Chapter 2 Natalie You Are Back!

Natalie rests on the long train ride back to Paris. She has no idea what awaits her when she arrives there.

Gabriel refuses to eat, sleep, leave the house, or do anything else.

Marinette does not know what to do. Her husband suggests she be patient with her father-in-law. She thinks some things are easier said than done.

Adrien wishes his father would quit wallowing in self-pity.

     Gabriel's  POV:

He believes everyone hates him, yet he shoves them away from him. He is a Scrooge these days.

   Marinette's  POV:

She thinks it is time for her father-in-law to admit he has problems. She cannot stand to watch him waste his life away like this. She believes his behavior is rude, selfish, and immature. She expects more from him because he is older than her and a grown man for crying out loud.

 Adrien's POV:

He wishes for his father's stubbornness to stop.  He loves his dad, but he also loves his wife. He hates the fact his father makes her cry.   Somehow, he believes his father is beyond hope.

  Natalie's POV:

Someone touches her shoulder, so she looks up startled. She wonders who it could be and realizes it is the conductor. She laughs from embarrassment as she exits the train. She pays a cab driver and gives him instructions. She pays him a good tip when he drops her off at the Agreste's mansion. She nervously rings the doorbell unaware what awaits her inside the house.

    Adrien's POV:

He hears the doorbell ring. He goes to answer it, but Marinette beats him to it. He hears her greet the visitor as if she knows them.  His jaw drops when he sees who she speaks too.

"Natalie, you are back!" Adrien says.

"Yes, I just got in today,"  Natalie says.

"It is good to see you," Marinette says.

"It is great to see you, too," Natalie remarks.

"My wife and I hope you did have a safe journey here," Adrien says.

"I sure did Adrien.  Congratulations on your marriage." Natalie tells them.

     "Thank you, Natalie," Marinette says.

 Gabriel's POV:

He hears all the commotion and grumbles to himself.  It is not like anything special happens around here anyway.

  Natalie's POV:

She decides to speak to Gabriel even though she is not sure he wishes to see her.

"Natalie, he is in his study as usual." Marinette remarks.

"Then, I shall see him there," Natalie says.

Natalie walks away and Adrien shakes his head at her. Marinette stands there to taken aback to argue.

     "Hello, Gabriel," Natalie says.

"Put the tea on the desk, and get out," Gabriel says. He does not look up when he speaks to her.

"Gabe, you must have me mistaken for someone else," Natalie says.

"Natalie, is it you?" Gabriel blurts out.

"Yes, who else would I be?" Natalie replies.

     Natalie gasps.

"Gabriel, what have you done to yourself?" Natalie asks.

"Do not tell me you came to lecture me too," Gabriel says.

"Look, I am not here to argue," Natalie says.

"Why did you return?"  Gabriel asks.

"I am here because we all worry about you,"  Natalie says. She sees him rolls his eyes at her.  She thinks, there is the Gabriel I remember.

The story continues in Chapter  3  Road to Recovery?
