Chapter 2 Meeting The Radio Demon

New cover art is up.

***Hope's POV***

It's been a week since I arrived in hell and the hotel. In that time, I have met the other two demons that live here as well. There's Vaggie. She's cool. A bit overprotective of Charlie and the hotel, but her heart is in the right place. This is hell after trusting other demon probably isn't an easy thing.

Then there is Angel Dust. He's quite the character. I don't really think he takes this place seriously and is just using it for a place to stay. But I can't say I know him that well so maybe I am wrong.

Also, during this week, I have also discovered that I have a talent for magic and manifesting objects. I have been reading whatever spell books I could find in the library. Extermination happened recently as well.

Very recent as a matter of fact. Since I haven't been here that long Charlie and Vaggie helped me through it. I am very grateful for that. As far as I know an angel's blade is one of only a few ways to kill a sinner demon. I would rather not meet the sharp end of one of those.

Today Charlie and Vaggie went to the news station to promote the hotel and send the message of what it is for around. At first, they wanted me to go too, but I told them my progress so far would make much of an impact. I told them that since Angel Dust has more of a reputation then me maybe they should mention that. They thought about it for a minute before deciding I was right.

I wonder how it is going. I hope she was able to get her message across. Charlie works so hard for this place. Angel didn't leave with Vaggie and Charlie, but he did go somewhere at some point. So now it is just me in the hotel.

I go into the kitchen to see what I have to work with for dinner. As I open the fridge, I realize just how low on food we are. I will have to go to grocery shopping tomorrow. I can make something for tonight and breakfast tomorrow.

Not long after I hear the front door open. I walk out to greet them. They all look down and disappointed. Well except Angel.

"I'm guessing the interview didn't go well." I say cautiously.

"Ugh!" Was all Vaggie said as she threw herself on the couch.

Charlie sat on the desk looking very down. Yea definitely didn't go well. Angel looks through a mini fridge in the lobby that had some popsicles in it. He shrugs as he finds nothing else in it and starts eating one.

"Eh, it's probably a good idea to get some actual food in this place. Y'know, to feed all the wayward souls you got in here! Ahahaha! Ahaha...! eh... ah.." He says while trying to comfort Charlie.

It doesn't work so he walks away. I decide to give it a shot. I walk up to her, and she glances at me.

"I'm sorry your interview didn't go well. I know how much you wanted to make a good impression. But you know one bad day doesn't have to ruin or even dampen your efforts. I know if you keep trying you will be able to help many demons reach redemption. I believe in you." I say in a comforting tone.

She looks up at me and gives a small smile.

"Thanks Hope. I'm going to go make a phone call. Be right back." She says as she walks out.

"So, what did happen?" I ask to no one in particular.

"This asshole made us look like a fucking joke!" Vaggie said with clear anger and annoyance in her voice.

I was about to say something when I hear Charlie come back in. I go to say something and am interrupted by a knock on the front door. I look to see Charlie open the door then shut it. She open and shuts it again. Charlie peeks into the lobby.

"Hey, Vaggie?" She asks.

"Whaaaat?" Vaggie asks still annoyed.

"The Radio Demon is at the door!" Charlie says.

The what? Vaggie sits up.

"What?" She asks in a worried tone.

"Who?" Both me and Angel ask at the same time.

I have never heard of the radio demon before, but I have only been here a week. Angel has been here much long than me. I would think he would have heard of him before.

"What should I do?!" She asks.

"Uh, well, don't let him in!" Vaggie replies.

Charlie looks at the door. She's gonna let him in. Sure, enough she opens the door. They chat for a second before he lets himself in. They talk for a few second before Vaggie comes running up with her spear. She points it at him. And says something in Spanish before threatening him in English. He simply moves it away.

He says something before reality distorts for a moment. He mentions that he wants to help and after that I kind of stop paying attention to what they are saying and start tuning into my senses seeing what kind of feels I get from him.

I sense that he is powerful. Very much so. There's something else there though. I don't really know what it is. I also feel like if he was wanting to hurt anyone he would have. He doesn't seem like the type to waste time and effort on something like this for no reason.

After a while of them talking I decide to ask Vaggie about him since she knows more about him than me or Angel. Angel beats me to asking the question.

"Uh, so... uh, what's the deal with Smiles over there?" He asks.

"Wait, you've never heard of him before? You've been here longer than me! I understand Hope not knowing. She only been here a week." She says surprised Angel doesn't know.

He simply shrugs.

"The Radio Demon. One of the most powerful beings Hell has ever seen?" She asks.

Angel says he isn't big on politics. Then Vaggie begins to tell a story of him. Honestly it just makes him sound all bad. I have a hard time believing that. After her story Angel doesn't really take it seriously either and Vaggie goes over to talk to Charlie.

When I think about it, his voice reminds me of this old radio I had. The old radio belonged to my grandpa for a long time before he passed it down to my father. He left it to me when he passed. I miss that old radio. The static that came from it was actually comforting to me. Everyone else hated the static though.

I walk up to him as he is looking at a portrait. With an excuse me he turns to look at me.

"Are you from the 1920's?" I ask out of curiosity.

"Why yes, I am darling. Why do you ask? Are you from that time period as well?" He asks me.

"Oh no. I only got here recently. Your voice just reminded me of an old radio I had. It was from the 1920's as well. You know everyone is always thought the static of it was annoying, but I always thought it was comforting. Your voice sounds a lot like it, so I guess your voice is kind of comforting." I explain to him.

"Glad it could be to some one darling." He says with that ever-present smile.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Here I am rambling on without introducing myself. I'm sorry for being rude. I'm Hope. It's a pleasure to meet you." I say while hold out my hand.

"Alastor! Pleasure to be meeting you as well, darling." He says grabbing my hand.
