Sibel Kara

Sibel Kara

"How is she?" He asked the same doctor who has been treating her since the first time, as soon as he came out from the operating theater.

"The next 48 hours will tell us if she stays or decides to go. She had lost a lot of blood recently and this new operation made her heart stop beating for 30 seconds.

"She died for 30 seconds!" He exclaimed and stepped back, shocked. Sinbad still couldn't comprehend why she did it and now almost lost her.

"In this situation, I need to ask what happened that made her take this extreme decision. Have you two had any problems lately?" Doctor Adil stepped forward from his duty because it was unexplainable all that happened.

"Lately, no, but... I... we are... 'Please find out the truth and end my suffering!'

Her last words ring in his head.

"Did she do all this to get away from me?" He thought as he falls on his knees before the doctor.

"You need to be strong for her!" The doctor gets on his knees before the broken man. He is an exception of Oriental men who hurt and don't care what happened next.

"She is dying! She killed herself because I have hurt her. What have I done? Just a week ago, I hurt her in every worst way a man can towards his woman. I cheated, I beat, I humiliated, belted, slapped, raped her many times." He confesses his sins before the doctor as now he can't carry them anymore. They hurt. His redemption is like a hot iron knife cutting through his chest."

"In my whole life as a doctor at this hospital, I have never encountered a woman who would go to such extremes. I have seen their men bringing them to the edge of death by beating or shooting them in defense of their honor. None of those women tried to hurt themselves. They have accepted their fate, even when the men were wrong. But she is different…

"Yes, she is different. After all, she is Sibel Kara!" Sinbad interrupted, recognizing the significance of her name after all that had happened.

"Are you saying that the girl lying there is the famous Sibel Kara, the youngest daughter of Ahmed Kara?" As the words came out of the doctor's mouth, his memories flooded back. He knew the girl very well.

"Yes, the one and only Sibel Kara! We have enmity. I did all those things to break her. It's good for me that I broke her beyond repair." Sinbad surrendered without any conditions and spoke those words.

"You thought that by doing all those horrible things she would be willing to obey your desires, your wishes. Right?" Sinbad admitted by bobbing his head.

"You forgot who she is?

SHE is Ahmed Kara's daughter. He has raised his girls to be superior, especially Sibel. No one could force her to do something she didn't want, even her father couldn't when he was before the judge and Sibel declared that she saw him killing someone. And here you are, the man who decided to break an untamed heart, and now you are facing the results of your stupidity." The doctor was shocked that he just had in his hands the heart of Ahmed's daughter, the one girl who opposed the lying and went ahead for the truth.

"I can never lie!"

"I am saying what I saw!"

"She never lies," Sinbad mumbled as he was trying to get up from the floor. The doctor helped him, fearing he might collapse and shatter worse than a glass against the floor. Sinbad was about to lose his sanity, his breath, his heart, his life altogether with her.

"I love her, she is my breath. If she goes, I go with her. It's not from a guilty conscience but because I truly love her, and without her, I will not breathe." Sinbad let himself in the doctor's arms, crying like a child.

Doctor was in his late fifties, grey hair had started to appear. He had recently come back to Oriental and missed what had happened here for a decade. He missed recognizing the little, brave girl who pointed the finger towards her father as the man who killed another man.

Back in time

Sibel was swinging on her chair when the Judge called her to testify against her father. She wasn't afraid, even though she was six years old; her raven eyes looked like they could take a soul without regret.

"Little girl, can you tell us what you saw?"

"First of all, dear Judge, you can't call me little girl. I am here to testify, so call me by my name like you do with others, or I will not say anything further." Her statement brought laughter around the court as she angrily looked at them, crossing her arms and defying the Judge.

"Good point! Miss Sibel Kara, can you tell us what happened that night?"

"Yes, dear judge!" she beamed from her seat and stood up, "I was playing hide and seek with my brothers. When I went down the stairs because they would never find me there. As I was trying to find a proper hidden place, I heard my dad's voice. He was yelling a lot. I got scared. I thought he was mad at my brothers but no, there was another man with his head down as Aga was beating him. I was terrified. I had never seen something like that before. The man was pleading for mercy. But my dad pointed the gun at his bleeding face. 'You didn't show mercy on my sister! You played with her innocence and dragged her to hell until God had mercy and took her. You see, God was merciful but I am not him so..." not finishing his words, he shot him and I screamed. Then dad found me. Right, dad?" she turned to her dad.

"Yes, my princess!"

"I don't know why my dad shot him, sir, but if he was responsible for my aunt not being alive today, he did well. 'Cause you don't know how beautiful she is, how kind she is when she tells me stories when she visits in my dreams. And she taught me to play piano too, just like." A tear rolled down her rosy cheek and quickly more followed. She was trying to remove them with her little hands.

"See your highness, she is just a kid, she must have fantasized all that happened with her father just as she sees her aunt in her dreams." Ahmed Kara's lawyer intervenes to save his client.

"You are bad! Very bad advocate, sir! How can you say I dreamed all that? I clearly saw my dad shooting another man. Dad says that I am not a liar. Look, everyone will call me a liar. Lütfen baba! (Please baba!)" Sibel left her place and went towards her dad, catching his leg, with her tears covering her moon-like face, those damp eyelashes covering the pitch darkness of her infinite orbs. Held by her father, her obedient soldier.Ahmed Kara took her in his arms, removing the gravity from under her small feet.

"Sibel Kara doesn't lie! She saw the truth and said it. The rest is in your hands, and for your profit, and especially if you value your lives, you know what to do!" Ahmed Kara tried to sound a little bit menacing as he walked out of the courtroom, holding Sibel tight against his chest.

"Ahmed, I am sorry! I tried to convince her to say otherwise," her mum approached, trying to take the girl who was clinging to his neck like a koala.

"No one can force my daughter to say what others want!"

"But her testimony could bring trouble to you!"

"Don't worry, wife! I will be walking free from here with my baby. Where is Peri?"

"She is with Seit, she swears that she lost her balance and that's why she fell."

"I have failed all the women that Allah put on my way to protect and cherish them, including you, my beloved!" Ahmed Kara said, sharing a warm hug with her there in the courtroom as Sibel drifted off to her Dreamland, where her aunt was waiting.

That day, Ahmed Kara left the courtroom with his wife and daughter after the judge set him free. Adil, who was working at the morgue at that time, had witnessed how that man's body was transformed through all the brutality, ending with a bullet between the eyes. Indeed, Ahmed Kara was merciful, as the bullet saved him from misery. No matter what Adil testified, he couldn't change the court's decision that came as a result of Ahmed's influence. In that courtroom, he met the fearless, untamed heart of little Sibel Kara.

It didn't take long before another news broke on Oriental Street. The woman whose husband Ahmed Kara killed had burned herself in her home, leaving behind an orphaned child. I can't say that this news didn't affect Ahmed the Emperor, but as his family was saved, he didn't care if the rest of the world burned to ashes.

Now, in less than 72 hours, Sibel was out of the woods and ready to go home again, against recommendations.

"I said I want to go home!" Sibel exclaimed as she raised on her elbows while the doctor tried to calm her down. It looks like she isn't used to the grey-white walls or the stands that hold medicine and surgical tools. The sound of the heart monitor wasn't appealing to her ears, as it was the first thing she turned off when she woke up.

"You almost died a few hours ago. You need rest and proper care."

"I am fine! If I fall ill, he will surely bring me here again."

"You know what you did could have cost your life." Doctor Adil suspected with truth that this time she really played with her life.

"Next, I will make sure not to bother you, doctor, as I will go directly to the morgue!" She struck back, not caring much about her life as she once did.

Doctor Adil had spent more than 20 years in the hospital, telling himself that he would never be surprised as he had seen everything. However, life proved him wrong. One day, years ago, he was baffled watching how a little girl could make Ahmed the emperor bow and make the world bow to her. Now, the same girl turned woman was walking through hell to prove to the world once again that if she doesn't bow to her, she will shatter everything to gain her belief.

"Men's revenge has no comparison to women's vengeful vengeance!" he thought as he looked at her steel-like form even after enduring hours of operation.

"Drop this vengeance, Sibel kizim (my child)," he requested in his tranquil voice, hoping to reach her soul that was crushed behind those darker, lifeless orbs.

"If you are here talking about this, it means that he already told you what he did to me. When I begged, I cried, I yelled to stop his vicious act, he didn't hear me. I will not hear from anyone now. Do you think that I will buy his fake repentance, his fake tears, or his lying words..."

"He truly loves you! I have seen true redemption in his eyes." The doctor tried to change her mind, but it seems Sibel isn't ready to listen to reason yet.

"Don't think I didn't recognize you. You were there beside the prosecutor to give evidence of the murder. You were a man of few words, but explained in detail what my father had done. Do you remember what I did? How did the emperor raise me? I don't give up easily. This goes until the end. Don't interfere, doctor. This is a family matter and nothing that concerns you. Sign my release papers. If not, I will go out by myself. Just because you know something about my relationship with him doesn't give you the power to change anything. The arrow has left the bow."

Doctor Adil couldn't do anything but sign those papers. Sibel was determined in her request, even though she had just undergone a major operation with her heart stopping in the middle of it.

Sinbad, who had been impatiently waiting for her recovery, now acted cold, just like her eyes towards him. It wasn't the time to talk.

"Halide, thank you for all you did, but I don't require your help this time," Sibel shared a warm hug with the girl who assisted her throughout the operation and pleaded for her comeback. Sinbad looked at them but immediately shifted his gaze to the wheel. Sibel glared at him once, then bid goodbye to Halide as she entered the backseat.

"Home. At home, we will have a long discussion," he thought as he drove away.
