The Library
"Come on." Lucas grabbed Aurelia's hand. They had just finished breakfast.
"Where are we going?" Aurelia wondered.
Lucas smiled. "You'll see." He said dragging her from the dining hall.
King Letholdus watched them leave with an odd and curious look on his face. He smiled as an idea invaded his mind, an incredibly rare event.
The two young adults dashed down the hallway. They rounded a corner and hopped up multiple flights of stairs before rounding another corner in the opposite direction. Aurelia seemed to continue to forget her problems when she was with him. She laughed as they slid down the hallway.
The upstairs corridors were full of light, unlike the slightly darker downstairs. They were on the top floor of the castle. Large decorative windows let a gorgeous blue-white light filter through showing off the sky. The walls were a golden-brown color matching the downstairs and the floor was the color of concord ivory.
"Where are we headed, Luke?" Aurelia wondered. Lucas raised an eyebrow at her, smiling slightly.
"Luke?"
"Yeah I," Aurelia blushed and looked down, slowing her pace. "It's a nickname. Do you not like it?"
Lucas smiled. "No it's fine. You merely caught me off guard."
Aurelia smirked. "I could always call you Lucy."
Lucas glared at her in a teasing manner. "Don't you dare."
"I won't... Lucy." Aurelia laughed.
Lucas rolled his eyes. They came to a large set of arched French doors. They were a similar golden brown as the wall, but they seemed to have more gold in them. Lucas smiled a pushed the doors open.
Aurelia's green eyes lit up when she saw it. It was a gorgeous library. Shelves and shelves of books filled the library. In the middle of the library was a few tables and comfortable red armchairs to sit at. There was a set of glass doors that led outside to a large balcony that overlooked the kingdom.
"Wow," Aurelia muttered, awestruck. A light seemed to shine in her eyes that she thought had dimmed years ago.
"Is it amazing?" Lucas wondered. "This is my favorite place in the whole castle. Most of the nobles don't seem to fancy reading as much as I do though, because it's normally empty, but I love it here. Come on." Lucas invited Aurelia to the glass doors.
Aurelia followed him out onto the balcony. A fresh summer breeze blew balancing out the sun's rays, creating the perfect temperature. Aurelia looked out past the white railing. The view was amazing. You could see for miles.
The light in Aurelia's eyes seemed to dim slightly as she looked down. They were on the top floor. It was a long way down. Sure the view was gorgeous, but it was a very long way down. She turned her back on the railing and gripped it tightly.
"Are you okay?" Lucas asked.
"I'm fine. It's just... We're really high up and- and I'm not a big fan of heights." Aurelia admitted.
"Let's go back inside then." Lucas suggested.
