032 — crazy

season three —
episode seven

─────────────────

ASPEN FELT HER MIND spinning with different possibilities of where Jason could be since he took off angrily out of her apartment two days ago and hasn't been in contact with her since.

Aspen walks alongside the others in the middle of the town for their morning coffee run before the girls go to school.

Hanna updates them on Detective Wilden's visit this morning wanting her to come to the station so they can test her blood.

"That's why A wants Garrett out of jail, so I can take his place" Hanna mutters panicked.

"Okay, don't go there" Emily suggests trying to offer her friend some comfort during this difficult time.

Aspen follows behind them in her own little world biting her lower lip in anxiety and extreme worry for her boyfriend.

"It's already past there, Emily, he knows about the note, he caught me at church, and it's my blood type" Hanna states.

"So what? You didn't kill anybody" Aria explains looking at the other anxious blonde of the group.

"Wilden said that Ali's family's been slamming him, have either of you talked to Jason?" Hanna questions facing Spencer and Aspen who looks at the mention of the males name.

"I haven't, no" Aspen sighs sadly looking at Spencer now wondering the same thing Hanna previously asked.

"No, I can't even look him in the eye, but I'm gonna talk to him today" Spencer responds receiving a convinced nod in response from Aspen behind her.

"Han, don't worry, there's nothing they can do, until your mom gets back tomorrow" Emily utters.

"So what? I have 48 hours left of freedom?" Hanna wonders, "Maybe Spencer's mom can block the court order" Emily suggests looking at Spencer.

"You guys, what if it is my blood?" Hanna quizzes panicked, "How? Seriously, how could somebody take your blood and you wouldn't even know it?" Aria questions.

"Emily has a whole night that she doesn't remember" Hanna exclaims starting to walk off from the group, "Han, wait, you need to—" Spencer starts to explain.

"I can't talk about this anymore, I have to go to school" Hanna responds interrupting the Hastings girl and walking off leaving the friends outside of the Brew for their morning coffee catch up.

Aspen sighs while opening the Brew's door and holding it for the others.

"Maybe one of us should call her mom" Emily suggests lowly.

"I don't think her mom can have any more pull with Wilden, this isn't shoplifting" Spencer responds.

Aspen freezes hearing an all too familiar voice coming from the register behind her.

"Take it from me, you're always better off with a really good buy" the familiar voice says flirtatiously.

"Is it just me, or did that sound a lot like—" Emily wonders trailing off and turning around with the others.

"Alison" Aria, Emily and Spencer simultaneously say while Aspen smiles seeing the blonde gasping seeing her old friend in the cafe.

"Something wrong?" CeCe questions looking at the others, "Oh, no, sorry, wow, you just sound a lot like one of our friends" Aria explains seeing Aspen's brighter smile since seeing the blonde haired woman.

"Hope she's brilliant, what's her name?" CeCe asks, "Alison DiLaurentis" Aria responds seeing the look of shock cross over CeCe's face.

"You were friends of Ali's, me too, I'm Cece and hi babe, I've missed you!" CeCe exclaims bringing Aspen in for a tight embrace, "I missed you too, god, you look good!" Aspen voices with a smile.

"Spencer" Spencer greets introducing herself, "Melissa Hasting's little sister, Ali talked about you, she talked about all of you, a lot—Aspen and I use to always hang out together while waiting for Ali's arrival" CeCe beams excitedly.

"How do you know Ali and Aspen?" Emily quizzes, "Before I moved to LA, our families rented summer homes in Cape May, Ali, Spen and I went through an intense couple weeks together, I also dated her brother, Jason—before Aspen and him started seeing one another" CeCe explains seeing the look of shock and confusion on the three girls faces.

"She never mentioned me to you guys?" CeCe frowns, "No" Aria, Emily and Spencer simultaneously say shaking their heads.

"Well, it was intense for me, she was going through such a rough time, like a broken doll—remember babe?" CeCe questions facing Aspen who nods confirming what CeCe is saying is true about Ali's rough past.

"So why did you move back to Rosewood?" Spencer chuckles, "Listen, I hate to make tracks, but I'm already late, and my boss is high-strung and aggressively sober, come visit me at the new boutique, across the street—and you, Spen, text me" CeCe demands winking at Aspen who nods at her in response.

"Oh, and if you ever feel like doing, a little free shopping, I'll be happy to turn the other way" CeCe says lowly leaning closer to Aria who squints at her.

"I—I think you're thinking of Hanna, she's not here" Aria explains flatly.

"Oh" CeCe responds with a shrug before playfully winking at Aspen again while walking out of The Brew towards wherever she needs to go.

"Okay, that's not just me, right? I mean, that chick is freakishly like Ali" Aria utters.

"Or was Ali freakishly like her? I mean, one hip out, the head tilt" Spencer mumbles.

"Looking straight through you, like she knew all your secrets" Emily says adding onto the list.

"Ali's freakishly like her—don't worry, she comes across chaotic at first but she's actually super sweet" Aspen explains with a shrug ordering herself a drink for the day ahead of her.

Since she needs to join the girls at the high school so she can talk to her fashion design mentor about her dresses and the competition in the upcoming weeks.

─────────────────

AFTER TALKING TO HER fashion design partner about the competition in three weeks and agreeing about what dress she should put it.

Aspen joins Spencer outside the school while said girl types away on her laptop studying all things CeCe Drake.

"How did fashion class go?" Spencer questions looking up from her laptop.

"Good, good—I have the dress I wanna apply all sorted" Aspen confirms fiddling nervously looking around feeling another presence joining them on the bench.

"Toby, what are you doing here?" Spencer asks immediately shutting her laptop hiding away the contents inside of it.

"Hey Tobes" Aspen greets standing up to leave the couple some privacy feeling Spencer's hand latching onto hers and pleading for her to stay with one look.

Aspen huffs sitting back down and pulling out her iPhone seeing no text messages from Jason but one from CeCe wanting to catch up with her when she's not busy.

"I didn't feel like leaving another message, why are you avoiding me?" Toby questions.

"I'm not" Spencer responds grabbing her bag from behind the bench seat.

"I know there wasn't anyone hounding Hanna at that church dance, why did you lie?" Toby asks feeling hurt, "I was with Jason" Spencer states.

Toby frowns looking from Aspen—someone he views as a sister and his girlfriend in confusion, "Why is that a secret?" Toby quizzes with a shrug.

Spencer looks at Aspen who nods encouraging her to explain to Toby what happened last night with the anklet.

"Okay, you know that anklet that was turned in to the police? Well, he didn't find that on his own" Spencer reveals.

"So, what? You needed something to keep me busy for the night?" Toby questions quietly.

"Look, he got a tip, and Jason wants to prove Garrett guilty" Aspen explains joining the conversation hating seeing her best friends hurting.

"Yeah, but he ended up doing the opposite" Toby responds, "Well, I'm not giving up and neither is Aspen, we don't think that that anklet proves anything, he is guilty!" Spencer mutters.

"And you're sure of this?" Toby asks, "Why are you challenging me?" Spencer snaps.

"Because there was a time when you thought I murdered Alison, remember?" Toby utters.

"Ugh, actually—I never did, not once" Aspen states shrugging looking at the male who sighs.

"Evidence can get distorted, taken out of context, it's made me a lot slower to pass judgement" Toby responds while the school bell rings startling Aspen.

"Better get to class" Toby mutters, Spencer sighs standing up and stopping infront of Aspen.

"Meet me here later on?" Spencer wonders, "Sure, see you then" Aspen responds.

Toby looks at Aspen seeing her fidgeting with the singlet she's wearing.

"Are you alright?" Toby asks gently recognising the signs of anxiety anywhere—especially hers.

"Yeah, just worried about Jason" Aspen responds standing up and hugging Toby goodbye.

Before going back to her apartment seeing Sabrina napping on the couch due to having another one of her migraines.

Aspen tiptoes around the apartment grabbing some stuff and a bottle of mineral water from her fridge and gently patting Bowie's head goodbye before exiting her apartment quietly not wanting to disturb the ill dirty blonde from her peace.

─────────────────

ASPEN RETURNS TO THE SCHOOL like Spencer asked, this time holding salads and a few cold beverages from the Grille since she thought Spencer might be hungry and she was correct.

After eating lunch and catching up for a little bit Aspen sucks in a deep inhale seeing Jason running towards the high school clearly deep in the thought due to rubbing his nose and looking at the ground instead of everywhere else.

"Jason!" Spencer shouts capturing the males attention, Jason stops mid run seeing Spencer stood beside the table where Aspen's putting away some of the left over food.

Before getting up and placing the rubbish in the bin avoiding eye contact with her boyfriend due to feeling insanely guilty for getting him involved in the situation.

"Hey" Spencer greets walking closer to the male who's looking at Aspen's figure stood at the trashcan, "What's up?" Jason questions.

"I, uh, heard you were going to be on the basketball courts" Spencer mumbles.

"Yeah, I was, pulled myself out of the game" Jason responds looking at Spencer now since Aspen's walking over to join the two half siblings.

"Why?" Spencer wonders, "Figured I'd hurt less people running around the block" Jason answers truthfully trying to get Aspen to look at him eventually giving up hearing her sigh and give in and make eye contact with him.

"Right, well, that answers my next question" Spencer murmurs, "Which was?" Jason wonders.

"Are you okay?" Aspen questions speaking up for the both of them just wanting him to talk to her again.

Jason looks around and sighs making Aspen copy the gestures and tear up thinking this might be the end of their relationship—a stupid anklet that she gifted his younger sister when she was alive.

Spencer sighs seeing the couple hurting, "I'm so sorry that we dragged you into this" Spencer voices.

"It's not your fault, Spencer, Aspen, you didn't make me walk into that police station" Jason responds in a flat tone.

Aspen tears up hearing the sound of her full name on her tongue instead of her nickname looking away so he doesn't see her regaining control over her emotions.

"I know, but I thought that—" Spencer rambles panicked, "I know, that this piece of jewelry would have ended this, but it didn't, all right? Now, instead of being the big hero, I'm back to being the big screw-up" Jason mutters.

"Nobody thinks that" Aspen responds shaking her head, "Really? Maybe I should let you pick up my father from the airport" Jason snaps harshly seeing Aspen flinch at the tone in his voice.

"Do your parents think that Garrett is still guilty, or do they think that now it's somebody else?" Spencer quizzes.

"I don't know what they think, never have" Jason flatly responds, "Well, what do you think?" Aspen questions tiredly.

"I think that I'm done looking for answers around here, that's what I think, I'm not a detective, and I'm not a lawyer" Jason mutters in response.

Avoiding eye contact with the blonde girl scratching his forehead in regret over snapping at her minutes prior.

"Hey, I, uh, I met Cece Drake this morning, did you know that she's back in town?" Spencer smirks.

"I heard" Jason says now looking at Aspen who returns the look with a shrug, "I didn't even know that she and Ali were friends, she said that you guys spent an intense summer—" Spencer responds.

"Everything with Cece's intense" Jason states seeing Aspen looking down at the ground with a smile on her face, "Did it end on a bad note?" Spencer questions not looking at both Aspen and Jason.

"You could say that" Aspen responds with a blush on her cheeks and cheeky giggle making Spencer groan in realisation about the bad note.

Jason huffs suddenly feeling Aspen's eyes tracing down his sweaty figure despite them being complicated at the moment—his fault not hers, she still makes him melt under her gaze.

"Look, I got to, uh, get home and take a shower, I'm gonna be late for his plane" Jason explains motioning to the sidewalk he still has to run back to his house.

"Okay" Spencer and Aspen nod watching Jason jog off in the opposite direction eventually turning into a run.

"Go get him! Don't let his stubborn ass push you away Spenny! Go!" Spencer demands ushering Aspen off towards her vehicle.

Aspen nods staring the ignition and driving off down the road seeing Jason's running figure.

"Get in the car and don't whinge!" Aspen orders unlocking the doors seeing Jason huff and get in the passenger seat sighing in relief at the aircon flowing in the girls car.

What feels like forever is only five minutes in the car with pure silence only Jason's breathing calming down from his running speed.

Aspen watches the road ahead of her and pulls in-front of the DiLaurentis house not unlocking the doors to the vehicle hearing Jason sigh in frustration trying to get out of the vehicle.

"Are we done? Just like that? Over a stupid anklet—that I gifted your sister?" Aspen exclaims stunning the DiLaurentis male.

"We aren't done, no—I'm not losing you again ever, I just didn't want you to see me angry like I was the other night, I'm sorry" Jason responds turning to face his gorgeous girlfriend in the drivers seat.

Before taking in her natural beauty for the day since she hasn't got any makeup on and her natural waves are flowing with the air conditioning in the car.

"Good, I'm glad, now go shower and get your stinky ass out of my car, call me if you need me, okay?" Aspen playfully states unlocking the car watching her boyfriend climb out with a chuckle.

"Jase—I mean it, if he starts on you, call me and I'll come and get you, I love you" Aspen demands seeing Jason nodding while walking onto the patio of his house.

"I love you, gorgeous!" Jason responds walking into his house and Aspen drives off heading to the Brew to meet Hanna and Spencer.

─────────────────

SPENCER SMILES SEEING ASPEN walking down the street with Bowie on her side on his leash.

"Hey, little guy" Spencer says in a baby soft patting Bowie's head, "How is that Jason got him for you like months ago and he's still so small?" Spencer wonders.

"I don't actually know, his breed—I'm guessing" Aspen shrugs with a smile hearing Spencer's phone ringing with Hanna's contact information flashing on the screen.

"You can't block a court order in an afternoon, she needs time" Spencer explains not evening getting a hello from the panicked Marin girl on the opposite line.

Aspen chuckles motioning to Bowie's leash—Spencer nods grabbing a hold of it so Aspen can order herself a coffee inside.

"Hi, can I please have an iced coffee?" Aspen politely asks smiling at the man working at the register.

The male makes her order and smiles at her handing the drink over with a wink, "It's on the house, pretty" the male says.

"Uh, thanks" Aspen smiles walking outside unaware of the look on the male's face watching her leave and sit outside with her friends.

Hanna frowns seeing Jason and Mr DiLaurentis getting out of their business car ahead of them.

"When did Alison's father get back to Rosewood?" Hanna wonders curiously.

Bowie whines happily wagging his tail seeing his human dad down the street which captures Jason's attention making him look up and make eye contact with Aspen seated at the table silently asking if his okay which he nods at and walks inside behind his father.

Aspen looks in between Hanna and Spencer missing their conversation about Mr DiLaurentis due to having a silent conversation with her boyfriend worried about his mental health with his father in town for the next few days.

"Are you okay good?" Spencer questions snapping Aspen from her thoughts.

"Yeah, we're good" Aspen responds with a smile sipping on her ice coffee before placing Bowie on her lap away from all the people walking on the sidewalk gently patting his head along with Hanna who's seated beside her.

Aspen returns back to her apartment with Bowie on her side happily tiptoeing towards his bed and rolling around before dozing off into his puppy sleep world.

─────────────────

EMILY LEAVES THE BREW smiling at a text message she received from Aspen with an attached photo of Bowie's sleeping form—now on her bed that she just changed.

"Hey" CeCe calls out seeing the Fields girl walking towards her car, "Hey" Emily greets.

"So you deliver now?" CeCe wonders gesturing to the coffee cup in her hand, "Oh, no, this is for me" Emily responds with a tired smile.

"Americano, straight—well, the coffee, at least" CeCe says guessing Emily's drink of choice making both of them chuckle softly.

"So, did you talk to handsome?" CeCe wonders, "His name's Nate" Emily explains, "That's not an answer" CeCe responds.

"Yes, I did, but I don't think it worked, in fact, I think he ended up liking Jenna more" Emily states.

"Well, at least you tried" CeCe sighs, "That reminds me, I should give you my number" CeCe offers holding up her phone.

"Yeah" Emily responds getting her phone out from her pocket and handing it to the blonde woman.

"So, uh, do you see Ali's big brother around much?" CeCe questions discreetly pulling up Jenna's mobile number from Emily's phone.

"He's around" Emily confirms with a nod, "Is he single?" CeCe smirks.

"No, actually—his dating Aspen still" Emily responds with a shrug, "No, oh my gosh, really?" CeCe gasps with a smile on her face.

"Yeah, how long did you—" Emily asks being interrupted by CeCe holding a finger in the air and dialling Jenna's number on her phone.

"Hi, is this Jenna? The better question is, who the hell are you, and why are you going out with my boyfriend?" CeCe snarls on the phone.

"Whoa!" Emily mumbles shocked, "Oh, you didn't? 'Cause I think that you did know, and just didn't care" CeCe states.

"Please stop" Emily whispers alarmed, "Here's what I know—it I ever see you anywhere near Nate, I will scratch your eyes out" CeCe snarls ending the phone call then and there shocking Emily.

"What are you doing? She used to be blind" Emily explains, "Oh! Well, it needed to be done, it's not like we shot a unicorn—we're helping your friend out" CeCe scoffs.

"I know, but—" Emily trails off nervously, "Do you want me to call her back, tell her that I was kidding?" CeCe questions seeing Emily's shocked face but not receiving a response about calling her back.

"That's what I thought, problem solved—see you around, americano" CeCe voices with a smirk leaving Emily standing there for a minute genuinely stunned at Aspen and Alison's old friend.

─────────────────

ASPEN SITS ON THE COUCH catching up on her tv series since she hasn't been that interested in television lately hearing an urgent knock on her apartment door.

"What's—wrong?" Aspen wonders trailing off seeing Spencer holding a very intoxicated Jason up from falling on his face, "Get him inside, come on" Aspen demands gently.

"I can't—Toby's downstairs and I need to explain to him what happened tonight, just please look over him, he crashed his car and he might have a concussion" Spencer rambles nervously.

"Of course Spence, where's the car?" Aspen frowns, "At his house, Toby drove me to my car and Wilden showed up at my house—Toby covered me—and Jason" Spencer explains rushing off back to Toby who's waiting downstairs in Spencer's car.

Aspen runs her hands through her hair seeing Jason slumped on the bench almost falling over.

"Jase, come on baby" Aspen demands wrapping her arm around his neck and carrying him towards the bedroom helping him sit on the bed without falling.

Jason releases a heartbreaking sob seeing Aspen bending down on her knees in front of him.

"Baby, why didn't you call me?" Aspen questions standing up after taking off his shoes, "I'm sorry" Jason slurs with tears flowing down his cheeks.

"Shush, it's okay Jase, let me take this off" Aspen offers placing her hands on the bottom of his t-shirt and taking it off and throwing it in the laundry hamper.

"Asp, I'm really sorry baby" Jason cries while Aspen undoes his jeans and helps him step out of them gently lying him back on the bed so he can sleep off the alcohol.

"Shush, it's okay, just sleep for me okay, handsome?" Aspen soothes running her fingertips along Jason's forehead and scalp.

While he wraps his arms tightly around her waist luring himself into sleep due to the alcohol in his system.

Aspen lies beside him wide awake looking around the room smelling the whiskey coming off her intoxicated sleeping boyfriend.

Jason eventually rolls off Aspen and sleeps on his side of the bed making Aspen able to sneak out of the apartment.

Since Hanna sent Emily, Spencer and her SOS text messages and to meet at Aria's house.

"A code?" Emily asks after Hanna explained to them what happened this afternoon at Radley while Aria and her were visiting Mona.

"It's a stupid thing she made up back when we were friends" Hanna explains, "Why wouldn't she just come out and say it?" Aspen questions with a yawn.

"Because Aria was there, she doesn't trust her" Hanna states, "So it's my fault? You gave the girl a pair of tweezers" Aria exclaims lowly.

"Look, Mona pushed me to remember that day with Ali's dad, because that's when she gave me the code" Hanna responds.

"Okay, I have a French exam at 8am, could we just skip ahead to the actual message?" Spencer demands.

"'No one to save Ali from evil', that's what she kept saying, if you take the first letter of each word, you get—" Hanna quietly explains.

"'Not safe'" Spencer realises getting shocked looks from Aspen, Aria and Emily, "It's not, like, that complicated" Spencer mumbles.

"Yeah, but there's more" Hanna responds, "Oh, my god, what's that other poem? Something about Garrett and Maya" Aria quizzes suddenly gaining Emily's interest.

"'Where were we? Maya's away, sleeping sweet'" Hanna says repeating what Mona said in the basement at Radley.

"www.mass—she gave you a website" Spencer states opening Aria's laptop, "What was the rest?" Spencer questions.

"'Until Garrett's all rosy, count on me'" Hanna responds, "'Mas sugar', what does that mean?" Spencer lowly wonders writing the website into the search engine.

"M-a-s, that's Maya's initials, Anne was her middle name" Emily states shocked while Aspen yawns again growing more and more exhausted.

"I don't suppose crazy slipped you the password as well?" Spencer states showing the five of them Maya's website.

"Did Mona mean she's not safe, or we're not?" Aspen questions nervously yawning yet again.

"I've gotta get back to my apartment—Jason's there" Aspen voices seeing Spencer looking at her standing up and holding onto her keys.

"Yeah same, I've gotta head home, you ready Em?" Spencer questions seeing Emily nodding and saying goodbye to Hanna and Aria who lay back down to sleep.

"How is he? Is he alright?" Spencer questions, "He was passed out when I left and a wreck before he fell asleep, but—he'll be fine Spence, I promise" Aspen explains hugging the Hastings girl.

Before driving back to her apartment where Jason's still passed out in the bed with Bowie now snuggled at the end of the bed.

Aspen inhales and exhales climbing into bed and letting the nightlife outside lure her into her sleep.

Feeling Jason's muscular arms wrap themselves around her waist before fading into deep sleep.
