Chapter Thirty-One
a/n: I'M FINALLY GETTING NEW GLASSES *squeals*... I don't think I've ever told anyone on wattpad the stories of my glasses. Well, to sum it all up in my friend Alex's words: My glasses are shix.
One of the thingies that extend over your ear (the stalker kid with a crush on my sister who apparently read erotic novels, James, calls them arms.) Then one of the lens will fall out literally every time I even move my head because the part that holds the lens in place broke. The only part of my glasses that isn't fudged up is the part over my nose. Literally I'm that nerd with taped up glasses, except they're taped everywhere but the part over my nose.
I've had the same glasses since I took the test telling me I need glasses. It's terrible. I don't own a second pair because I have cheap parents (who buys my little sister like... five pairs a year because she goes through glasses like I go through bacon xD) edit: I got the new glasses and I feel so weird. My glasses were those big ones that you see on the nerd posters and they were red and I loved them so much. My new ones are the same style kind of except black and I'm kinda missing my red while at the same time I do like the new ones. . . Ugh.
anyways, chapter questions: Do you wear glasses? Also, I'm opening a new advice book where I give out advice so you should ask for advice on stuff. I'll give advice to every So, can you ask me for advice?

Sophie took the pillow from under her head and lifted it up before weakly smacking it at Keefe's face, who instantly jumped up. "What?" he asked, tired.
"You take care of it," she barely whispered because she was so tired.
"I took care of it last time," he argued.
"Well, you're a guy, he's a guy, start having guy time," she mumbled, already going back to sleep.
"I don't have the body parts to feed him," he reminded.
"This is his diaper change cry," she replied.
"Really? He pooped in his sleep?"
"You peed the bed when you were seven," she retorted. "He probably got it from you." She rolled over in the bed so she was facing him. "Can you please, please take care of it. I need to sleep because Foxfire starts tomorrow and I have to mentor in talk to the principal person," she said. "I would come up with the name for it here but I'm just all around too tired to care."
Kenric started wail again and she groaned. "Just fix it," she said before finally taking the pillow and pressing it against her ears so she could try to drown the sound enough to go back to sleep.
Keefe rolled his eyes. "You're the one who wanted the baby," he reminded.
"Yeah, and I'll probably still want another in another few years. For right now, let's stop worrying about wanting babies and worrying about wanting to sleep."
___
"Dame...?" Sophie stared expectantly.
"I'm Dame Camille," she greeted. "Sophie Foster, right?"
Sophie nodded. "Yeah, but I go by Sophie Sencen now," she corrected.
Dame Camille nodded. "So, you were hired to mentor as what?"
Sophie shrugged. "Whatever anyone needs. I'm like a substitute teacher until someone gets telepathy and chooses me to mentor them," she answered.
Dame Camille nodded. "Well, we didn't have any teachers sign up to watch over study hall on Thursdays and here's a list of lunch detention days opening." Dame Camille took out a list that Sophie looked over.
"Ooh.. I don't know if I'd be good at lunch detention." She frowned. "I just had a baby and I'd be kind of sensitive to punishing students."
"Sophie, do you get late nights?" Dame Camille asked, curiously. Sophie nodded. "Do you ever just want to strangle your husband for making that possible and just want to strangle that baby so it will stop crying."
She bit her lip. Almost in a whisper she admitted, "Sometimes."
"Well, instead of strangling the only happiness in your life, you can transmit all that pent up anger into teaching lunch detention punishments. You remember lunch detention when you attended here and teachers did all sorts of things?"
"One of my teachers made us do ballroom dancing," Sophie said, smiling slightly at the memory.
"Exactly. You can literally make them do anything. If you wanted, you could bring your baby to the lunch detention and force the kids to sit through its crying," Dame Camille said, smiling slightly. "Are you okay with lunch detention now?"
Sophie thought about it for a second. "Yeah. . . I guess I'm okay with going over lunch detention now," she said.
"Also, if you are planning to bring your baby to work please only have it come during your lunch break," she instructed.
Sophie nodded. "Of course. My parents are going to be baby sitting him during the day and I think they'd like not watching him all day," she agreed with a small smile. "So, I'm doing study hall today?"
Dame Camille nodded. "That's all you have to worry about," she stated with a small smile. "You can handle lunch detention tomorrow. Kids work faster than Keefe Sencen."
"I don't know," Sophie argued, "my husband set a pretty high standard. This is coming from the person who almost blew up the school."
"Sophie Sencen. . . You're married to Keefe Sencen." Dame Camille rolled her eyes. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize that. I was in the Elite Towers when you joined this school, actually. I don't know many people your specific age."
Sophie nodded in understanding. "I get it. Don't worry."
"Okay. Actually, I was planning to do lunch detention today but if you think you could take over that, too, that would be amazing. Remember to punish the students."
Sophie nodded. "Of course. Thank you, Dame Camille."
"Just call me Camille. You're not a student anymore." Dame Camille then stood up and walked away while Sophie was stuck in place thinking over that. You're not a student anymore.
___
Sophie walked into the lunch detention room, her right hand holding Kenric in a baby carrier and her left holding his baby bag and her lunch. "Hello," she greeted, placing her stuff down and turning to see about three kids around the age fourteen.
"You don't work here," the only boy said in an accusing voice, looking at the baby.
She placed Kenric on the ground and stared at him with annoyance. "It's my first day working here. I'm not an actual mentor yet. I just have to watch you kids during lunch and study hall," she explained. She took out the lunch which included some milk for Kenric. She took him out of the carrier and placed the bottle in his mouth before turning to the kids. "I really don't know what to do to punish you."
"Really?" One of the two girls spoke up.
Sophie shrugged. "I hated getting lunch detention back when I went here not that long ago. My husband, though, got it all the time on purpose. Once I had detention for basically a straight two weeks and we really bonded," she said. "How about I punish you guys with stories? Doesn't that sound non-fun?"
"It's better than the gardening lunch detention I had on the last day of school," the boy said.
She nodded. "Well, you guys can just call me Sophie. Lady Sophie doesn't sound right because it's human."
"Wait," the other girl said. "Are you Sophie Foster?"
Sophie nodded. "Of course, I go by Sophie Sencen now," she added. "I always have to tell people that."
"Your husband should have taken your last name. You're famous!" the girl squealed.
"What do you mean she's famous?" the boy asked, looking at the girl with wide eyes.
"Haven't you heard about the girl who was raised by humans and then basically changed our world forever?" the other girl grinned and turned to Sophie. "I am literally starstruck."
Sophie laughed. "Aww, you're so sweet." She smiled. "So, what did you guys do to get into detention on your first day back to school? And what are your names?"
"I'm Jensen," the boy said. "I ditched my first class and got caught so I'm here."
"I'm Callia," the girl who spoke first said. "I ditched with him. She did too"
"I'm Julia," the other girl said.
Sophie nodded. "Are you guys a friend group?"
Callia nodded. "Yeah. My brother, who's dating Julia, is in it too but he's in a different level and he had his ability training class he didn't want to skip with us," Callia added. "We're a group four." She grinned and looked at Jensen.
Jensen then added, "I'm in the group because I'm dating Callia."
Sophie grinned. "That's cute you are all dating each other." Kenric finished his bottle so she put it away before taking out a simple sandwich Mr. Forkle bought her ingredients for. She put Kenric back in his carrier and started to coo at him. "Please don't need a diaper change," she slightly begged. "Diaper changes are your father's job."
"What's his name?" Callia asked.
Sophie smiled at her son. "Kenric," she answered.
"After the councilor?" Julie questioned, grinning.
Sophie turned to Julia and grinned. "Yeah, after the councilor. He was an amazing man. You guys must have been babies when he was killed." She looked at Callia. "I love your name, by the way," she said.
Callia smiled. "Why's that?" she asked.
"Have you ever heard of the gnome Calla?" she asked. Callia shook her head. Sophie smiled softly. "I won't tell you the entire story, but just know that Calla was an amazing gnome who taught me a lot when I was younger in the short time I knew her. She was an amazing person. She actually taught me how to make this amazing stew that I still make today. She wanted to be remember for that stew."
"What happened to her?" Callia asked.
Sophie gave her a secretive smile. "Spoilers, child. Actually, should be learning a lot about all this and even some about my life. Do you guys skip your Elvin history classes a lot?" She frowned.
Julia nodded. "We don't skip a lot, actually. This is Callia's first time skipping. Her third time in lunch detention."
Sophie nodded. "So, what's on your schedules for today? Actually, what are your schedules? I want to see if you have anyone I used to have."
They instantly handed her their schedules. She looked at Callia. "You have Multispeciesial Studies with Lady Evera?" She smiled. "I had her when I was a level three," she said. She looked over it more. "You have the same empathy mentor my husband had," she said before handing the schedule back. She frowned at Julia's schedule. "Alchemy with Lady Galvin. . . Oh, you poor child." She handed the paper back.
"Is it bad?" Julia asked, scared.
"I almost got kicked out of Foxfire because of her. If it wasn't for the fact I manifested for inflicting."
"You're an inflictor?" Jensen gasped.
"Seriously, Jay. Pay attention in history," Callia said, rolling her eyes.
Sophie shook her head at him before turning to Julia. "I just sucked at it myself naturally and didn't have the talent. That, and I blew up her cape. Tip: Don't ruin her cape." She smiled in thought. "I actually met Keefe that day, to think of it."
"You met your husband the day you blew up your teachers cape? That's kind of ironic."
"Ooh, how'd you meet?" Julia asked curiously.
Sophie grinned as she told them the story. "I had blown up Lady Galvin's cape on my first day in her class. I was new to the school, and felt terrible because I was the only elf who grew up with humans." She grinned. "When Is aw the letters W.H.A.P on the paper I thought it was a spelling error for whip even though it meant wash hands and present. I whipped it and then it blew up. I was sent to go see Elwin-"
"He's the doctor here, right?"
Sophie nodded. "He's actually an honorary uncle to Kenric," Sophie said, grinning at the sleeping baby. She turned back to them. "Anyways, I was walking in the hall and Keefe was there. He was skipping his class. He ended up walking me to Elwin's and stayed there while I was getting checked up on so that he could miss even more class," she explained, grinning. "Turns out he was the best friend of Fitz, who was one of the two friends I had at the time."
"Fitz Vacker. He's the one who found you," Julia said with a grin.
Sophie nodded. "The other friend I had was Dex, who might be in the stories you learn. I'm not sure."
Callia nodded. "We learned all about who you were with. Dex Dizznee and Biana Vacker, now Biana Dizznee. Also Keefe Sencen and Fitz Vacker." She nodded.
Sophie smiled. "We also have two other people in our friend group, Marella and Jensi, They're left out a lot but they're still my friends." Sophie sighed. "Lunch detention should be ending soon. Don't tell anyone I didn't punish you, okay?"
They nodded. "We'll tell the kids that you're cool but that you made us listen to your baby wail as you tried to make him go to sleep," Jensen told her.
Sophie nodded. "Okay, good. I hope one of you two manifest in telepathy. I'd love to mentor one of you."
They all nodded and grinned before exiting the room. Sophie looked at Kenric with a sigh. "Let's get you home baby," she whispered. His eyes opened and fear crept into her. She light leaped back to her house just as the cries filled the air.
