Meeting

It's Wednesday again.

Yoongi steps into the greenhouse and peeks around. She'll be on the bridge again, won't she? Unbeknownst to him, a small smile forms on his lips, his legs moving on their own. He guides himself over to the familiar bridge within only a few seconds. The girl is there as expected, her form leaning against the railing. Strange, from here she appears as though she's a normal girl. She's far from normal, but he means she looks... innocent. Harmless. It makes him light up with amusement. Innocent. An innocent girl. Yeah right.

He cautiously strolls onto the bridge, the wood creaking under his shoes. The creak garners her attention, her head swiveling so their eyes can lock. She doesn't speak for several moments. When she doesn't object to him coming closer, he keeps going until he's right next to her, shifting so he can observe the scenery.

They stare out at the nature in dead silence. Two rivals in the same room together, yet this feels like one of the most peaceful moments of his life. Maybe she's not as bad as he originally thought. After all, she did put down a plan by her right hand to kill him. At least she's a woman of her word, that's something he can admire along with... other things. For example, her appearance. He can't help but find her attractive. Mafia leader or not, he's still a guy, and eyeing her up and down now is making his heart beat faster. He's close to this beautiful, dangerous woman. It honestly excites him.

The silence still hangs over them for a few minutes. Yoongi doesn't speak. Neither does she. What's there to talk about? The weather?

Yoongi bites his lower lip as he thinks and thinks for the few minutes of silence; however, she beats him to it. "What was your relationship to Jung Hoseok?" she whispers. It's not even a question, more of an order. He almost laughs.

"We were friends, not that it's any of your business. You have some nerve, don't you?"

"Maybe I do, but when my right hand tells me that he wanted to put a bullet in your head, it makes a girl curious, you know?"

"Who the hell are you?" he asks instead. "How is someone as young as you in charge?"

"My father was the ruler at one point," she says. "When he got assassinated, I took over. Simple as that. See how easy that was? It's called talking, Mr. Min. It's not that hard to do." She shoots him a gaze that challenges him to oppose her. Although Yoongi considers himself a worthy opponent, he figures the greenhouse is the wrong setting to mess with his rival. So, he swallows his massive pride.

"Hoseok and I grew up together. We did everything as one. We were closer than friends: we were brothers... until we had a disagreement." Yoongi breaks off to pause, forcing the memories away from his mind. "Long story short, we didn't see eye to eye on something very important. That's what led him to join you rather than me. So much for 'through thick and thin we're brothers'."

"Believe it or not, I know what you mean."

Yoongi bites back his scoff, rolling his eyes. "I doubt that."

"My brother left me," she says. He freezes up and mentally face palms himself for his actions. "Yeah, believe me now? He didn't want to be apart of this, so he left it on me. When dad died, he left. He told me to figure it out and never came back. I never went looking for him. Why would I?"

Despite himself, Yoongi finds his body shifting closer to her. "I'm sorry."

"Are you?"

He sighs and peers down, placing his hand over hers. "I am." She peeps up at that, him doing the same. Their eyes meet, and it's like they can see each flaw in each other's irises. Both of them live shit lives. They're leaders for horrible, horrible reasons. Maybe this is the start of something new. Something dangerous.

"We may be rivals, but I want you to know I respect you," she says, coming closer by the second. He does the same, gulping all the while.

"I respect you too, Miss L/n."

"Y/n," she says. "No need to be so formal on neutral grounds, don't you think?"

"Y/n," he slowly says as if trying the name on for size. "I like it."

The room feels stuffy despite the smell of flowers and fresh cut grass in the air. They come closer until their hips touch, the tingling sensation he gets from it making them jerk apart. "I-I... sorry," he mumbles, scratching the back of his neck. She sucks in a few breaths, an unreadable expression on her face.

"I uh, me too," she says albeit hesitantly.

He pretends she never even spoke, parting from her body's heat. "I'll see you next week," he says. He turns before he can see the surprised expression on her face.

Yoongi dashes off to the corner of the greenhouse, whipping his phone out and dialing the familiar number. "Come on you asshole, pick up," Yoongi mumbles to himself while listening to the line ring. After a few more silent seconds, he does. Of course, the assassin doesn't speak first. "Mr. Jeon."

"Yes sir?" Jungkook asks.

"I assume the estate plan didn't work?"

"Of course not, you think I'm breaking into a heavily guarded facility to kill a mafia boss? Hell no, I'm waiting for her right now."

He lets out a shaky breath, his hands trembling. "Call it off. I don't want her dead anymore. I don't want a war."

"What? I've been camping out all day only to hear that?"

"I'll compensate you for your efforts. Just... please. Don't hurt her." There's silence for a few beats. During the seconds that tick by, Yoongi feels his heart threaten to jump out of his chest.

"Okay, Mr. Min." The line goes dead before Yoongi can even process the words.

It takes him two more seconds to realize what he said. He lets out a long breath, placing both hands over his face despite the phone in his grasp.

He kicks the ground, shoving the device back in his pocket while he grunts. Fuck this. Fuck being attracted to the most dangerous person to him right now. Yoongi hasn't felt the need to cry in a long, long time, but now, the ache in his chest tells him that he has to. The tears swell up, but he manages to bite his tongue hard enough that they stay at bay for now. His nostrils flare, his eyes narrowing. No, he can't get attached. He won't let himself. With that, Yoongi departs.

But not before taking one last glance at the woman who's captured his heart.
