For a first time I have come to ... THE END. The end of what? You may ask if there ever were a you to read this but let's not ponder all so long about such a thing. Right now is a time for a solo celebration celebrating the fact that I have reached an end point on the longest story I have written to date.

As I write this, it is Sunday the fifteenth of August 2021 and a little more than a little while since I added anything to this little section of mine. What I am adding here is a little documentation for my own benefit more than anything else. It if ever generates any interest in regards of being read by anyone else then great.

Five days ago, I reached a point in a story I have been writing for approximately three and a half years whereby I was happy to write the words ... THE END. The story is called OUT OF THE SHADOWS and of this moment in time is approximately 252,500 words which is by far the longest thing I ever have written.

Early in 2018, I was made aware of a project looking for nine writers to come together each to take a part each in a nine-part story involving each writer to write between 10,000 and 12,000 words and I initially went in on this project. The way things went I ended up backing out of the project, but I was really liking what I was doing to the point I made it known that I'd like to do a full version of that story by myself. I met with no objections so off I went.

Now the characters and ideas in my story are all mine, it's the basic premise that I borrowed and man, when I thought I would write a full version, I was not expecting to reach such a high word count. It was possible I would clear 100,000 words without a problem, and I was fine with that but 252,500 ?? and at that, the story, in time, is likely increase in length. Again, I am fine with that.

There has been a lot of editing done and all by this point, making sure it works and fits together as best it can though I know I will go through it all again at some point, all going well. That point just won't be for a while. I will allow the project to rest a while before I go back to it for I have yet to be away from it for any real length of time.

Yeah, things may have moved slowly at times and quicker at others though I have as of yeah to leave it be for more than a week or two at a time. I'll give it a few months and hopefully I will have a renewed interest in it when I return to it. At this point in time, I am delighted with how it has turned out and it is a project I am so glad I took on.

For the moment, give it the rest it needs then return to it and give it a further once or twice over and that in itself is something for me to look forward to.
