[31]-Turret Trouble
[ Co-Author: butterfly123199]
The three took a small rest inside of Vin's place, keeping away from patrols, and Daxter's loud snores occasionally annoying Vin himself.
Trinity was already outside of the facility, watching in the shadows as the midnight blanket were draped over the retreating dawn. Few silent and meaningful moments had passed, until Jak came out to join Trin.
"This will be a reckless thing to do, but- "
"I won't stop you."
Jak stepped back in shock, "You won't?" He then crossed his arms. "Is there a catch?"
"Yeah, I'm coming with. And maybe get El in on this." Seeing Jak's unconvinced expression, he prompted Trinity to continue. "It's an unauthorized attack on The Baron's Palace. I know what you're planning since you must've figured out long ago that Vin could use his skills and change navigation on the Warp Gate, am I correct?"
"How'd you know? Well, almost. I was planning for him to have the elevator work."
Trinity had forgotten that his mechanic told the recruit about the old maintenance lift. "Well... I was personally debating on doing it myself long ago."
"Reason?"
"Wasn't the best time. The biggest breakout of the Prison ever to be recorded still ran fresh before you came in the picture."
"Well. If you've got no objections, that's good enough for me."
"Let's head inside first."
Eventually stretching the sleep out of their limbs, Jak approached the informant. Who, still typed away and was keeping a close eye on the City's statuses. Trin wondered himself if the man ever had some shuteye once in a while.
"Vin, buddy, we need a favor."
Vin half mindedly waved it off, his eyes glued to the screens. "I can't help you with your eco bill."
Dax rode on Jak's shoulder armor and perched on it with a huge smile (as if it'd make any difference). Trinity on the other hand, contacted El.
Elise (Communicator) : [Anything wrong, Trinny?]
Trin (Communicator) : [We got the next mission, if you don't mind tagging along... Listen in.]
He watched as Trin let the device fly around the room, its orange lens taking in all the visual glory of computer screens.
Jak and Dax were speaking with Vin. "We need you to switch on the access elevator in one of the Palace's support towers."
Vin exploded. "Sheesh, that's part of the old B-Zone power grid! It hasn't worked for years."
He turned around slowly so his back faced Vin. "Well, if it's too hard for you..." Jak winked at Dax. "I understand. Power stuff can be tricky."
Trinity stood leaning comfortably on the metal rails, grinning under his crimson mask.
"Tricky? Hmph!"
'Aaand now he's done it.' The orange ottsel had a mischievous smirk.
Instantly, Vin made the transporting platform zoom across the room! "I could route the B-Zone conduit lines through the bypass grid, shunting past the eco rings to connect the inductor tubes in series...*click, clack, click*...then back through the outer wall indicator helix and across the resonant flux routes into the number five capacitor array. ...*fwoosh!*...Assuming the circuits in the GX75B can handle the surge...*beep, boop, beep*...I could link the phase loop lines into the primary coils, and!...*thud!*... Presto! You've got instant lift juice!"
Jak smiled, perfectly as he had imagined. "Vin, you're a genius!"
Trinity wanted to laugh, if only El could see it in person.
The informant on the other hand, hadn't realized he'd done it. But then he waved his arms - gesturing to all the brilliant technology that thrived in this very temple of his. "Eh, actually, Mar was the genius. People say he made most of this stuff long ago—the Shield Wall system, the eco grid..."
Trinity quietly stared at the Precursor Ring that served as the teleporter.
"...Anyway, to get that elevator moving, you gotta find and turn on all the old B-Zone power boxes located in the city. There are five of them!"
Daxter quipped, "That doesn't sound so tough."
"No. Except those power boxes are guarded by motion-sensing turbo cannons!" He erratically pointed with his finger guns to emphasize the point.
As Trinity stepped up, Jak had a determined grin, and Dax had his mouth gaped in morbid shock. 'So much for being easy.'
"But, if you can destroy the cannons, and switch the boxes on, I can do the rest. Just don't tell the Baron I ever saw all you!"
To that, Trinity strolled out with Jak following. Daxter was silently but very expressively shaking his head 'no'.
Trin (Communicator) : [Got all that, El? Those cannons are weak in defenses, I'm sure you'd love to crash Zoomers intentionally for once. The power boxes are right under or in their little potholes.]
El (Communicator) : [You know me too well Trinny, and I heard everything. I'll handle the canons and contact you when I'm finish- Wait what do you mean intentionally? Are you poking fun at me, Trin? Don't make me tell them about you know what!]
Trinity flinched at the thought of it, snatching the hovering Communicator quickly.
Trin (Communicator) : [You do that and I'll have Torn give you a Hell of a time with errand runs - then I swear, I'll cut your tongue off.]
He could've sworn he heard uncontrollable snickering at the other end. Jak was busy stealing a Zoomer, "Sorry about that! C'mon, Trin!"
Trin (Communicator) : [I'll keep this line up, there's 3 in this sector and 2 in The Slums.]
He jumped up, taking Jak's hand and boarded the vehicle along for the ride!
El (Communicator) : [Yeah, yeah whatever you say, Trinny. You don't have the guts to do it, but keep testing me and we'll see how cute everyone thinks you are! I'll call you when I'm finished.]
Choosing to not answer with a retort, Trinity stood up, the winds rushing overhead! "What are you doing?!"
Trinity laughed with exhilaration firing up his heart! "I can handle myself! I wouldn't need to babysit you like in Dead Town do I?" He jumped and hijacked another vehicle, hearing Jak's 'humph' behind him. Trin's own Communicator followed him closely by his side.
The group had splitted. When they went separate ways, Trinity soon saw a crimson turret being closely guarded. 'Time to do what I always wanted!' His heart raced and with a mad smile under his mask, he revved it up!
"It's that traitor!"
"Surrender and d- ARGH!"
The masked madman didn't stop for a split second, he only darted past them with increasing speed, heading straight for the turbo cannons! "Guy's a MANIAC!"
*BOOOM!!!*
Trinity had jumped off early enough before he blew himself up in a fiery demise! But he didn't waste time, he dashed for the gap where the turret was mounted on, and Trin had pulled a switch! 'One down!' Dangerous tracers singed his jetblack cape, ducking, he leapt onto a KG Cruiser and yanked the guard off!
He saw the green signal disappear, and another, then the third was gone.
Trin (Communicator) : [Got one, how's your guy's end?]
Jak & Dax (Communicator) :
[Oh yeah! We barbequed that turret! Orange Lightning's, goin' FIERCE!]
[Hey, watch where you're pointing my Blaster, Dax!]
Elise (Communicator) : [About to take out another! HA! TAKE DAT BIATCHES WAPOW!]
Trin (Communicator) : [Too much coffee?]
Jak & Dax (Communicator) :
[NEVER gettin' on her bad side EVER. Not again.]
[Why's that?]
[I- I don't wanna relive that present box...]
Elise (Communicator) : [I hope you learned your lesson, Dax.]
Trin and Elise could imagine Dax's shudder. There was one left, alarms had rang throughout the districts. 'Torn's not gonna be happy when he literally hears this.'
On the map, Trinity could see that the closest one was at the entrance to The Slums. Most likely he was going to meet the others.
*FWOOOSH!!*
"Holy Precursors!"
"Sorry, Trinny!"
Trinity saw a badly busted single-seated KG Zoomer dart past him! He shook his head, it was fun, but he did NOT want to see himself and another comrade die because of themselves. He even felt her own Communicator nick Trin's mask.
Trin (Communicator) : [Damn, you almost killed me!]
Elise (Communicator) : [Hey! I said, I'm sorry!]
Trinity soon saw the familiar yellow-green hair and orange ottsel emerging out from a corner of a building. They all didn't slow down, because when they had regrouped, the pursuits gathered too! They drove alongside each other, wing to wing.
Trinity yelled as he deactivated his Communicator, "You ride, we cover!"
Elise nodded as Jak reloaded his Blaster, Trinity took out his Snipertron (which he had fetched back when they were resting). "Hold tight, boys! This is gonna be one hell of a ride!"
As Elise was the one to pull away, the others nodded in sync and broke off in opposite directions! Having radioed in the alerts, the turret was already aiming at the group! Jak and Trin were busy holding off the pursuers. Frankly, the situation was beautiful to Trin. All three of them were impressively flying in circles in both clockwise and counterclockwise! The turret couldn't keep up and the KG tailing behind each one crashed into another Hellcat!
Elise suddenly banked upwards, her hands gripping at the steering wheel, and was about to use gravity to her favor - to crash into the turret! "I'm almost to the turret! Keep them off my back!" She shouted, hopefully loud enough for the boys to head over all the commotion."
"Don't let those eco freaks have a cha- AGH!"
*BANG!*
"Right in the face!" Yelled Dax.
"Nice shot!"
"Here we GOO!"
Trinity used a discarded Hellcat for a ramp as means to reach higher into the air! "Come on!" He reached out to Elise!
*BOOOM!*
Elise was breathing hard with adrenaline, Trinity hastily hopped off to pull the last power switch!
Vin (Communicator) : [Okay, the B-zone power grid is back online. Have fun being killed in the Palace.]
Jak's device returned to him and they all followed Trinity around the city block, the KGs getting frustrated. "So what now?'
Jak called out, "We get to the lift!"
"But first we gotta get this whole crowd off our backs! My fur's gonna be burned up from all those bullets!"
Trinity quickly formulated a plan to shake them off, "Split up Jak! We'll meet you at the elevator!" They immediately broke apart again, the KGs also splitting into two groups. "Shoot 'em, El! Can't guarantee that I can keep steady though!"
"Just try to keep me close!" She yelled, pulling one of her eco pistols from its holster and trying her best to aim. "Come on, come on..." She whispered to herself.
*BANG, BANG, BANG!*
"Two down! Keep it steady, Trin!"
"There's a turn up ahead! Hold on!" Trinity turned sharply.
She gripped the Hellcat as best as she could with her free hand, aiming yet again with her other. "Get a little closer!"
"Trying..." He tried to have the vehicle steady, ducking his head as the Krimzon Guards continued to fire!
*BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG!*
"Another two go- ACK!" She quickly retreated back into the vehicle. "SHIT!" She glared down at the fresh wound in her forearm. "THESE BASTARDS ARE GOING DOWN!"
Trinity hissed at the grazing projectile, "Damn... It's just a scratch - focus on them!"
Dawn: Easy for you to say!!
Beth: Dawn! Calm yourself, I know you're under stress, but going Dark is NOT the best plan right now!
Dawn: It's not the best plan but it's still a plan!
Shaking her head, Elise stood back up. She aimed her eco pistol and fired!
*BOOM!*
"Got the driver to one!" She yelled, squeezing her eyes shut for a moment. "Girls, now's not the best time!"
Beth: Tell that to Miss Easy-Fuse!
Dawn: I say we go dark!
Beth: No! Just because Trinity was able to control her last time, doesn't mean he can THIS time! We can't take any risks right now!
Elise growled and did her best to break through the headache forming.
Trinity was tightening his hold on the wheel, "El, if something's acting up - I can switch!" He glanced at the corner of his mask's eyeholes, while narrowly dodging walls! His sniper rifle clattered on his armor and back.
"No! I'm fiNE!" She glanced down at her fingertips that were turning snow white. "Just keep going, I'll be okay!"
Beth: NO!
Trinity had one hand on the dagger in case. Gritting his teeth as there was so much going on.
The scent of her own blood slowly trickling down her arm triggered every wrong switch, but she still tried to push through. She still couldn't remember what happened the last time.
"Just a cou-PLE MORE!" her voice cracked. She bit her tongue and took aim.
Trinity thought. 'This isn't going to be good...' He kept eyeing the Dark Dagger's handle on his belt.
*BANG!*
"One down, one to go!" She yelled, her fingers now completely a bone pale. 'Last one, keep it together, Elise.'
Beth: DAWN! STOP IT!!
Elise let out shaky breaths, inhaling through her nose before taking her last shot.
*CRASH! BOOM!*
"He's doWN!" She slapped her hand over her mouth, flinching at the metallic scent of her blood. "Trinity I CAN'T!" She snapped, covering the wound on her arm instead to help block out the scent. "Get into the shadows! We'll meet Jak and Daxter later!" She didn't wait for an answer before opening her communicator.
Elise (Communicator) : [Jak! We're clear on our side! Meet us at the lift when you're ready!]
Jak & Dax (Communicator) : [Gotcha.]
[Don't miss me TOO much, sweetie!]
[*SMACK!*]
[OW! WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!]
[We'll meet you there, Elise.]
Elise (Communitator): [Daxter next time I see you... YOU'RE GONNA GET POACHED!!]
Jak & Dax (Communicator): [EEK!]
Their ride was completely smoking and damaged, Trinity soon parked it into a dim corner and jumped off. "Elise!" Finally getting a good look at his partner, she was deathly pale. Even her nails seemed to sharpen to a point and it showed that she was in the middle of transforming. Quick as a feather, he gently took hold of El's hand. She was sweating and struggling to keep her dark counterpart from going rampant. Within a flash he already made her touch the handle of the Dark Dagger.
'I should've kept a closer eye on her.' He carefully watched Elise, wary of when she'll turn. His heart fluttered around inside him like a hummingbird in a cage; it wasn't because of him holding her hand. But it was because he was so concerned about her.
She let out heavy breaths, giving his hand almost a painful squeeze as her panting turned into growling.
Trinity felt slight jolts of dark electricity run across his infected arm. Realizing that it wasn't enough to stop her from transforming, he violently pried her hand off and retreated a few steps back. 'Too late...' He cursed at himself. Now his mind and heart raced from growing and gnawing fear. He knew he had traumatic disorder from past situations-
"Trinity..." She called, her voice worned as she scraped her sharp claws against the wall. "D-Don't... leave.." She let out pained gasps, clearly straining herself. Had they not been alone, there would've been a mass panic.
The masked man couldn't speak. For some odd reason his nerves were getting shot, but another part of him forced him to stand instead of back away. The two could hear his hand trembling and the metal of the powered-up dagger quivering. As for himself, he could only hear his own erratic breathing in his mask. He knew the sounds other than that were his heartbeats banging against his ears, every other thing was drowned out. All but him and her.
Elise let out small growls, slowly turning to face Trinity completely. She hadn't turned, no not yet. One of her brown eyes were tinted with a poisonous purple tint, the tints almost looking like streaks of lighting. She hesitantly took a step forward and roughly covered her wound to keep the smell away.
"T-Trinity..."
She stopped in place when she was only but a few steps away from him. She shakily began to outstretched her hand to him, trembling in place. Had it not been for her fear of harming him, she would've transformed a while ago. As she stared at him, her other eye slowly gained the purple streaks, earning another pained grunt from her. All the while, she continued to outstretch her hand.
'Snap out of it!' He shut his eyes forcefully for a moment, then opened them again. Trinity pointed the knife the other way slowly, and wordlessly approached his friend. 'It's not Moria. It's not her. I thought we were done with that old memory.'
He couldn't find any way to speak, yet his thoughts were running on overdrive.
'She has control. Help her.'
He gingerly gave the handle over to her. Both of them are undergoing emotional breakdowns.
'This is El. Not Moria.'
She roughly grabbed onto the handle of the dagger, letting out a soft grunt. The blade began to illuminate a deep violet glow from the eco, sparking ever so slightly. The tint that was once in her brown eyes were slowly fading, but left behind painful spikes of fear. Her insipid, shaking hands dropped the dagger in front of Trinity - feeling too weak to even hold the little object.
She felt frail, drained, and overall like a big mess. Her stomach began to bubble with guilt– the feeling gravely overwhelming.
"Trinny..." Elise called yet again, her voice weak and hoarse. Her tone was hardly above a whisper.
He caught her in his arms and they both slowly settled down on the cold hard concrete, the incoming midnight was frigid. Trinity's veins on his arm seemed to grow a small indigo hue, the dagger was leaking with Dark Eco. With Elise being near him, he could feel his nerves in his arm as if they were needles stabbing into it. Trinity only uttered out a mere murmur of pain.
She let out breathless huffs of pain as she laid against him, her eyes slowly being drawn to the color of the veins. She felt her heart swell and her stomach twist.
"Did I do this?" She asked, looking up at the masked man holding her.
'They're permanent- ' She thought and squeezed her eyes shut.
"Why do I keep hurting you? Why do you always forgive me?" Mindless words seemed to spew out of her mouth without her knowledge. Or at least, she thought they were mindless.
'Why do I care about you so much? Why do you care about me so much?'
"Why didn't Baron just kill me..." She whispered, her eyes squeezed shut. Her chest aches with sorrow and guilt. She didn't dare look up at him anymore. 'They're permanent, those marks are permanent and it's all my fault.'
Elise could hear Trinity's labored breathing as his body struggled to go for the knife. He fraily stretched out his fingers, the very fingertips quivering and frustratingly nudging the dagger just out of reach every time.
The least she could do was help him.
They both rested on the wall, the narrow alley completely enveloped within the darkness. Watching, the blade sang once again as it made contact with his pale left arm.
"This was all Praxis' doing." He leaned his head on the wall, the anxiety and pain washing away. After a few moments, he uttered out: "I forgive because this does not define you." He sheathed the dagger with El's assistance on the belt. "I was always partly to blame - what happened when you gone off? You bottled the eco and - something else." He grimaced at a familiar memory, "Don't ever store it like that..."
'Everyone dies like that. We are all poisoned, some can't even release it.'
As they waited for the alerts to blow over before being on the move again, the two continued the conversation to pass the time.
El hesitantly reached up and grazed her fingers over Trinity's shoulder, following the purple streaks. She flinched and hissed when the 'wound' gave off a little shock. She closed her eyes and let out a soft growl. "I can't always let it go," she huffed, "look what just happened! I almost hurt you again, Trinity!"
She went to move from his lap, but flinched when she felt his grip on her tighten. So he wants an explanation? She thought. "Out on my mission I..."
Beth: Elise...
"I..." She gritted her teeth as she felt anger yet again rise to her chest, but this time, she began to reach for something. She pulled a slip of paper from her pocket and grabbed Trinity's hand. She gave him the paper.
"He wrote to me before he died..." She grumbled. "I was the one who killed him."
The slip of paper had 'Elise' written on the front in ink. The letter seemed worn down and decrepit, almost tearing apart in Trinity's hand.
"And that's not all I found."
He eyed the ancient parchment silently.
"He didn't die in his sleep..." She angrily stuffed her face into Trinity's chest in an attempt to hold back an outburst.
"He killed himself..."
"And it's all my fault..."
He didn't choose to say anything as Elise was tightly grasping him. He didn't know what to say quite yet, because some deaths and blames - sometimes they're a morbid truth. In some cases, the person really was at fault. It was far too regrettably relatable.
Trinity continued to listen rather than speak.
"I didn't know - he was a scientist. He sought to harness dark eco and use it for good. He started the dark warrior project to help people become immune to dark eco - starting with eco channelers." She swallowed back tears, refusing to let any fall but she loosened her grip on Trinity in fears of hurting him. "As he experimented, the dark eco got to him..."
"I didn't know, he hid it so well..." she shook her head, anger boiling inside of her. "He didn't want to hurt me - so he off'd himself" she squeezed her eyes shut. "If I had never walked into his life he would still be alive."
Trinity shook his head.
"Don't say that. Ultimately - this was all The Baron's doing. He made a mistake to not get rid of people like us." He absentmindedly stared at her hand. "You say he wanted to do good with it? Can't you imagine the people in the UG or victims in the Prison? Why they have hope because of you and Jak?"
The thought of someone messing with dark eco reminded him of an old legend.
"We've gotta keep going... We're going to see what The Baron's place will be, keep it under control. We're not supposed to be doing this."
He listened hard for the alerts and ruckus from the other ends of the narrow alley.
"If we keep breaking down like this - we won't be able to move on. It's alright to let it out, but not so as to put others in danger." He soothed her, then explained. "We're going to the palace. If you see anyone, Praxis, Erol, any person - can you keep yourself at bay?" He adjusted himself to look directly into her tainted eyes. "Please?"
'If some part of this doesn't go as planned as she said it was supposed to...what would I do?' He thought of his secret meeting with someone.
Elise swallowed thickly, her words almost getting caught in her throat as she stared into his eyes. "I can't promise perfection, but I can promise I'll try my best, Trinny." She said in a soft tone. She went to reach for his hand but second guessed it when she saw the white pigment still tormenting her skin. "Can I ask you a question first...? You can answer it later- I just. I need to ask."
"Yes?"
"Why do you care so much about me..?" She asked, furrowing her eyebrows slightly. "I asked before, but you never gave me a direct answer."
Trinity choked on his words. "M- Moria."
"What?"
For a split moment... that's who was in his arms. Moria. The ravenette gazed up at him, a cheeky grin toying her lips.
"What? Why are ya lookin' at me like that, Trinny?"
He couldn't answer.
In his mind, it was beginning to replay it all over again. Trin's body was frozen, the mixture of seeing his pale friend and that nickname had triggered it. He felt as if he wasn't even 'in the world' at the moment. His hearing had this annoying ringing, he had begun to shut his eyes and Trinity suddenly stood up. He leaned on the wall.
Was he suddenly going through a sensory overload?
He felt sick.
It caught his friend off guard, confused. She stood up as quickly as he did, placing her hands on her hips with utter confusion.
"What are you doing, you idiot? You scared me nearly half to death!" Moria scolded, beginning to step towards him. "Are you feelin' alright? You look like you've seen a ghost!"
Oh if only she had known, he really was seeing a ghost.
It was all too quick, Trinity had shoved her away from him. His blue, panicked eyes were wide. Without even realizing, his hand was already on the dagger at the fly. The shock of the overflowing Dark Eco made him drop it, the clattering of the corrupted Precurian metal violently snapped him back to reality.
He reflexively covered his ear from the ringing. Trin doesn't even know that he was mumbling nonsense himself, "Hn, n- no..." Once again, he squeezed his eyelids shut.
"Trinity!"
Elise hissed, feeling the rough concrete scrape open her wound more. "Trin, It's me! Elise!!" She frantically got up, and rushed to his side. "Trin, snap out of it!" She pleaded, gripping onto his shoulders. "You're okay!"
She hesitantly placed a hand on his chin. "Please, Trinny. Snap out of it!"
"No!" He shoved her away but it was less hostile than before. "N- No, just stop." Trinity was still clutching one side of his head. "I can't." He tried his best to ease his breathing before he accidentally passes himself out.
She stumbled, but kept from falling down that time. 'There's no snapping him out of this... oh Precursors. Now I know how he feels with my dark side...' She had no choice... she had to get him back to the UG. Before he hurt himself or even anyone around them.
"Trinity... Everything's alright. Why are you acting so strange?" Moria took a hesitant step forward. "Hmph. I always knew that dark eco and metalhead hunting will get to your head." She scolded.
Trinity looked up, the Moria he sees then walks around him. Seperating from Elise like a spirit.
'Perhaps so. Moria.' He thought silently.
To Elise, it seems that he was finally calming down. To him however, it was taking an exuberant amount of effort to keep himself from losing it again. He let out a sigh, "It's okay." Trinity shook his head, still shaken.
"Oh? You trying to keep it from losing it, Trinny? It's okay. Seems so fun to watch you do that."
'Shut it. If this is what having a Dawn and Beth in her head feels like, I think I'm going to have a headache trading retorts from you.'
He gritted his teeth, noticing the cut on Elise's hand. Trinity cursed at himself and knelt down to pick the dagger up.
Elise quickly tensed, taking a few steps backwards. She wasn't aware he was bringing himself back and didn't even bother to ask anymore, only assuming the worst. Her hands shook as she placed one of them on her eco pistol, ignoring the stinging from the open wounds on her shoulder and hand. 'When are you gonna stop asking the wrong damn questions?' She cursed herself.
Moria raised an eyebrow, eyeing Elise down before turning back to face Trinity. "Is that the newbie that you're completely busting your ass over?" She crossed her arms over her chest. "Trinny, when are you gonna worry about yourself instead about everyone else? You're a person just like everyone else. If you're taking care of her..."
She frowned. "Then who's taking care of you?"
'...No one but me, Moria. I don't need another person from the afterlife to tell me that. Now, disappear.' From the corner of his eye, she saw the pale woman snicker and vanish within another second. No smoke, no fade. It was just within his blink.
"I'm so sorry." His throat went dry.
"Trinity?" Elise hesitantly called, removing her hand from her weapon. "What the hell just happened?! Are you okay?!" She bombarded him with questions, but was still hesitant to take any step towards him.
Trinity narrowed his frustrated gaze on the bloodstained weapon, wiping it clean then placing it back in its scabbard. "I said I'm fine, El. We need to get moving soon." He took out a bag of green eco from one of his pouches for his partner. "Here..." He took one good look at his unconvinced companion.
He sighed tiredly. 'Damn dark eco.' He knew for sure that he had to keep himself in check next time.
"No..." she ushered the green eco back to him. "I don't want it." She said. She sensed the aggression in his voice, guilt yet again overtaking every other emotion. "I've done my part, now I'll go back. If you want to talk later you know where I'll be..." she stepped back from him.
Trinity interrupted. "No, you need to come with." He thought whether or not to let a crucial information slip. "...Trust me on this." He bit his lip, feeling a sting. "The Baron's going to be there, I've gathered intel that there's a meeting going to happen."
"And what could you possibly need me for?" She growled softly, "Seeing Baron is the LAST thing I want to do, especially while even YOU know I'M UNSTABLE!" She snapped, her voice lowering a few octaves in between words. "I always look up to you, and admire both you and your decisions... but bringing me..." Her expression darkened. "Was the worst fucking idea you've ever had, Trinity."
*BAM!*
He grinded his teeth. "Goddamnit, Elise! I told you to listen to me!! The Baron's the entire damn reason why everyone's been suffering! Unstable?! Look at the goddamn Prison and tell the same thing to those victims who are dying to this very day! I'm talking out of rational sense! The Underground was made to fight back, everyone in the UG suffered in the hands of that tyrannical monster! Say that to Deadtown! Okasan wasn't the only one who fell in the hands of Dark Eco, don't you understand!?"
She blinked in utter shock, her hand placed over her aching cheek. 'Did he just...?' Her expression turned back to a stolid one. Just like the one she always had before she warmed up to Trinity. She lowered her hand and ripped part of her shirt, tightly wrapping it around her hand, hardly focusing on her arm.
"You're right," She huffed, "Let's get this done and report the meeting to Torn. We need to find out why Baron wants to hold a meeting." She silently began to walk past him. "Let's go.."
Dawn: Holy shit, dude.
Beth: Elise..?
"I just want to get this over with." She hissed at her inner voices violently.
Beth: Eep! Sorry, sorry!
"Wait." He smiled to himself, "We ain't reporting to Torn. This is Jak's idea."
"Whatever it is let's just get it done." She grumbled. "Precursors, what I wouldn't do for some shots of White Haven." She stopped in her tracks. "Oh and Trin..."
She slowly looked over her shoulder. "You owe me a drink, you fuckwad." She rubbed her cheek with a glare.
With an amused grin and glad to see the determined El again, Trinity shrugged. "I could steal an entire bar if I wanted."
