I found you then," exclaimed Klaus. "I require your assistance."

"I have no wish to help you," Finn told them with an evil smile on his face, "only to see you dead."

"Well that's the thing isn't it?" said Astrid in a confused voice. "If we die, you die too. Meaning you won't see us dead."

"So wish unfulfilled I'm afraid," Klaus shrugged innocently.

"Oh, go bother someone else with your hollow charms you two," Finn complained quite loudly.

"Why? When we can bother our big brother?" yelled Astrid.

"We need you to accompany us back to Mystic Falls," Klaus informed him. "We have a witch that can unlink us from Esther's spell."

Finn stopped walking, "I have no wish to be unlinked."

Astrid threw her arms up in fake surprise and Klaus said, "Again with the wishes!"

"Let us rephrase that," Astrid placed her hands on Finn's shoulders. "You will come back with us or Klaus will have to put you back in that coffin in which you rotted in for nine hundred years."

Finn smirked, "what happens to one happens to all. You may not feel the effects of the dagger Niklaus, but you'd loose your precious Astrid."

"Wouldn't be the first time," said Klaus, neither of them had a smile on their faces. After that he sped into an alley way, the exact one Rebekah was in.

"...At least he's not trying to make us extinct!" The couple heard Rebekah say as they walked towards Finn and Rebekah.

Finn turned to Klaus. "What are you going to do? Kill me?"

"Oh yeah, that's right. You've got a death wish," Klaus remembered. "Fine. Pathetic, but fine."

"The thing is," Astrid interjected. "We're not letting you take the rest of us down with you." Klaus slammed Finn against both walls, kicking him out.

"Back to Mystic Falls? Or a drink first?"

They did decided to stay and have one drink but then they had to hurry home. It wasn't long before they got back to the Mikaelson Manor and they literally threw Finn inside.

"Gather your witch. Let's get his blood and get on with it," ordered Rebekah.

Finn shook his head, "you can't force me to help you," he told them pathetically.

"I most likely could..." Klaus began.

"...but why force when we can persuade?" finished Astrid as Sage came walking down the stairs.

"Hello Finn," said Sage softly. Finn stood up quickly, ran to her and hugged her.

"What do you know? True love prevails," sighed Astrid, turning to the other two.

"Clearly not for everyone," Rebekah mumbled, but loud enough for everyone to hear.

"Hey!" Both Astrid and Klaus said in unison before Rebekah raised her eyebrows and smiled.

"I have something to do. What do you need from me for this spell?" Rebekah asked, ignoring the other two.

"Just your blood and your blessing. Where are you going?" Klaus asked as he put his phone away.

Rebekah smiled. "I have some unfinished business with Damon Salvatore. Ask Sage what he did to me, then you'll understand why retribution is in order." She walked out after that leaving both couples alone.

"Let's leave them alone for a bit," said Astrid as she pulled Klaus to the living room to give Sage and Finn some space.

He just looked at her. "Why?" Klaus whined like a five year old.

"If that was us, wouldn't you like to be left alone?" ask Astrid and he huffed and walked off. Astrid smiled at the two before following him. Both sat in silence for a few minutes before Astrid spoke up.

"Do you ever miss being human?' Astrid asked, completely out of the blue.

"No. Why?"

She sat up. "I just think things would've been so much simpler. We never would have broken up and probably would've had a family. Your mother and father would have died of natural causes and be long gone by now. And everyone else would have gotten to live their lives."

Klaus didn't say anything. He just thinking the same thing and she was right. It would have been so much simpler.

"Come on, Bonnie. It's not that hard!" Astrid complained as the witch stood there and did nothing.

"Tick tock. I should hear chanting by now," said Klaus as he walked into the room.

"I'm still studying the unlinking spell," replied Bonnie, not looking either of the originals in the eyes. "It's not that easy. Especially under duress."

"You've been warned. If you're looking for a way to send help...I will kill anyone who comes to your rescue," warned Klaus, but Bonnie interrupted him.

Bonnie stood up abruptly. "This is the spell, I just don't know if I'm strong enough!"

Astrid scoffed in disbelief, "aren't you supposed to be a Bennet witch? One of the most powerful bloodline of witches? Have a little more faith in yourself Bonnie. I'm starting to think that you aren't even trying."

To get Bonnie on their side, Klaus phoned Kol and he showed them a video of Jeremy playing fetch with his new puppy and Bonnie finally caved.

Both originals turned to her. "So, Bonnie, how about that spell?"

A few hours later, Bonnie heard a scream from the ballroom and began to panic. "What was that?" she asked.

"Don't let it bother you," said Astrid, waving her hands. "Rebekah's just having a little fun."

"Well it does bother me. You and Klaus bother me," said Bonnie very boldly.

"Me? What did I do?" Astrid asked, she hadn't actually done anything to Bonnie before.

"Nothing. That's the point. You let Klaus do whatever he wants, you let him use people get what you want. It's not right," Bonnie replied with fury in her eyes. "You practically let him walk all over you!"

Astrid rolled her eyes. "You're being emotional Bonnie. And don't tell me how to handle my husband, I've done it for a thousand years. I understand that things have been rough for you, with your mum leaving again. It's very sad. I can find her for you, if you unlink me and my siblings. Isn't it obvious that me and Klaus are just going to keep hurting everyone you love until you do the spell? I have my siblings blood. We have the grimoire."

Astrid picked up a box filled with five bottles of blood in, she pointed to each of them. "Elijah, Rebekah, Kol, Klaus and Finn." Astrid then proceeded to bite her wrist so that it was bleeding. "Where do you want us?"

Bonnie picked up a glass and Astrid squeezed in some blood before handing over the box of her siblings blood. Bonnie began the spell and all the candles in the room were up in flames. Bonnie poured all the blood in one spot and as the spell went on, they separated into six different parts, for the six originals.

"It's done," Bonnie told Astrid as Klaus walked in.

Astrid nodded her head and Klaus showed Bonnie out. She began thinking of what Bonnie said before, sure, she let Klaus do what was necessary. But she didn't let him walk all over her, did she?

"I can't believe Finn's dead," said Astrid in disbelief as she stood by the fireplace.

"Good riddance," Klaus sighed as he cleaned up the table where Bonnie had done the spell. "He was an embarrassment, Astrid."

Astrid turned to him. "He was still your brother, mind your tongue."

"Fine. Then let's say a prayer for Finn who slept in a box longer than he lived as a man," Klaus retaliated, clearly not interested in the conversation. "He was a lovesick fool. He's better off in death."

"Is that how you would speak of me if I died?" Astrid asked him and he stopped what he was doing.

"Well I mean, Rebekah let the Salvatore's loose with the two stakes that can kill us. So I guess we'll find out soon," He smirked.

"You are unbelievable, Niklaus Mikaelson," Astrid scoffed. "You know, Rebekah was right. The Salvatore's may fight like dogs but in the end they would die for each other. A long time ago, that would've been us. But you decided to destroy our entire family, whereas they actually know what the word family means."

"I wanted a family. They just didn't want me," Klaus replied.

"I did."

Klaus gulped. This conversation was getting harder by the minute. "Yes, but you left. Just like the others."

"Are you leaving? Now that we're unlinked?"

"Soon as I get the stakes, then I'm gone. And you're free to come with me," Klaus offered as he raised his eyebrows.

"I'll think about it," she told him. Before she knew what she was doing, Astrid kissed him on the cheek and walked out with a smile on her face.
