Artemis paused, eyes widening as he processed what he had just said. He sank back into the booth, hands over his mouth.

Grim was suddenly thrown into the past, and everything clicked. That was why Artemis had lived with him as long as Grim could remember. In Lupus's mind, Artemis was just a demigod- he meant nothing. Half-divine children were a dime-a-dozen and it was rare for them to be even claimed by a god.

A sick feeling settled in Grim's stomach as memories cropped up in his mind. Artemis looked terrifed anytime he even mentioned his father. He had never connected the dots. He had never put that much thought into his brother's background.

Grim's expression softened, and he reached out to touch Artemis's arm. "Hey, Moony, I-"

Artemis shook him away, a sheen of tears catching the dim, florescent light. "Grimslay, I'm tired. I'm tired of running away. I'm tired of you running away from this."

"I'm not running away!" Grim snapped, balling his fists.

Artemis's shoulders fell as his mouth twisted, exasperation sagging his frame. He threw his hands in the air, glaring at Grim. "Then what do you call all of this?! We ran away from your father when he called for you. You drew a line in the sand, Grimslay." Artemis bit his lip, tears snaking down his cheeks, "And I don't want to be on your side of the line."
Grim felt himself tremble. He couldn't find any words.

"I've been your right hand man for centuries, Grimslay. I love you so much, I always have, but-but-" Artemis swallowed, taking a shuddering breath, "It feels like you don't even care about how I feel."

He planted his hands firmly on the table, wide eyes cutting through Grim's defensive posture. "Grim, you may have unleashed Eris, but you're not the only one being affected. This crime is over both of our heads. You're dragging you and me down, and I can't stand it anymore. I feel like I'm drowning."

"What are you trying to say?" Grim said cautiously, drawing his lip in a sneer.

"Goodbye, Grimslay," Artemis whispered, pushing himself to his feet and stomping out of the diner.
