Chapter 2: Your Fault
The rain had soaked your Jacket. Making it easier for you to slip down the gutter in a matter of minutes.
You hopped down into the sewer of that was hidden under the street.
It was dark. Cold. And smelled like sewage.
Your nose crinkles up a bit at the sight of the smell and out of instinct you held your sleeve up to your nose to try to filter out the odor, but somehow it got back to you.
You look around. It was pitch dark. The only light were small grey strands from the outside that dimmly crawled their way into the hole in the curb. Only to stop at a few centimeters in not even hitting the ground.
You reach into your pocket. Hoping for your phone or a flashlight.
And to your luck you found a small keychain light with an inaccurate compass on the top of it.
You thank god for this and push down the slightly sticky button on the keychain.
It took a few tries to make the little light flicker to life.
When the little light turned on you flashed it into the dark abyss that laid before you , and it revealed to be a large tunnel.
You whistle loud enough to see how far down the tunnel was, it seemed to stop just after a few seconds at a concrete wall at the end of the long tunnel.
You gulp down a lump that weld up in your throat and took a deep breath.
You slowly put one foot in front of the other into the grey water puddles.
You didn't pay much to the ground, since you were already focused on what lied before you.
"The tunnel to Hell...." you say to yourself. Your eyes dart at every side of the hall as if something would come out and grab you.
Soon you got to the end. It wasn't so bad as you smiled a bit and gave a sigh of relief.
But when you turn around you heard a sound. A sound of a child.
Crying.
"Hello?" You run towards the sound
Hoping it was someone.
The crying got louder and louder as you ran down the sewer tunnels
The smells of the grey water and rotting corpse was getting stronger as you got closer.
You held the light tighter in your hand. When you were about to turn a corner.
The crying stops. But gradually got softer.
"Hello?" You softly say.
You see a child. Crouched down in a puddle of grey water. Wearing a yellow raincoat....
"Hey... It's okay...Don't cry..." You calmly say to them.
They turn around with the tears still weld up in their eyes.. You jumped back.
You were shocked. It was Georgie.
"Why did you take my boat?" He says
His face was dirty along with his coat with mud and blood.
"Georgie.... I didn't..."
"Yes. You did... Why did you take it?"
You felt tears roll down your face
"I...I don't know...." You voice cracks
As you started to cry, George just stood there blankly staring at you.
"I'm....Sorry...Georgie...." You hug the small boy crying. without a response he just says
"It's your fault."
You let go of the boy and look at his face... He repeats the phrase again
"It's all your fault you and Bill."
"No George." You push him away
As he repeats those words he gradually gets louder and more distorted as his body rots into a dead corpse.
Surrounded by many other ones.
They were all staring at you.
With their half eaten faces
You scream and run to the tunnel you traveled from and not without hearing an eerie laughter chasing after you as you ran.
You ran for your life and climbed up and out of the gutter.
Running home to your friend's house.
"It's all your fault."
