Ch 76
Idk why I have the urge to let y'all know this, but when I heard this version of this song I was like "wow, that's Aria."
So if y'all wanted to know what her voice sounds like, it's pretty much exactly this. She has a very soft spoken, kind, warm voice.
Aria's POV
Today has been slow. Alastor is out hunting, so right now I'm just alone in the house, waiting for him to get back.
I'm really bored...
I let off a disgruntled sigh, sinking further into my chair. Maybe I could go out and find him...after all he's only hunting.
How bad could it be?
I'm curious about what he does outside our relationship...overall he keeps his personal life pretty secret.
He hasn't been down to hell or even spoken about it in weeks.
So, I got up, trudging up to my room to get dressed for the cold. There's still a small bit of snow, but not much.
My fingers sifted through my clothing, and I quickly threw together a warm outfit. After that, I grabbed my phone just in case.
But when my screen lit up as I was holding it, something caught my eye. A text from Eliot?
Eliot: remember when u asked me ab Mrs. I?
I read that text and my brows furrowed. Quickly I opened my phone and typed my reply.
'Yes'
Eliot: well...apparently she left. My mom said she just packed up, and she left town just a couple days after thanksgiving.
My eyes widened and my mouth fell open. Left? She left? She didn't even say goodbye or- or stop by or...
Quickly I shook my head, pursing my lips.
She's probably just on a little vacation, that's all.
But she didn't even say goodbye...
I sighed and typed a quick thank you to Eliot for telling me, and then slowly walked downstairs. My feet carried me all the way to the back door and into the dead grass all while I was lost in thought.
Something just doesn't feel right. I can't figure out what it is about Mrs. Ida that just doesn't feel right.
I let off a soft sigh, looking around at the peaceful forest. The trees looked beautiful with no leaves and powdered with a thin layer of snow. Ice glittered from the branches in beautiful frozen droplets.
Each breath I produced made a soft cloud appear and I smiled. Another sigh passed my lips and I had to stop for a second to lean against a tree.
Man I'm out of shape...I haven't even been walking that long.
A few more deep breaths and I was back standing up. I was listening for any sign of Alastor, any little noise.
But it's completely silent. Eerily silent. The air seemed to still, and I couldn't hear a single sound. Not even the birds were singing.
Almost like everything was hiding...
I thought about calling out for him, but maybe that would scare away his game. I remember my dad always said you have to be really quiet when you're hunting.
After a few more minutes of me walking, I started to feel a bit worried. I should have seen him or heard him by now...he's ok isn't he?
My hands gathered at my chest as I tried to keep myself warm, my body shivered slightly.
"Alastor?" I called out weakly, my steps slowly stopping. I waited, knowing he can hear me wherever he is.
My worry only grew when there was no response, and I turned around in a little circle, looking for any sign of him.
"Alastor...?" I called again, and there was still just silence.
Then my entire body tensed up when I felt something breathe on the back of my neck. I spun around immediately, but I was met with nothing.
Am I imagining things?
I hugged myself, my brows furrowing as I got a bit scared.
Then, there was a tap on my shoulder.
I spun around again, and again nothing.
Ok there's no way I imagined that...oh, that bastard.
He's playing with me.
I started walking around, observing the area and trying to see if I can spot him. A smile rose to my face and I put my hands on my hips.
"Alastor show yourself, you dimwit," I said, amusement in my tone. There was a chuckle after I said that, and it seemed to be all around me.
I heard a soft whistle and looked over at where it came from. There was a brief moment I caught a glimpse of him behind a tree about 50 feet away from me.
My feet immediately turned and carried me over to the tree in a jog. I jumped behind the tree.
"Gotcha!" I said with a smile, but he wasn't there. I'm honestly not sure why I was expecting him to be.
I pouted and crossed my arms, then sighed and looked around the area a bit more.
"Behind you," came his voice right by my ear and I jumped before spinning around. He wasn't there.
"Alastor!" I whined, looking around, "that's no fair, how am I supposed to win this game?" I called out. I got no answer.
My ears perked slightly when there was another whistle, to my left. I looked over and once again caught a glimpse of that golden smile.
He ducked behind the tree and I busted into a sprint this time. I hopped behind the tree, but he wasn't there anymore. Of course.
I groaned heavily, "Alastorrrrr, come onnnn," I groaned and heard another laugh echo through the forest.
He is such an ass.
I turned around to start my hopeless search again but paused when behind me were sticks arranged on a patch of snow in the shape of a heart.
Some of my irritation dwindled and I smiled at that.
"You're cute, but you're still annoying!" I called out, and started to walk. How can I get him to come out...
I paused as I thought about this, and suddenly there was a low growl right next to my ear. I jumped but didn't even bother turning around.
Then I heard him chuckle, and instead of surrounding me it was right behind me, "do you give up?" He asked curiously and I spun around.
"Nope!" I yelled, thinking I got him but he wasn't there and I fumed slightly.
Then I got an idea, and I smiled before immediately turning and burying my face into my hands. My shoulders bounced as I started to "cry".
There was silence, aside from my fake sobbing, until I heard footsteps crunch behind me and felt his familiar static.
"Honey? What's wrong? I was only teasing y—"
I spun around and pointed at him with a big smile on my face, "found you!" I screamed triumphantly and his eyes widened before he blinked.
Then his eyelids lowered and his worried smile turned sinister as he placed his arms behind his back.
"You cheating little fox," he said lowly and I giggled and bounced on my heels, trotting up to him.
"I win!" I said happily and he hummed, bending at the waist to be more level with me.
I made it to him, and the look he was giving me probably would have scared me a few weeks ago, but now I just smiled at him and giggled softly.
He just stared at me and I put my arms behind my back, mocking his stance and staring back.
He narrowed his eyes and growled and I narrowed mine and growled back. Although, my growl was far less terrifying.
His smile softened into the one he normally wears around me, and he leaned forward slightly pushing his nose against mine.
After that he stood back up and circled me with a smirk on his face.
"Why are you out here, dear?" He asked me as he circled me like a lion. I spun around slowly to keep an eye on him and I was prepared for him to do something.
"I was bored, you were taking too long," I said simply and he laughed. Then, he disappeared from my sight.
I gasped when arms snaked around my waist and he picked me up off the ground.
"Because I'm hunting! I guess I'll just have to eat you, I did catch you after all!" He said before burying his face into my neck and kissing me multiple times.
I giggled and struggled against him, "you're doing it wrong," I said and he chuckled before putting me down.
I felt his hand slip into mine and he started walking back in the direction of the house. I looked up at him and smiled, then face forward as we walked in a comfortable silence
Then my brows furrowed and I suddenly broke into a coughing fit.
We had to stop walking, and he turned to me before kneeling and looking at me worriedly.
"Aria, are you alright?" He asked and I nodded, clearing my throat.
"Yea, that was random...I'm fine," I said and smiled and he reluctantly stood again, once again taking my hand.
We walked home without any further interruptions.
