Unexpected, Venti
Venti x Reader
Angst TW
Y/N was getting pretty close with a young man named Venti. He had dark hair and beautiful eyes. He always had something to say, and never left her unintertained. Tonight she and Venti were sitting together at Windrise, under the night sky. Y/N was leaning against the tree, facing the dark waters that held the reflection of the moon in its vast body.
Venti, to her right a little away, had one heel up pressed against the bark, and he too leaned back on the tree. The only noises audible were the quiet whispers of their voices and the wind, humming ominously. *Voooom...* She was speaking about her day, her travelers dress blowing slightly with the breeze and same with her hair, and his hair. She noticed that he looked darker this night, quiet and concerned perhaps, but it was just a thought she had.
"Say Venti?" She questions the handsome boy and steps closer to him. He looks her way and the wind lightly blows her hair back, her neck becoming exposed. His eyes widened as she looked to him silently. He tightens his fist then loosens it, trying to steadily breath and clear his mind. His thoughts were racing and he couldn't stop himself from taking a step forward. The blades of grass crumbled to the ground, while others brushed against his ankle at his step.
"Y/N..." He could hardly say as he brings his hand to her jaw, fingers caressing her cheek.
"Please... forgive me for this." He says in a soft and troubled voice, as if he was in agony. She had no time for her curiosity as a second passed and he was leaned in, his teeth against her neck. There in the illuminating moonlight, he bit her neck, sucking her blood out of her.
"Huaaahh!!!" She cried out in pain desperately trying to move, but the shock prohibited her from doing so. Luckily for Y/N, her scream brought Venti back to reality, and he instantly pulled away.
"Y/N, I'm... so sorry!"
Blurry. Her vision was going in and out as she watched her own blood drip down from his mouth and he wipes it away with his wrist. She places her hand over her wound before she feels herself give out, and she shuts her eyes as she collapses to the ground.
Venti watches wide eyed, then he quickly bends down beside her and scoops her up in his arms. Through the dark night sky he carries her to her home. Once he arrived he carefully set her down on the sofa and gently cleaned her wound, bandaging it up. Then the dark haired boy left...
*Tweet Tweet!*
The birds and blinding sun woke Y/N up and she groggily rubs her eyes then sits up.
A nightmare? She thinks to herself, but a sense of doom fills her up when she feels the bandages around her neck. She quickly knows it wasn't a nightmare, but a dark reality. She gets up and runs over to the mirror, eyes a little wide when she sees that the blood had leaked through, leaving a red mark on the clear white. She feels a little queasy, but still gets herself to undue the bandaging. There it was: two scabs on her neck, one atop the other. She carefully grazes her fingers over them and shivers, the horrors of yesterday night haunting her mind. She couldn't grip it, couldn't understand how it happened at all.
One thing was for sure, Y/N never wanted to see Venti again, and was terrified of the chances that she would. The only thing he left behind was the two wounds and a little note taped to the door that said in gorgeous flowy letters, "I'm sorry".
Y/N went out day after day, cautious and anxious, but soon she came to the conclusion that she no longer had to be afraid. She hadn't seen Venti in three months. Gone. Like he had vanished. Her curiosity was killing her, and when she asked people if they had seen him around they all said the same thing.
"Nope, haven't seen him." She even asked Diluc at the tavern one day.
"That bard hasn't been around for some time." He said. Y/N knew that there was no way of knowing what happened.
"Oh, I see..." She had said and left, starting to doubt her memory if he ever even existed. They had been friends, she thought, for some time. Then as they grew older she started to have feelings for him. Just when they were getting close, he did that to her. As if saying, "This is who I am. Don't get involved with me." What had she done to make him feel like that.
Her life went on as usual, another two months had passed, and now she hardly thought about him. Jean had a party thrown for her, a celebration for all her hard work as acting grandmaster, and Y/N had been invited to celebrate. She had a blast, laughing and stories and boardgames, everyone she loved was there.
"You sure you don't need a ride?" Jean called from her door.
"I'm sure!" Y/N confirmed then waved her hand goodbye with a smile. It was 8:48pm, the sun was going down and she began her walk home. As she traveled the sky got dimmer and the orange tint faded away into the dark blue sky. She walks in silence through the grass that goes along a river, every now and then looking to the pretty yet gloomy water. Then suddenly something catches her eye in the reflection of the water. She does a double take, and freezes. She is not the only one looking into the reflection. Quickly she whips around, looking to the direction she was coming from. Her heart is pounding and her mind racing. There he stood, a little away but not too far, grassy hills surrounding the two of them, even on the other side of the river. The greenish blue clothes he wore, and the white too, all seemed to have a glow about them in the moonlight.
I... I wasn't ready for this...! I...! Her mind screamed, and the fight instinct took over, proof that she had changed since the last time.
"Ve-Venti??!" She stared at him in disbelief. It was him. But it wasn't. Everything about him was different.
"Y/N." He answered. Terror gripped her, she hated him in this moment, and her anger consumed her.
"Where... Where the hell were you?!" He only looked at her with a hurt expression. That made her even more upset.
"These past 5 months I had been wondering if it was real or not, but what made me sure of this nightmare is what you left me with!" She pointed to her neck. He took a step closer and she one back. It crushed him, and though he felt like dying he had enough will and longing in him to try and explain.
"Y/N, I tried to resist, I really did!" He says in desperation.
"What you tried to resist? So you're just an uncontrollable monster?! A cannibal? I really didn't think vampires existed but it seems I had to suffer and meet one. Now he's come after me, are you here to bite me again?... Huh?!" She yells, tears pricking her eyes from the despise she felt, and the unstoppable fear, that if he could hurt her before, he could do it again. Venti was frozen in shock, he looked like he gad been shot, and the face of agony was the last expression to live.
"I wasn't always like this...!" He cried.
"I don't care, you are now. Stay away from me!" She shouted, her hands in shaky fists, and as she looked at his tired complexion she felt even more hurt. The boy she had loved. Yet she was too angry to let her love for him show through. She felt like she was being ripped apart, the conflicting parts all pulling at her. She didn't realise that the impact of just seeing him would be so strong, and feelings she never felt before and never addressed cane to the surface. She felt so betrayed, so misused and vulnerable. Venti saw her pain as well, he wanted all of it to go away. He so desperately longed to have the conflict between them forgotten, all he wanted was to be close to her, to be united. Not a day went by without him sufering from guilt, the memory all too familiar.
"Y/N, please forgive me, I never meant to hurt you." He pleaded.
"I..." She couldn't find any words for him. She was too much a mess on the inside.
"I'll need more time..." She says trying her best to hold back tears, and Venti nods, unable to speak for fear that his voice would quiver, as he too was also holding back tears. She only spared time to look at him a second longer before running off. Once she got home she laid in bed thinking about it all night.
Two days had passed and she went out to get bread, when she saw Venti in the town. She came to an aggressive stop, eyes wide. He's back?! Not now...! She thought to herself and turned around quickly, deciding she didn't need to get bread at that very moment. Why is he... Grr! She was very upset over his sudden appearance in Mondstat. She kept walking and she didn't think he saw her. But suddenly she felt a tap on her shoulder coming from the right of her and a voice saying, "Y/N?" Only he could make her feel so odd about her own name, the way his voice made it feel different, the way it was coming out of his mouth specifically. She quickly turned to him and hit off his hand. She tries to neglect him and walk away but when he says, "Wait-" her itching curiosity to know what's going on fully keeps her there. So she turns to look at him.
"What do you want?" She asks coldly, but in a hush voice. When her eyes really fall upon him, in broad daylight, being much closer to him then two nights ago, a silent shock takes over her. She realised the extent of his unwellness. Who did this to him? She thought, not just his sickly appearance, but who did any of it to him. He had a cut near his mouth, he looked exhausted, dark bags under his eyes, and overall thinner. Somehow he was still beautiful to her. She hated herself for thinking that.
"Y/N, I've changed myself for you. I really have been trying. I went against all my hungry urges for blood during those months." He said, looking in her eyes, feeling silly for hoping she will accept him even as a beast. She watched him tremble while he spoke and she knew this was killing him, disturbance taking over her. No one was born to be a monster. This should have never happened to him. A wave of sorrow and pity hit her, as she saw the boy she grew up with suffer so.
"Venti..." She muttered, not knowing how to form words. He only hoped to listen to her, not expecting any change, but allowing a moment of satisfaction to take over as he heard her speak.
"I'm afraid... I'm afraid that you'll..." She didn't want to say it.
"What if you bite me again...? I just don't know if I can do it." She confesses. The trauma haunted her mind.
"I won't bite you, Y/N... I ripped out my canine teeth." He said in an oddly serious voice which scared her. Her eyes were wide and her mind numb.
"What?..." She could only utter. Venti looked at her a second longer before nodding. A horrible sensation filled her chest.
"You what?! Venti, y-you can't do that to yourself!" She says staggering. How could he do that to himself?...
"Show me..." She says absent-minded. All she wanted to know was what more he has done to himself. He silently opens his mouth and his finger lifts his lip up slightly. His gums are all that Y/N is met with, where his canine teeth should be.
"Oh my gosh... Venti..." She says in disbelief.
"I'm sorry Y/N. Please forgive me. Please forgive me Y/N. I can't bear to not have you apart of my life. You mean so much to me." He says, aching for her approval. She looked down, hot sun brushing against her flesh. She wondered if it hurt him.
"Let's... talk about this somewhere else, okay?..." She suggests.
"Okay..." He says, and inside he wonders if he is never going to see her again after this day.
They walked to his place and when she entered it was yet another thing to be disturbed about. The house was a mess, the counter was pilled with empty wine bottles and there where empty food bags around, the table and other surfaces had partially eaten food on it, as if he had only been able to eat the scraps. The entire house was cluttered. He took off his cape, left in his blouse and shorts. He didn't wear his corset and Y/N thought she knew why. He was so skinny. She silently looked at him, horrified at his malnourishment. His hair was messier than usual, but nothing was messier than his house. He watched her look at him, and listened when she spoke.
"Venti... you need your teeth back. You're starving..." She voiced the dark truth. She didn't know that Venti spent many nights puking up food, as his new craving was the only thing tolerable for him to digest.
"I can never get them back. I don't want to ever bite someone again." He says.
"You'd never trust me..." He adds quietly. He would go to such lengths for me?? She thinks to herself.
"I just want to go back in time..." He starts.
"And redo everything... I wasn't ever enough for you before I turned... and now I don't even deserve to have you look upon me." He says sadly, looking at Y/N as his broken heart speaks for him.
"I was never to be with you... Y/N." Y/N widens her eyes as he says this and she feels her own heart break. She knew she had been falling in love with him.
"Don't say this..." She lets out.
"It's true, Y/N. I'm just a bum, hardly making enough money to live off of, and you're practically a saint... no, a goddess. You're perfect, Y/N." He confesses. They had never brought their feelings up until now. When they were hardly the same anymore. She feels her heart flutter, but in a painful way.
"Venti." She says. Hearing her voice his name fills him with warmth, that his shell of a body lacks, but he knows he doesn't deserve it.
"What was I even thinking? I'm sorry I ever did this to you." He apologizes, looking to her with slight tears in his eyes. She takes a step closer to him.
"Stop. Stop it. Don't talk to about yourself this way. Okay? Stop." She says to the boy who refuses to look at her.
"Venti, we need to get your teeth back. This way you could drink animal blood... I can't see you like this." She gestures to him, and she so desperately wishes he would look up at her again. Instead he sniffles a little.
"No..." He whimpers. Her eyes are wide as she fixes them on him, and a quick clarity and firmness takes her. When she met him he was so lively and happy, always singing, always laughing. Now he's standing centimeters away from her, looking to the side, not to her, with tears in his eyes, as his fragile body seems to cave in on itself, trembling ever so often. She loves this boy. She doesn't care about his living status.
"Venti I don't care! You're enough! I forgive you...! Look at me." She says and places her hands on his shoulders. He looks at her, not daring to disobey, and when they make eye contact he is overflowed with emotion, and she is too. He blushes as tears fall down his face, and tears come to her eyes as well.
"Venti, I love you just as you are. Okay?" Her voice cracks and he nods quickly after a delay, and sobs slightly.
"R... really?" She could hear the disbelief in his voice and she nods her head.
"Yes, really." She embraces him, holding him close against her body as he hesitantly wraps his arms around her, resting his head against her with silent tears.
"I've loved you for a long time." She says with a smile as the tears have now finally shed on her behalf. They were finally together. Neither of them wanted to be fighting, it happened because the trust was broken. They so desperatly wanted to be forgiven, wanted to be accepted and loved by one another.
So they went on together, making it work out. Getting Venti his life back, and repairing their relationship and the wrongs that had been done. They were so in love, they just hadn't noticed it back then.
