Chapter 26 • You

The electricity coursed through my body, scorching every nerve.  A wave of pain slapped me in the face, making my vision go red.  I thrashed against the chains suspending me, anything to make the burning stop.  "Augh!"

Bill casually lifted his finger in the air, stopping the electrocution momentarily.  My singed hair and clothing left a thin trail of smoke in the air, making it even harder than usual to breathe.  I hung my head in exhaustion, but managed to give my equilateral jailer a deathly glare.

"Y/N!" Stanford cried from the other side of Bill's palace.  He struggled against his own otherworldly chains, but it was no use.

I grit my teeth.  "I'm fine, Stanford.  Stop watching it happen, you're only hurting yourself."

"But-"

"Ready to talk now?"  The triangle interrupted smugly.  "I see your fiancé is concerned with your health. It's quite simple, really. All you need to do is say the word."

Some of the smoke sneaked into my failing lungs, making me try and stifle a cough. It didn't work, and soon I was hacking blood into my mechanical hand. I took a shuddering breath, struggling to find clean air. "I won't. I won't let you into my mind."

"Is that so? If you're being so stubborn, maybe I should try a different approach..."

My outline turned scarlet as he froze my body, making it impossible to move. In a movement that seemed almost bored, he gave a dismissive wave and disconnected my prosthetic hand.

"No! NO!" I screamed, desperately trying to break free of his control. "You can't do this!"

"Bill, this is going too far!" Stanford yelled from his spot on the wall.

"Do you really think so?" He snapped his fingers, and in less than a second, Stanford was swallowed by the golden coating once again.

"Let him go! It's me you want, not him!"

Bill pretended to consider. "You see, the problem with that plan is, Fordsie still has his uses. It'd be a real shame to give him up now, the party's just started."

He levitated my metallic hand in front of my face, the entire thing glowing a dark red. "Y/N, this is what happens to people who don't do as I say." His open hand clenched into a fist, and as I watched, my hand, my own limb, folded in on itself , crunching like a crushed soda can. It fell to the ground below with a crash, crumpled and ruined.

I shut my eyes tight and grimaced, digging my nails into my palm.  He had destroyed a part of me so effortlessly, and I knew he wouldn't hesitate to do it to the rest of me if not for the equation.  I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of seeing me cry.

"Ah, Y/N, don't you see I've already won?  Your home is in flames, your boyfriend is a harmless gold statue, and you've lost your hand.  You have nothing left to lose.  Give me the formula."

Beaten and bloody, being electrocuted and tortured, I started to laugh. I laughed and laughed until my sides hurt and I ran out of air. "Oh Bill, you may be a dream demon able to control time and space, but somehow I still have the power here. And my answer is still no. I'll never tell you, so long as I live."

Bill seemed shocked to his core, but regained his composure. "What a noble speech there. How cute." He held a pure black finger in the air, charging yet another agonizing ball of electricity. "What do you think, pals, another five hundred volts?"

I winced and prepared for the worst, but suddenly a crash shook the entire Fearamid. Cautiously, I opened my eyes to see a living Tyrannosaurs Rex head punch straight through the walls.

"What?! I just fixed that door!" He complained.

The dinosaur retreated, showing its true form: a ragtag gigantic robot of death. I blinked to make sure I was seeing this right.

Bill looked ticked off, but not intimidated. "So the mortals are trying to fight back, huh? Adorable! Henchmaniacs, you know what to do! Take them out!"

Without question or hesitation, his minions jumped out of his castle and grew into horrendous giants, so terrible they were the backbone of all nightmares. All at once, they threw themselves at the Shack-Tron, determined to bring it down. But surprisingly, the robot had the upper hand, flinging the demons back as if they were rag dolls. Before too long, the Shack was proven victorious, leaving his minions bruised and defeated.

Cipher squinted in disappointment. "Guys, seriously? You had, like, one job to do here."

I couldn't help but grin. "Bravo, Dipper and Mabel!"

The demon gave me a sideways glance. "Well, would you look at that. Those kids really care about you. And you care about them. Don't you?"

Confused, I stuttered, "What are you....Oh. Oh no."

"Perhaps torturing those kids'll make you talk."

"No. No! Not the kids! You ca-"

"Let's get this over with." He waved his hand, and the gold spread over my form once more.
