14) Hero Visits

"Okay, you gremlins. Since we finished the book, and I don't want to grade full blown essays, your job is to pick an excerpt from the journal and try to pick out at least three symbols and then explain what they could mean. If you turn anything over a page and a half, I'm giving it back to you." He turned his gaze back to Glasses Reincarnate as if to solidify his words. The teen slumped, seemingly looking defeated as Bakugo gave more detail to the writing exercise.

Double spaced, type twelve font in Times New Roman. Typed.

Three fourths the class cheered at the small assignment, especially so after Bakugo said they would get class time to work on it.

"Also, another thing. In a few days, about twenty pro-heros will be in the classroom, and they will be here to answer questions and help train one-on-one. After you have a chance to talk to them and get to know them, we will all go to Ground Beta for training. Now, you all will be paired with quite a few heroes based on Quirks, and how to train them." Bakugo could feel Bleach slide down a tad bit in his seat, looking somewhat upset. "If you don't have a quirk, the same principle applies." He adds on, watching as Bleach perks up slightly from the corner of his eye.

"Yeah, I think that's about it. If you have questions, write them down on a post-it or something and tape it to the board and I'll answer them tomorrow. Right now, work on your writing work, questions, or any other work you need or want to do. If you want to train, ask me for permission and I'll send a group to the gym. Now work, little gremlins." A couple teens chuckled at the name, but otherwise the class started working silently.

The days passed quickly, and eventually the previous Class 1-A students found themselves wandering the halls to their old classroom.

Kaminari, Sero, Uraraka, and Todoroki were side by side in the hall, walking together. The first three were practically skipping in excitement. Iida was speaking with Shinso and Tsu, the three discussing the future of heroics as a whole--how UA was pushing against discrimination of all quirks.

Shoji and Koda were signing to each other as they walked, enjoying their small conversations.

Eventually the group turned the corner, only for Momo to gasp and Kirishima to let out a very manly exhale.

The group found themselves practically rushing at the blonde adult that was a couple feet away form the Class 1-A door. Red eyes snapped up at them, analyzing the whole group. A small, forced smile began to take up a bit of his face before it was wiped off as quickly as it came.

He didn't want to force a smile, because even the concept of doing so felt too familiar for comfort.

A wide grin spread across the greenette's face as he bounded towards the class. He had just gotten the okay from Recovery Girl to participate in "light" training exercises. But if the bandages plastered all over his arms and left leg were anything to go by, the teen had to be in a lot of pain.

And yet he smiled as he reached the group.

Bakugo was the first to notice the teen. "Stop it." He said gruffly.

A confused look took over Midoriya's face. "Stop what, Kacchan?" He asked, eyes wide.

Once he spoke, a few more members of the class turned to check in on the freckled teen. If they said anything to him, Midoriya didn't hear. His gaze was solely on his childhood friend.

Putting on an annoyed front, Bakugo only responded with one word. "Lying."

Midoriya jolted, the answer stopping him in his tracks immediately. Then, and only then did his smile falter ever so slightly. Yet no one noticed the waver. And Midoriya kept up his smile..

Bakugo blanched, the vivid memory springing forth newer, unwanted events. Moments of bullying, of training, of rescuing…

Bakugo felt his eyes sting with unshed tears, and yet he found willpower within himself to hold them at bay. He had only ever felt safe to cry around one person…

And that person wasn't there.

So as his class further advanced, he bit his lip in a fast attempt to regain control of his emotions.

"Bakubabe!" Mina ran forward, crashing into the blonde's chest, wrapping her arms around him in an embrace. Bakugo found himself patting her on the back to calm her borderline hysterical laughter.

He saw as Kirishima and Tsu approached, followed closely by Iida, Todoroki, and Koda.

A couple minutes pass of greeting the class member they hadn't seen in years. And it would have taken longer until Bakugo realized where they were and why they were here.

"The class is inside," his voice cut through the sounds like a blade, killing the conversations around him. "They are looking forward to you all. Seventeen of them. I told them that they can ask you questions, so everyone go to your old desks and then speak to that person for a minute, then walk to a new desk and speak to the next kid. After everyone gets questions out of their system, grab the gremlin you feel like you could give the best advice to, and move to Ground Beta. From then, spar, analyze, and train with them for the remainder of the school day. There will be two more of you, compared to the students. So feel free to double up, or have someone supervise or whatnot. At lunch, the food I promised is in the staffroom."

Bakugo rushed out as fast as he could without seeming anxious.

A moment of silence passed before Iida voiced his question. "What about you? Where will you be?"

Bakugo sighed, feeling the weight on his shoulders become ever so prominent. In that moment, everyone could see how tired he was. How the events of mere years ago still hadn't left his mind.

Those memories would never fade, no matter how hard he or anyone else tried. But they could tell he was definitely better than he once was.

And the group could see that.

"Ah," he grumbled, no doubt cursing the blue haired adult for noticing the implications inside Bakugo's words. "I'll be here to watch over the first few minutes of you all getting to know each other. But the Commission contacted me--"He noticed how almost everyone stiffened. Afterall, the Commission was known for sending heroes they didn't agree with, on suicide missions…and they had been witness to one nearly firsthand. "--I have to go in to get transferred and then they said they'd give more information on the way." He said, rubbing the back of his neck, not meeting anyone's gaze.

"...Bakugo…" Uraraka whispered sympathetic yet worried. Her voice was wavering as emotions rolled through her like waves. She found herself trying to comfort the blonde, knowing he especially, had been through a lot. And yet she had no pity in her concerns, something Bakugo was immensely grateful for.

Nevertheless, he shook off the words and hands of a couple friends that had also used in an attempt to comfort him. He cleared his throat before looking up at the wall next to Sato's neck.

"There are a lot of different quirks inside. My class knows that discrimination is not okay and will be punished, but if anyone gets out of hand, just send them to Nezu. He will know what to do. As of right now, they know that I will be leaving for a mission soon, and that you all will be in charge until further notice." And with that, Bakugo stepped towards the door and opened it.

Momo walked forward. She was leading the group inside, but stopped in front of Bakugo. She let a small smile grace her lips as she began to speak. "After your mission, I would love for all of us to get lunch." She said softly.

Bakugo nodded gruffly, looking in her eyes briefly as he responded. "Okay."

Momo inclined her head to show Bakugo that she heard.

Iida stepped forward as well. "Make sure to keep in touch. We missed you very much." He said, putting a hand on Bakugo's arm.

"Yeah, I'll text you…" He mumbled, before adding on. "And keep in touch."

After that, the group immediately walked inside, only to be met with gasps and excited squeals.
Before Shinso could step foot inside, he felt hands pull him backwards, out of the line.

Looking over, he noticed the hand to be Bakugo's, and let himself be pulled out of the way of the other heros.

By the time everyone went inside, Bakugo closed the door slightly so the class couldn't hear. He turned to the exhausted hero, eyes showing seriousness. Shinso felt kind of uncomfortable under the strong gaze.

Bakugo put one of his hands on Shinso's shoulder. "I know you were close to Izuku."

Shinso stiffened at the seemingly random sentence. The phrasing was odd, considering Bakugo was in the trio as well. The three had hung out consistently in third year, finding each other's presence calming and fun. But for some reason, Bakugo had excluded himself?

The blonde lowered his voice. "There is a kid, with bleached hair. He's been discriminated against for being quirkless his whole life." The hand on Shinso's shoulder squeezed slightly. "He thinks like Deku. I can't help him because I don't understand the pent up emotions like you and Izuku did. So please," Bakugo was shaking, tears brimming within his eyes. "Please help him believe he can be a good hero. A hero like you or Deku. He needs a good figure to look up to, especially one similar to him." And with that, Bakugo patted Shinso on his shoulder and began walking inside.

He let the Mind-Controlling teen stand out in the hallway to gather up his thoughts.
