Chapter 19: Payback

As Bakugou leaves towards Nezu's office, Kirishima's eyes narrow as he lowers his chin and his jaw clenches. He turns and heads with swift, thundering steps towards the cafeteria. He didn't want Bakugou involved, but the volatile boy has a meeting, meaning that Kirishima has time. He had promised danger to whoever confronted Bakugou about his panic attack, and he doesn't make empty promises.

Unfortunately for another blonde in the school, the message apparently hadn't seeped in enough.

Students leap out of the way in surprise as Kirishima stomps past with a dangerous glare. The anger that he hadn't allowed himself to show ever since Bakugou got back to school after the rumors spread finally escaping in a terrifying aura that makes it seem as if there is a dark, stormy cloud with ominously crackling lightning around him. Kirishima snarls as he remembers how Bakugou had behaved when Monoma confronted him. He seemed so...lost...so scared.

Kirishima's heart rate races as he shoves past the students entering the cafeteria, eliciting shocked and upset gasps and exclamations from the students, but Kirishima ignores them all, continuing forward in his trek.

Conversations around the cafeteria taper off as more eyes are drawn towards Kirishima, who does not slow his pace one bit as most of the room quiets, making his way through the sea of people like a harpoon. His eyes narrow further and he bares his sharp teeth as he catches sight of Monoma Neito talking to Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu.

Clenching his fists at his sides, Kirishima quickens his pace. As he reaches about ten feet from the blonde boy, whose face is slightly visible as he turns towards Kirishima, having heard his footsteps. Kirishima pulls back an arm and his clenched fist, hardening the appendage, and launches forward, slamming his knuckles full force into the cheek of the unsuspecting boy who is flung across the room and into a table where its occupants, who had been eating their lunch peaceably, shoot up and back away from the new mess and damages wood, a platter of curry toppling over and onto Monoma's head, the meal sliding down his face and chest before plopping onto the ground in a gross puddle.

Kirishima's chest heaves as he stomps towards Monoma, whose eyes widen in surprise, pain, and confusion. The blonde lifts his hands in front of him as Kirishima lifts his other arms. "Wait! Wait, wait, wait, hold on! What the hell are you doing?" Monoma shrieks frantically.

Kirishima feels his upper lip twitch. Does the guy in front of him really have no idea? Does he not have any idea what he did to Bakugou? What he made him think about? He continues toward the boy, but Kirishima is blocked by Tetsutetsu, who leaps in between them with his hands up. "Wait a second, Kiri-bro—" the metal version of Kirishima begins, only to be shoved to the side roughly and forced to stumble away as Kirishima angrily pushes him out of the way and leans down to Monoma. He slaps the blonde's hands away and grabs the front of his shirt, pulling him upwards.

The periwinkle eyes of Monoma's are wide as they look into shockingly rage-filled red eyes that seem to coruscate with bloodlust. His mouth snaps shut from where he was about to start yelling at the other student. "You know, Monoma," Kirishima begins in a low growl, "I didn't think I would really have to do this, but how dare you?" he spats and bodily shakes the other boy whose hands come up to grab at the ones roughly pushing his body back and forth, a panicked expression on his face. Tetsutetsu, who had been about to interfere again, freezes as his own eyes widen in surprise and question. How dare Monoma do what? he ponders, but his thoughts are interrupted as Kirishima vehemently continues, and Tetsutetsu and many of the other spectators receive their answer. "I told everybody.... No, I warned everybody not to fucking say anything to Bakugou, but what did you do?" he questions angrily, leaning closer to Monoma's face. "You held it over his fucking head like a funny, taunting toy. You have no idea what happened to him, so you have no right to speak about it. If you went through half what he has gone through throughout his life, you would have quit trying to become a hero, so fuck off with your petty bullying. I don't like to be the bad guy, but I will protect my friends. You had better not try testing that again."

Monoma's lip wobbles and his eyes widen like he is about to cry as Kirishima spats in his face. "It—it's not my fault, though! ****** told me about it!"

"AND YOU ACTED ON IT!" Kirishima screams, mouth going wide as his sharp teeth clash together. "THE FUCKING PERVERT MAY HAVE CAUSED IT, BUT THIS IS ON YOU!"

Monoma feels anger stir in him and slightly overcome his fear. "Well then if a perv caused it what happened? How's that related to PTSD? Was Bakugou fucking raped or some shit?" Monoma shrieks condescendingly as his mind scoffs at such a ridiculous idea. However, the taken aback expression and sadness that covers Kirishima's face tells him otherwise and Monoma feels himself go cold, the color leaving his face as he pales and his body goes numb. "No way..." he mumbles, not in disbelief but in a wish to be disbelieving.

Kirishima's lower lip pulls up and he pushes Monoma back into the pool of curry on the ground. "That is none of your business," Kirishima growls. The whole room holds its breath as Kirishima scowls at the ground, realizing what he has done. What he just gave away. "FUCK!" he shrieks as he turns and punches a table as hard as he can, shattering it. He doesn't know what to do. What has he done. First he wasn't able to help Bakugou, and now he just outed his biggest secret to the whole school!

"Kirishima," a neutral voice calls as the cafeteria doors open, and everyone's eyes are drawn to the red-eyed blonde who stands there. He freezes under their gazes and feels his heart rate pick up. As his eyes glance over the room he finally sees Kirishima. He looks at the boy who stands over Monoma and then down to the other blonde, whose eyes stare up in pure disbelief and guilt at Bakugou.

A sinking feeling finds its place in Bakugou's stomach. No way. No way. There's no way. His gaze goes back up and meets Kirishima's eyes: red and filled with so many emotions. Bakugou cannot even wish to understand all of them, but guilt and self-hate are obvious above them all. "You didn't," Bakugou says in disbelief, his voice easily heard in the large but utterly silent room.

Kirishima tears up and slowly sinks to the floor, eyes on the ground. "I'm sorry.... I'm so, so sorry. I didn't mean to..."

Bakugou walks slowly over to Kirishima, but does not crouch next to the red haired boy who curls in on himself. "Do they know?" he asks in a whisper. Kirishima nods and Bakugou's jaw strains as his teeth grind together. This feeling of betrayal is far worse than what he feels towards the girls, even Ashido. His head tilts downward, his hair blocking the view of his face. "Fuck you," he murmurs as he slowly turns and walks out of the room again while Kirishima stays in place, crying silently as his tears drop onto the cafeteria floor.
