Chapter 3 ~ Steakhouse
I brushed my hair back neatly, making sure I had no fly aways. I had a nice black tank top on with a pink jacket. I also had on a pair of new blue jeans, and pink sandals, to top it off I had my Defy Gravity necklace on and a bracelet given to me by my old friend Diam.
I grabbed my Louis Vuitton purse and my key card. I took my phone off of the couch and shut off the music. My apartment became oddly silent, desperate to escape the dreadful feeling of nothing I exited into the elevator.
I pressed the button for the ground floor. Almost immediately the elevator went downwards, giving me the familiar feeling of butterflies in my stomach. Once I was down to the lobby I went through the revolving doors.
Gotham's busy city air was something I had hated when I first moved to the quite popular location. After the first few days I had gotten used to it but sometimes I could feel myself slightly suffocating in the -what I call- bipolar smells.
Making my way downtown I felt rather happy, my job required little to no human interaction. So I didn't have any friends to go do stuff with. Hopefully this would be just what I needed. People and cars created a loud atmosphere. Just as I thought I was getting lost I found myself in front of the steakhouse where Diablo and I were supposed to meet.
5:59pm
I looked up, I didn't see El Diablo anywhere, I frowned a little.
"Boo," A familiar voice and the sudden feeling of butterflies
"Diablo?" I asked laughing
"(Y/n)?" He asked, walking in front of me
"Hi," I said, "We should probably go in,"
"Yeah let's go," Diablo nodded towards the door. We walked into the steakhouse, wonderful smells of fresh food reminded me of my morning.
"How many?" a female employee asked with a happy expression,
"Just two," Diablo replied
"Alright just this way," The cheerful girl led us to a small table in the back of the restaurant. Diablo and I sat down and we were handed menus
"Can I start you two off with something to drink?"
"I'll have water please," Diablo said
"I'll have water as well," I added, our waiter skipped away.
"I'm sorry for just suddenly asking you out to dinner like this," Diablo looked away
"No it's fine I haven't been able to get out like this for a while so this is nice," I said, Diablo smiled a little. After a little while our waiter brought us our waters.
"Have you decided on what you are going to have?" The waiter pulled out her note pad
"Yes, I'll have the New York cut steak," I replied
"I'll have the same," Diablo chuckled, once the waiter walked away again I began laughing
"Did you do that on purpose?" I asked
"Nope," Diablo laughed with me, although his laugh seemed... half hearted almost. "So what do you do for a living?"
"Oh I am a writer," I said
"What do you write?"
"Well I write mostly General Fiction but my publisher is trying to get me to write fantasy," I rolled my eyes
"What about you, what do you do"
"I haven't found a steady job yet, my life was sort of," Diablo paused, "Interrupted,"
"Oh that sucks I bet you'll find a good job," I tried to change the mood, which seemed to be slipping. Diablo smiled at my attempt to cheer him up. "So have you lived in Gotham your whole life?"
"Yep, born and raised. Have you lived here your whole life?" Diablo shifted slightly in his chair
"No I recently moved here, I've been here since superman took a wrong turn," I remember seeing that superman was no longer alive. Diablo nodded as our food arrived at our table.
Diablo's P.O.V
Earlier
"Are you sure this is her number?" I asked Deadshot
"Yeah," Deadshot shook his head "Man I don't know why you couldn't just go ask her. You owe me one hot pants."
"Yeah whatever," I scoffed, I decided to text the number right away.
Hello
Almost immediately I got a response, I'm going to be mad if this is the wrong number.
