She was his prized possession, his biggest achievement.

 Tears flow like the river. The cries echo through the hallowed halls; the ensuing silence only confirmed the inevitable: she is gone forever, and in his heart there is nothing but hollow pain and despair.

The hysterical sobs eventually quieten, giving way to the numb grief. He wasn’t there for her when she passed. He can hear her wails reverberating in his head up to the heavens. He can imagine her suffering as she hoped against hope that somebody would visit, but all that waited for her at the other end was cold silence.

She had brought so many souls into one place. She had given life to friendship. She had nurtured so many creative minds. Yet at her moment in need, few were by her side. Few held her hand, stroked her cheek and calmed her fears.

She is gone.

An unforgiving wind blows between the people standing in silence, chilling their lonely hearts as the emotions of loss and abandonment slowly set in. A ghost of a smile, a whisper from her lips. The last faint echoes of the laughter in her voice dances around them as they raise their tear-stained faces; yesterday's beautiful, joyous moments become nothing more than half-forgotten memories...
