{Chapter 8 ~ Basilisk Talk}
I groaned and blinked. My head was pounding ferociously, like a knife had sliced it in half. It was excruciatingly painful. I sat up and looked around me. Everything was blurry. I didn't have my glasses on. So I groped around myself and finally found them. When I clumsily put them on, I saw I was in my bedroom at The Burrow and I was sitting on my bed. I tried to remember what happened before I had ended up in my bedroom. All I could smother up was being in the restricted area in the library. I closed my eyes and sighed. I decided to go to and check it out to see if there was any evidence there to actually know I was in the restricted area. I had spotted my broomstick in the corner of my room earlier which would be perfect transport to get there.
"Accio Broomstick!" I yelled.
I boarded my broomstick and hovered slightly above the ground. Three seconds later, I zoomed off into the distance towards Hogwarts.
I had arrived at the library. I was standing in front of the humongous doors. Honestly, I was a bit nervous to walk in. I took a deep breath and forced myself to step inside. As soon as my feet touched the floor, I screamed. A searing pain had jolted up through my body into my head. It was agonising. I slumped to the floor.
-Flashback-
I could see a crowd had now formed around Hermione, staring at me. I could tell they were wondering what was happening. I would have to thank Hermione for the crowd later on, I thought. I raised my hands and chanted.
Oh come, great snake, and bring your many.
Oh come, great snake, and kill at any.
I laughed evilly and Apparated back to The Burrow.
-Flashback Ended-
I rubbed my head, I felt very, very dizzy. I frowned, I had had some sort of flashback. Oh come, great snake, and bring your many. Oh come, great snake, and kill at any. That chant seemed to just come off the top of my head. I'd have to ask Hermione about it. I would have to thank Hermione for the crowd later on. Okay, now that sentence did sound a bit creepy. But it recalled Hermione's name. I also clearly remember Apparatinf back to The Burrow. That must've been when I woke up, I thought. I took a deep breath and tried to look normal. But everything inside of me was churning in nervousness and hesitation. What if I let Luna down? What if I'm not able to stop Ginny? Why did I have that weird vision? What's that chant meant to mean? So many questions circled my head, over and over again. I held my breath, picked up my foot and carefully stepped quietly forwards. Nothing happened. I let out my breath, which, I didn't realise I was actually holding. I quietly walked over to where I last remember seeing Hermione in the vision I had. I stopped. This was where I last remember her being. Wait, hang on, what was that? Was that a whimper? I frowned suspiciously and checked behind one of the bookshelves. Nothing. I checked the next one. Nothing. Third time's a charm. I shrugged my shoulders and held my breath. I squeezed my eyes shut and opened them again. I peeked over the bookcase quietly and let out my breath. I could see a silhouette, I think it was a girl because it had a slim figure. I slipped over to where she was sitting and sat down next to her.
"Hey, are you okay?" I asked softly.
The girl lifted her head.
"Hermione? What are you doing here? You do know you're in the restricted area right?"
"Harry! Bu-but how are you here-," she frowned and pointed in front of her, and then to me.
"I don't know, something weird happened. It was kind of like being possessed. Come on, let's get you out of here and find Ron," I dried her eyes and pulled her up.
"Okay," she said quietly.
"Anyway, why were you crying?" I asked her straight on.
"I was scared something had happened to you. You were acting all strange, almost evil."
"Yeah I know, it was strange," I agreed.
"You said a chant. Something like a great snake and bring many? I don't know, I can't remember," she sighed.
That's not like Hermione at all, usually she would remember something like that. After all, she was most of the brains when we went to find the Horcrux's.
"Oh come, great snake, and bring your many. Oh come, great snake, and kill at any. Was that it?"
"Yes!! Wait, follow me!" she called as she hurried out of the restricted area.
As we were running out, we crashed into a red haired boy.
"Ron! Come with us!" she yelled and kept running.
"What? Hermione? Harry? What's going on!?" he asked frantically.
"I don't know, but Hermione's got something. Come on!" I yelled back.
The three of us were running, in the library, trying to swerve and dodge other people. Out of breath,a Hermione stopped and grabbed a book off the shelf. We were in the dead centre of the library. She flipped through all the pages until she came to the second last chapter.
"Chants, chants are used to summon something or cast a spell without a wand," she read aloud.
She frowned and skipped a paragraph.
"Some chants are old and evil. They have very limited amount of magic contained in them but are very powerful. Here are some old chants known to summon things."
She ran her finger down the list until she found the one I had announced.
"This chant was used long ago to summon a basilisk family. It was used by You Know Who and has never been used since. The basilisk family is still most likely alive, and under the correct words, you can control it. It will kill anything that gets in it's way and will protect the controller."
"So that means, I was summoning a basilisk?" I panicked.
"What? Harry, you defeated the deadliest wizard known in time, and yet you summon a basilisk?" Ron shouted.
"Not just one, a whole family," Hermione corrected.
"Even worse!"
"I-I didn't know," I stammered.
"The basilisk will only obey Harry and it will protect him if we hurt him," she stated factually.
"So, that means, if we hurt Harry, it's over for us."
