The week passes by much quicker than I expected.

After finishing up classes, I head with Beomgyu to the studio. I watch as he records his vocals for their upcoming album, which I learn is called The Dream Chapter: Magic. I feel like the luckiest fan alive for being able to witness the creation of such beautiful songs. Sometimes, I run into the other TXT members, and the interactions I have with them are nothing but positive.

On Friday night, it's time for the farewell ceremony for the summer session of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. We gather in a large room in one of the campus' buildings. I sit next to Beomgyu as videos begin to play in succession—showing off all the memories we've made as students in Korea. I see myself at the mud festival, dancing my ass off to EDM and K-pop. I see Beomgyu and the other members of TXT grilling clams at the seafood restaurant. Then, there is a segment of us at Everland and staying at the Hanok Village. Combined with a mishmash of dance music and fanciful editing, the program seems like it sponsored the greatest summer adventure in this entire century.

The "Student of the Summer" is given as an award to a student from Luxembourg, who somehow managed to ace four classes and attend all the field trips. She receives the plaque with tears, and I laugh when Yeonjun stands up and cheers loudly—like the girl is his long lost sibling.

Just when I think the ceremony is ending, Beomgyu gets up beside me. He tugs on my hand.

Mrs. Jo flashes us a discreet smile before announcing, "Now, Jayden and Beomgyu have a special performance that they'd like to share with all of you."

Panic rushes up from my toes all the way to the tip of my ears. I wasn't given any warning about this so-called "performance." I want to glue my butt to the seat so I don't have to get up. But the cheers are loud and convincing, and soon I'm following Beomgyu to the stage. Shivers attach to my bones, and a sweat breaks out on the nape of my neck.

"They wrote a special song during this summer session," says Mrs. Jo. "I'll let them take it away."

I somehow manage to hold onto a microphone. Beomgyu gives me an encouraging smile, and he nods at me like I hold the secret to overcoming all my fears.

Oh, whatever. This is one of the last memories I'll share with Beomgyu. I might as well make the most of it.

So when the track comes out with our song, I sing with all my might. I harmonize with Beomgyu as he takes the melody, and I make sure to face my body to the audience and channel all the showmanship I've gained by watching TXT. The lyrics about finding and keeping a first love make me emotional.

And it's not because I'm thinking about my ex. I'm thinking of Beomgyu for the whole time, about how he's made this summer into a healing time for me. He's given me so much, and I may have fallen in love. But I save my tears for later.

When the song is finished, the room erupts in cheers. I stare Beomgyu in his eyes. He gives me another nod of approval. It's like I've made him proud in some way.

My voice was small compared to his, but it carried enough weight to be heard.

It's almost an encapsulation of this entire school session. He's been the main character. I've been his sidekick who got to be his friend for a chosen time period. I've harmonized to the tune of his summer, and now it's almost time for the song to end.

I take in all the energy of the room, returning a huge smile to Beomgyu and the crowd. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
