10. My Explanation to Link and Aryll

Chapter 10: My Explanation to Link and Aryll

Vaati

I poured myself some tea as Link and Aryll sat down across from me. We were in the living room, with Lexy standing off to one side, Shadow sitting on the ground, and Ghirahim floating above the television, attempting to distract us with his powers. After several awkward seconds, Aryll asked, "Aren't you going to pour us some tea? I'm thirsty."

"I'm not your butler or servant," I replied before taking a sip of my cup.

"That's cruel," she said as she crossed her arms and stuck her tongue at me.

"He's only our butler when people visit," Link said as he poured the tea for himself and his sister. "Other than that, he's a..." He looked to me, silently asking for a word to describe myself, but I didn't respond.

"A weirdo?" Shadow said.

"Moocher?" Lexy asked as she shot me a glance. I wondered if she was teasing me, but Lexy had a point. I've been here for a while without their permission, and I've kinda been using their resources for my own use...

"A permanent resident and a valued friend," Link said after a few seconds of deep thought. "Honestly, I think it's fine that Vaati and Shadow are here, as they know how to behave and easy to get along with." Link shot a glance at Ghirahim. I was surprised that Link said that, considering that we were enemies several months ago, and he has no clue at what I really do.

"I can hear you," Ghirahim declared when Link stopped looking at him.

"And I see dead people," Shadow replied. "Now, do you have any questions, Link and Aryll? It's Q & A with Vaati the Great!"

"Shadow?" I asked.

"Yeah?"

"Just shut up."

"Who's that?" Aryll pointed at Lexy.

"That's Lexy, an alien and one of my lieutenants."

"Come again?" Link asked.

"She's not from Hyrule... Or from this dimension. She's from Earth, and she accidentally came here via a portal Ganondorf made, when Ganondorf was hoping to conquer another world."

"And I kicked his ass." Lexy declared.

"More like shot him in the face with a rifle," Shadow muttered.

"Did he die?" Link asked.

"This is Ganondorf we're talking about," Ghirahim said. "So no."

"How did you meet her?" Link asked.

I sighed. "This is going to take a while to explain." I cleared my throat and began to speak. "A few years ago, I was your typical villain, but I wanted to do something good for Hyrule, as I'm not truly evil."

"Noted," Link whispered. Shadow quietly scoffed when I mentioned "typical villain", but I didn't respond.

"Anyhow, after Lexy came and shot Ganondorf three years ago, he locked her in the dungeon because she attacked him and made his plan fail. I freed her when he was asleep, and led her to a safe area. After a year of rescuing people and hiding them in different locations, we formed an agency that monitors Hyrule and we make sure that most of the issues in Hyrule are dealt with before they appear or become major."

"What if they become major?" Aryll asked.

"Then we leave it to the knights of Hyrule. Or Link," I replied.

"Thanks for making me feel special," Link muttered.

"Any other questions?" I asked.

The doorbell rang, so I didn't know anything else that was going to be asked.

Lexy began walking to the front to answer it when she asked, "Can I shoot whoever's at the door if they're evil or annoying?"

"No," Link, Shadow, and I said simultaneously.

"Buzzkills," she muttered as she left the room. We all waited quietly as she opened the door. She slammed it shut and returned to the living room, where she proceeded to chuck a newspaper at my head. I caught it and opened it.

"You missed," Shadow teased.

"I know," she muttered.

"You suck at aiming for a sniper."

"Throwing stuff isn't the same as sniping. And Vaati caught it."

"You are SO predictable," he taunted.

"I am SO getting you later," she replied to Shadow.

"Shut up," I growled at them without looking up. "Or I'll kick you out of the room and put you in solitary." Those two always gave me gray hairs when they began their petty arguments, and this I have to keep them far apart so I don't snap and yell at them.

"Are they always like this?" Link asked as he got up.

"Yep."

"How do you not throw them out?"

"He's late," I muttered, completely disregarding Link's question.

"What?"

"He was suppose to be here a day ago," I sighed. I showed Link the article I was looking at. It mentioned someone in a Sheikah outfit stopping an attack on Kakariko Village that occurred yesterday.

"So?" Link asked. "Who's late?"

Before I could respond to Link, a Crack! was heard and two people teleported in front of me. Link stepped back a bit when he saw this, Aryll fell onto the couch, Ghirahim fell and crashed onto the ground, I said nothing, Shadow raised his eyebrow, and Lexy went to go fist bump one of them.

"What up Sheik?" Lexy asked.

"I got stuck fighting in a field," he replied. "And then She joined me as she was done with her assignment." He pointed to his companion.

"Is that why you're late?" I asked as I grabbed the papers from their hands.

"Yes," she replied.

"Sheik? You mean like the guy whom Zelda pretended to be once to hide herself?" Aryll asked.

Sheik nodded. "I am the boy whom Impa used as a reference to hide Zelda. While she pretended to be me, I was actually training in the mountains."

"Cool!" Aryll said.

"Not cool!" Link replied angrily. "We have way too many people appearing here! And who is that?" He pointed to the girl next to Sheik. She had long black hair with red streaks in it, black eyes, and wore a long black overcoat over red clothing. She also carried a book in one hand and had the Japanese symbol for "Lieutenant" on her left arm.

I nodded to her and looked at Link and Aryll. "Link, Aryll, this Alicia de Nyx, a dark mage and another lieutenant of mine. Alicia, this is Link and Aryll."

"How many lieutenants do you have?" Link looked angry and bewildered, and I can't say that I blame him. I DID just move in here and do random things, so it was my fault. And my lieutenants probably want to crash here for a bit, which might get frustrating after a while... Especially if you deal with Lexy for more than an hour...

"I have four lieutenants: Shadow, Lexy, Sheik, and Alicia."

"Then what's Ghirahim in this system?" Aryll asked. "A leader?"

"Moocher," Lexy said with a smirk. "He just hangs around, not doing anything."

Link looked upset at the turn of events and how we were ignoring his anger, so he stormed out of the room angrily, slamming the door behind him.

"Is he okay?" Aryll asked, clearly concerned for her brother.

"I think," Shadow mused, "that the frustration of having multiple people you don't know and/or hate is finally getting to him, so he probably went to cool down to prevent himself from killing us. Or Ghirahim. He might storm out of the place too."

"I'll get him," Lexy declared as she opened the door and dashed after Link. After a few seconds, we heard Link yelp in surprise and start yelling loudly at Lexy. She returned with a flailing Link hoisted over her shoulder. She waved at us and dropped Link on the ground.

"I didn't say you could go retrieve him," I muttered.

"What was that for?" Link asked angrily.

"I felt like doing that," she responded.

"Lord Link? Lady Aryll?" Alicia asked, interrupting the conversation, breaking the building tension in the room, and scaring the hell out of all of us as we forgot that she was there. "May Sheik, Lexy, and I move into the mansion?"

"Why?" Link asked, suspicious of her motives.

"Because we finished our assignments and want to stay near our boss in case we get another one. If we stay, then we could help clean the place, train with you, keep an eye on things if you have to leave the mansion suddenly, defend the place if necessary, protect you when you travel, pretend to be your servants to avoid hiring real ones, be your allies for dances or events, you can send us to do different missions, and we can lock Ghirahim in the attic if you want when we're not busy. Plus, I could keep on an eye on Aryll if she goes shopping, Lexy can hunt and be a sniper, and Sheik can play music."

"WHY IS EVERYONE AGAINST ME?!" Ghirahim cried in annoyance as he glared at me. I ignored him and looked at Link and Aryll, waiting for their response.

"That does sound good," Aryll mused mischievously.

"Okay," Link shrugged after several awkward seconds. "As long as you behave and don't do anything stupid, you can stay here."

Alicia, Sheik, and Lexy nodded and bowed to show respect. I sighed in relief. At least this obstacle was done. The only thing left was to hope that Link and Aryll don't change their minds...
