Chapter 1: HE'S HERE?!

~9-10 years Later~

I sat impatiently in my seat waiting until Minerva would bring in the new set of first years. I had lost count of how old Harry was now and I knew he would arrive soon but wasn't sure when. I thought back to the gift I had asked Hagrid to give him the day before he turned eleven.

~A Few months before~

Harry's Point of View

I sat in the backseat of the car with Dudley beside me. Uncle Vernon was outside the car looking around again like he had been the last few stops. Aunt Petunia turned around a faded purple bag in her hands.

"Harry." She said taking both me and Dudley by surprise, she rarely spoke more to me than she had to. She passed the bag to me much to my surprise. "Mum isn't that for me?! He never gets anything!" He said as if she had made a mistake and it was really for him.

She shook her head and turned back around looking pale and ill. I looked through the back to find a pieces of light blue paper until I found a little box. I reached into the bag to pull it out until I noticed an envelope in it.

I quickly opened it to find neat spiraling handwriting across the paper.

"Dear Harry,

I'm so sorry It happened this way. I know you probably don't remember me but I remember you. You were so small when it all happened. Your cries still haunt me when I sleep.

Your Mum and Dad love you Harry. I love you, so so much. I know the gift is baby-ish but I bought it the night they died and you were one so it fit you at the time.

I'll see you soon. I know I will I can feel it. Keep your chin up and the rain will fade away. I promise. Remember the promise I made you that night Harry. Please. At least try to.

I love you,

B.K.P."

I stared at it in confusion. A promise? Someone who knew my Mum and Dad? Wait the gift! I quickly pulled out the little box and opened it. a tiny piece of paper fluttered out and I caught it before it fell.

For my nephew,

Love you Harry! <3

Inside was a little trio of stuffed dragons that all fit in my palm. I looked from the little note to the letter. "For my nephew"? Petunia never bought me gifts. and the letter sounded like they havn't seen me in years. They probably haven't!

~Back to the present~

Bailey/Beth's Point of View

Finally Minerva led them inside and they massed before the staff tables anxiously. One boy ,well two, in particular stood out to me. one had red hair and freckles who was shooting a glare at two students at the Gryffindor table. The other had messy black hair with glasses and a faint mark under his hair on his forehead.

The red-head I could place as a Weasley, most likely he was glaring at Fred and George his two older brothers and Ashton Stephens one of their best friends. The other boy I couldn't place in my mind's eye. He seemed familiar but unfamiliar all the same. Trelawney kept looking at me and it was creepy to say the least.

I leaned back and half listened as names were called and students were sorted. "Weasley, Ron!" I was right! I grinned to myself and watched as he sat down. The sorting hat made a comment which caused most to laugh in response, me included.

"GRYFFINDOR!" I clapped, Ron was Bill's younger brother and Bill had done exceptional in my class during his years at Hogwarts. HE had taken on the career I suggested to him all those years ago and I was right to say he was well suited for the job.

The next name wouldn't have bothered me hadn't it finally clicked a puzzle together in my head, "Potter, Harry!" It took every fiber of my being to not stand up and run to him. My nephew was about to be sorted right in front of me!

He walked up and sat on the stool as the hat sat on his head it would mutter to him about the houses but yelled out loud, "Not Slytherin? Well then it better be GRYFFINDOR!"

I clapped loudly to the point my hands hurt but so did most other people. He was ginning from ear to ear as the hat was removed and he ran to the table. Ron and the others greeted him warmly and I couldn't help a small smile.

I glanced over to see a sour looking Snape clapping half-heartedly beside me. "Come now Severus, don't act like a grump today!" I teased earning myself a half-amused glare from him in return.

I turned to see that a small crowd of about 15 or so students remained. I leaned back a bit and listened with half an ear as they were sorted as well. Once they were all sorted into their respective houses Albus stood behind his podium.

"I have a few words I''d like to say and they are these:  Nitwit, Blubber, Oddment, Tweak!" and he sat down. Some students clapped awkwardly while others just shared highly confused glances.

However all confusion was forgotten once the food appeared, and students and staff alike, began to fill their plates. Thoughts crowded the limited room in my head as I ate my food. My nephew was talking to Percy, another one of Bill's younger brothers, with an expression of serious confusion. Dumbledore stood up once more.

I couldn't help but tune him out, I knew the only big thing was the third floor corridor being blocked off. Students would wonder about it but they didn't need to worry about what was behind the door.

All I was worried about was what I planned to say to Albus once all the students left the Great Hall. Dumbledore told the students to leave for the night and they immediately obeyed as they followed the prefects to their respective common rooms.

I had to wait until the other staff left before I could confront Albus since only he and Mcgonagall knew my secret. "Albus!" I hissed as I stepped closer to him, he only watched me with a look that said he didn't fear me in the slightest.

"My nephew is here and you never thought to tell me that HE'S HERE?! I'm his aunt! I deserve to know things like this! Your lucky I care about his safety or you would never see me in this castle again. I'll keep my eye on him to ensure he is safe for as long as a bone lays in my body." I said as I clutched my wand in my robe pocket.

Albus nodded at me seriously. I sighed to myself before making my way to the giant oak doors. Once I walke dout and onto the enchanted staircases I couldn't help but to notice that Neville, Harry, Ron and Hermione were still talking to one another about something.

"Shouldn't you lot be in bed by now?" I asked as I walked closer to them. They froze and turned to me nervously. "Mr. Weasley I certainly hope you live up to your borther's name in my class. He was quite the student and I'm sure you will be too." I said with a slight smile.

He gulped with a fearful expression. I let out a little laugh which eanred me looks from all of them. "I'm not serious Ron. The rest of your brothers could never reach his level so I'm not putting any weight on your shoulders." I stated honestly. "Now get to bed before Argus comes around with Mrs. Norris." I said once the stairs stopped.

They smiled at me before hurrying off to their dorms. I made my way to my own sleeping quarters since I was exhausted after having yelled at Dumbledore for the second time in 10 years. I was a usually passive person but it seems that James' death rattled me causing a change in my core.

Once I went inside my room I fell asleep almost instantly.

I was rushing around my classroom making sure I had all my necessary equipment for the lessons that day. "Ok do I have third years or first yers first? Oh no where did I put the glass?!" I mttered to myself as I banged my head on the chalk board I had rolled out. "Ow! Mother of-" "Um Professor?" A voice cut me off from my swear and I turned quickly to spot Hermione sitting at a desk.

"Ah! Ms. Granger! How lovely to see you dear. Um how long have you?" I asked curiously. She smiled thoughtfully reminding me an awful lot of myself at her age. "About the past 5 or so minutes." She said finally.

I sighed. "Sorry its such a mess. I slept in just a tad bit. So I'm rushing about trying to make sure I'm ready." I explained after running a hand through my long brown hair.

She nodded, "Why don't I help since I'm about 20 minutes early?" I grinned in response. "That would be amazing! But no wands. I like to to do things the muggle way some." I said at her confused expression.

She shrugged and helped me distribute inkwells to desks and organize my desk. Once we finished we had a little over 5 minutes until the others would arrive. "5 points to Gryffindor." I said with a smile as she sat down once more.

I hid behind my chalkboard until I heard no more footsteps and a few whispers. I walked out from behind the board with a smile on my face. "Welcome first years to Leons and Countercurses. Im Professor-"

"Do we need this class?" A voice called out in annoyance. Multiple students gasped in shock as everyone turned to see a bleach blonde kid glaring at me. "*grits teeth* Yes, may I know your name? I don't appreciate being-"

"I don't see much point to it. My father even thought it should be removed." He said kicking his feet up on the desk his hands behind his head. I was beginning to lose my patience. "I'm to assume you mean Lucious Malfoy? He's the only one to demand the removal of my class. So for the fact you disrupted my class twice. 10 ponts from Slytherin."

I rarely took away points but he had rubbed me the wrong way with his comments. "Lets begin introductions. I'm Professor Nomus. I was originally a Gryffindor and I have a pet named Jin." I said with a small smile. "Alright next? Like what I just did."

So began my usual tradition of introductions the first 15 minutes of class. Once I had heard from every student I began my lesson. "So since this is the least complex spell can anyone tell me the effects of the Nigton curse?" I asked and was a bit to see the hand of Hermione fly up. I pointed to her and she gave me a definition.

"The Nigton Curse, named after the creator Lucas Nigton, is a curse that makes the victim act normally but should they come in contact with any sort of metal or metalloid object they will be immobilized until the countercurse is used upon them."

I blinked a bit startled. "Looks like somebody studied for my class. Well since you mentioned the countercurse can anyone tell me what the countercurse is?"

Nobody raised their hand not even Hermione, "Well the countercurse is actually quite simple and easy to remember. Kintano! Repeat it please but no wands! Stating the spell with no victim nearby results in chaotic results." I said pacing in front of the board.

The rest of the day continued with the twins trying, unsuccesfully, to prank me. Once Harry's class arrived it took all my willpower not to ask him about the past 10 years of his life. He was sitting beside Ron both looking sheepish as if they had done something that embarresed them.

I did my usual start but couldn't help but hear Ron mutter to Harry, "Did you notice how she looked to you? Like she knew something about you!" He said after glancing at me as I paced through the columns.

"Impossible. But it makes me wonder about........" he trailed off as I got closer. "Boys I sure hope that you understand the notes I've given you. I'm going to assume you read the text from your books?"

They both gulped before returning to their open books. I walked up to my board and wiped it clean and started to write with my chalk. "Tonight you must write a 10 inch essay over the Nigton curse. To ensure you understand the concept I also want you to explain why it's never used as well. Dismissed students." I said once I turned around.

The sound of students walking out of my room was one of the last things I heard before I crumpled forward clutching my head. I could hear muffled voices panicking around me but they were as if from several feet away. I could think of nothing but all my worse nightmares come to life.

Harry's Point of View

One moment she was standing there smiling at us the next she was laying on the ground holding her head. "Someone get Dumbledore! Get Madame Pomfrey!" Voices yelled around us as some ran out of the room and others clustered around Professor Nomus.

I shared a look of terror with Ron before rushing towards Professor Nomus. "She's still breathing! Try to sit her up or something!" Somebody said, a moment later Dumbledore rushed in with Madame Pomfre close behind him.

We all cleared a path for them, all of us scared for the nice professor. "Go to your common rooms. Other students will be alerted as well. Meals will continue as usual." The headmaster said making us all nod and hurry out of the classroom.

We followed Dean and Neville who had been in class with us to the coomon room. "What was that all about? She was just fine before! Harry? You ok?" Ron asked shaking me out of my thoughts.

"Huh? Yeah I'm fine thanks Ron." I said still only half paying attention. It was so sudden that it had rattled me. But something before she collapsed sparked a memory within my head. I sat on the couch by the fire place trying to figure out the brief flashing images in my head.

~Flashback to 10 years before~

A woman stared at me sadly with her forehead against mine. A tall man stood behind us looking close to tears. "I'm sorry Harry. But.................. *voice breaking* You have to go with Hagrid. I'll miss you. Remember me Harry. Please."

She handed me to the tall man but I didn't wanna leave her so I started to fuss hoping she would take me back. She said something to the tall man before turning around. We started to walk down stairs making me cry.

~Flashback over~

Everything clicked. The gift and note and letter. The woman who's face flashed in my head. She was my relative, my aunt. But when would I see her? She said we would meet soon, but when was soon? Would Professor Nomus be ok? It's all I can do but hope everything would turn out right.
