The day of all days had finally arrived since Hermione and Harvey Granger had received their letters from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry just a few weeks prior. Of course, it had been a somewhat surprising turn of events, but it had filled both the children with nothing but excitement. Harvey couldn't wait to discover this new world, whilst his older twin sister Hermione was more interested in the books and classes. She was five minutes older than her brother and never let him forget it.
They were in the car, their parents driving them to King's Cross Station. Young Harvey, a bundle of nerves, becoming ever more impatient, picking at the skin around his nails whilst his sister had her nose in a book called 'Hogwarts: A History' since they had left home. The young boy rolled his eyes. Honestly, when did his sister not have a book in her hands? Harvey began almost bouncing excitedly in his seat and tapped his sister on her shoulder just as the car pulled into the station's parking. As soon as the car stopped, Harvey undid his seatbelt and bounded out, grinning.
"Okay, Harvey, Hermione, I never thought this day would come for you both to part from us," Mrs Granger was almost about to cry about letting her children travel to school so far away, but they have a gift, and they can't let it go to waste.
"It will be okay, Mum," Harvey hugs his mother, wrapping his arms tightly around her and pressing his face against her, "Besides, Hermione and I will be home to see you for Christmas anyway."
Hermione and his father joined in on the hug, holding one another for a few minutes. Now letting one another go, they headed into Kings Cross towards platform nine and three-quarters. Thankfully, Hermione knew where to find it precisely due to the amount of reading she did. They now pushed their trolleys a pillar between platforms nine and ten, with their parents helping them whoosh through the wall, appearing on the other side to be greeted by a fantastic steam train. Again, they bid their parents farewell, waving from a window just as the train pulled away and out of sight.

Now, aboard the Hogwarts Express, the twins searched for a compartment to sit in. They soon came across a compartment where a chubby eleven-year-old with slightly pronounced teeth and dark brown hair, a pet toad in his hands, sat gazing out the window.
"Hi, excuse me," Harvey gets the boys' attention, who quickly turns to face the twins, somewhat startled by them, "Do you mind if we sit everywhere else is full up?" Harvey asked politely, motioning towards the vacant seats across from him.
The boy nodded quickly, followed by a nervous swallow. It seemed he was the nervous sort. Harvey sat down with a thud while Hermione sat more gracefully as they each offered him a gentle smile. After a short while, Harvey broke the ice and the awkward tension within the compartment.
"Oh, we didn't introduce ourselves. I'm Harvey Granger, and this is my twin sister, Hermione," the boy gestured between himself and his sister, who once again had her nose in a book.
"Nice to meet you," the other boy replied with a small voice that Harvey could barely hear.
Hermione glanced up from her book to ask, "What's your name?"
"N-Neville Longbottom," Neville returned to her, stuttering a little. With that, she nodded before returning to her book.
"It's nice to meet you, Neville," Harvey uttered kindly with a grin.
Not long after, there was a knock on the compartment door. All three children see a short, brown-haired boy standing in the doorway.
"Is it alright if I sit with you a lot everywhere else packed," he asked with a thick Irish accent. The Granger boy looked to the other two for approval, who subtly nodded.
"Sure, come in," Harvey gestured to the space beside Neville.
The boy smiled as he slung himself into the chair like Harvey had earlier and introduced himself, "My name is Seamus. What's yours?" he asked them, looking at each of the three. Knowing that his sister and Neville were neither going to speak, Harvey introduced everyone.
"Well, I'm Harvey Granger. Over there is Neville, and beside me, with her nose in a book, is my sister, Hermione," he pointed to himself, then the other two.
"Well, it's nice to meet you lot," Seamus looked at them all.
Suddenly, the toad in Neville's hands leapt to freedom and started hopping away.
"Trevor," the boy yelled as he dived under the twin's seats in search of him, then popped back up with a panicked expression, "He's not there."
"Alright, don't worry. I'm sure we'll find him somewhere on the train. We will all help you look, won't we, Hermione," Harvey said as he stood up. He was glaring at his sister as he said her name. She now slammed her book shut with an annoyed huff and got up.
They had decided to split up into two: Hermione and Harvey going down one way, with Neville and Seamus going the other. So far, they weren't having luck in finding Treveor until fate brought them across a compartment with two boys whom they would soon become firm friends in years to come. A boy with dark, messy brunette hair, wearing broken glasses, a piece of tape holding them together, and clothes far too big for him, and a boy with ginger hair and freckles, surrounded by dozens of sweets. It seemed the twins had caught them just mid-conversation, which they stopped when Hermione and Harvey stepped into their compartment.
"Have any of you seen a toad? A boy named Neville has lost one," Hermione inquired rather sassily.
"No," the redheaded boy returned a little rudely. Making Harvey frown at him. The other Granger chooses to ignore it as she notices the wand in his hand going on in a snarky manner, which Harvey can't help but smirk at her, "Oh, are you doing magic? Let's see then."
He cleared his throat before starting to conduct his spell, "Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow, turn this stupid fat rat yellow!" he exclaimed, pointing the wand at his pet rat on his lap, a tiny zap coming out, but nothing happened. He shrugged while Harvey willed himself not to laugh at the boy's misfortune.
"Are you sure that's a real spell? Well, it's not very good, is it?" Hermione teased mockingly, pulling out her wand from her robes. Both twins had changed into their uniforms earlier, "Of course, I've only tried a few simple ones myself, but they've all worked for me. For example..." she went across from the dark-haired boy, pointing at his glasses. He becomes tense, "Oculus Reparo," she pronounced, the tape vanishing from the noseband. Mending his glasses as if they were new, he takes them off, somewhat amazed, as Harvey comes to sit beside his sister, "That's better, isn't it?" Hermione asked when her brother now recognised the boy before them.
"No way, you're Harry Potter! I'm Harvey Granger, and this is my twin, Hermione," he paused to look over at the ginger boy, "And you are...?"
"I'm Ron Weasley," he responded with his mouth complete.
"Charming," Harvey expressed sarcastically before looking back to Harry, "You both better get changed into robes. I think we'll be arriving soon," he said as he and his sister got up to leave.
Briefly pausing as Hermione pointed out to Ron, wondering if he knew, "You've got dirt on your nose, by the way. Did you know?"
"It's just there," the male Granger pointed to the bridge of his nose where the mark was on the other boy's nose before walking away, leaving Ron somewhat embarrassed.

By the time the Hogwarts Express arrived at Hogsmeade station, night had fallen, the train whistle blowing as it pulled up outside. Harvey and Hermione stepped onto the platform, tidying up their plain black school robes. The young Granger boy spots a rather abnormally large man who walks down the side aisle, a lantern dangling aloft from his big hand as more students pile out of the train.
"Right then!" the man yelled in a gruff Scottish accent, startling half of the new students before him as he called them over, "First years! This way, please! Come on, now, don't be shy! Come on now, hurry up!"
Harvey spotted Ron and Harry in front of him and his sister as the boy offered the giant of a man a welcoming smile.
"Hello, Harry," the man voiced joyfully.
"Hey, Hagrid," Harry returned in the same manner.
"Whoaa!" Ron spoke in amazement at taking a better look at the man.
"Right then. This way to the boats! Come on, now, follow me," Hagrid instructed them as he took the lead towards a dock on some water that held many boats.
Harvey sat near the front of a boat with his sister just as the magnificent marvel that was Hogwarts aglow with light with its many turrets and towers came into view, and indeed, it was the most beautiful place Harvey had ever witnessed in his young life thus far.
Now, all the first-year students walk into the castles and up the entrance staircase. Waiting at the top to greet them was a woman known as Professor McGonagall dressed in emerald green. She had a sour expression, fingers wrapped around the stone railing, trying to look almost intimidating to the young children who stopped before her.
"Welcome to Hogwarts," she offered in greeting with a straight face before continuing, "Now, in a few moments, you will pass through these doors and join your classmates. But before you take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin," Harvey noticed a boy with short white-blonde hair and blue-grey eyes smiling smugly at the two plump boys flanking either side of him.
Becoming rather curious about the blonde boy, Harvey continued to watch him as McGonagall continued speaking, "Now, while you're here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you house points. Any rule-breaking and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the House Cup." This seemed to pique Harvey's interest, and he stopped looking at the blonde boy.
Young Harvey's eyes widen as he spots a familiar toad sitting beside the older witch's feet, and he gently nudges Neville, who now looks over, to the side.
"Trevor!" he yelled, hurrying over to grab his toad. McGonagall stared down at the boy displeasingly, who looked up at her as the other students laughed, "Sorry," Neville apologised, somewhat embarrassed, now moving away.
"The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily," the woman turned and exited through the large doors.
That was when Harvey daydreamed about the house he might go into. He honestly didn't mind where, just as long as Hermione was in that house with him when his thoughts got cut short.
"It's true, then, what they're saying on the train," the smooth voice of the same young blonde boy Harvey had noticed earlier spoke up, "Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts," all of the students break out into whispers as the blonde introduced his friends, "This is Crabbe and Goyle, and I'm Malfoy...Draco Malfoy," Ron snickered at his name, causing Draco to glare at him, "Think my name's funny, do you? No need to ask yours. Red hair and a hand-me-down robe? You must be a Weasley," Draco sneered at him, Ron's face dropping.
"I don't think that was very nice, do you," Harvey spoke up without even thinking. The blonde glared questionably at the light brown-haired boy.
"And who are you to question me," he asked as the boy folded his arms across his chest.
"Harvey Granger, what is it to you," the boy stated sassily, only to get brushed off entirely.
"You'll soon discover that some wizarding families are better than others, Potter. You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there," Draco held a pale hand to Harry, who stared at it.
"Think I can tell the wrong sort for myself, thanks," the green-eyed boy retorted smartly, not taking any of Draco's arrogance when Harvey saw him return a look that was just priceless by all accounts.
The older woman in emerald green had returned, tapping Draco on the shoulder with a scroll of parchment, giving Harry one last glare.
"We're ready for you now. Follow me."

McGonagall leads the students through two large doors leading into the Great Hall, with four long tables and thousands of older students. Looking at the vast ceiling, Harvey notices what appears to be floating candles and that the roof looks like the sky.
"It's not real, the ceiling," Hermione began explaining to her brother beside her, "It's just bewitched to look like the night sky. I read about it in Hogwarts: A History."
"Talk about ruining it for me, Mione," the boy voiced sarcastically to his twin, playfully rolling his eyes at her, who returned a grin as they continued walking until they finally reached the front where, resting upon a stool was an old brown hat.
"All right, will you wait along here, please? Now, before we begin, Professor Dumbledore would like to say a few words," Professor McGonagall instructed before she stepped aside. Dumbledore, an older man with a long white beard, half-moon glasses and dressed in fine robes, rose from the table.
"I have a few start-of-term notices I wish to announce. First years, please note that the dark forest is strictly forbidden to all students in the first years. Also, our caretaker, Mr Filch," Harvey peers over his shoulder briefly to see a ragged old man with lanky hair and a cat with red eyes by his side standing by the Great Hall doors, "has asked me to remind you that the third-floor corridor on the right-hand side of the castle is out of bounds to everyone who does not wish to die a most painful death," with all said and done he sits back down.
"When I call your name, you will come forth. I shall place the sorting hat on your head, and you will be sorted into your houses," McGonagall explained to the children as she picked up the hat, calling the first student on the scroll before her, "Hermione Granger."
Harvey saw nothing but panic in his sister's eyes as she walked up to the stool, muttering under her breath to try and reassure herself as she passed by him, "Oh, no. Okay, relax."
"Mental, that one I'm telling you," Ron whispered to Harry, who nodded as Harvey briefly glared at the two boys before returning his eyes to the front just as the Sorting Hat got placed on Hermione's head.
"Ah, right then... hmm... right. Okay...Gryffindor!"
The congregation of students dressed in red cheered as Hermione jumped off the stool and went to join her house's table.
"Draco Malfoy."
The blonde boy sauntered proudly towards the stool, the ragged hat barely brushing his head as the Sorting Hat yelled, "Slytherin!" Draco beams with pride as the table of students wearing green applauds.
"There isn't a witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slytherin," Harvey heard Ron uttering quietly to Harry from behind.
"Harvey Granger."
Harvey was a nervous wreck and felt the palms of his hands becoming sweaty as he slowly made his way towards the stool, gulping silently before sitting down and the hat placed on his head.
"Hmm...interesting, very interesting indeed. Alright, then, Ravenclaw!" the Sorting Hat called out, and Harvey instantly looked to his sister, who didn't seem disappointed he had been put in a separate house from her, but as long as they looked out for one another, everything would be fine. Getting up, he goes over, being the new first-year to join the house.
"Ronald Weasley."
Ron gulped nervously and walked up before sitting down honestly, the hat now placed on his head, "Ha! Another Weasley. I know just what to do with you. Gryffindor!" the hat yelled the young redhead sighing before going to join his table.
"Harry Potter."
Upon hearing his name being called, the entire Great Hall went deathly silent; you could only hear the flames crackling from the large fireplace nearby. Harry looked more nervous than Harvey and Ron put together as he walked up to sit on the stall.
"Hmm...difficult, very difficult. Plenty of courage, I see. Not a bad mind, either. There's talent, oh, yes. And a thirst to prove yourself. But where to put you," the Sorting Hat pondered with themself.
"Not Slytherin, not Slytherin," Harry whispered to the hat.
"Not Slytherin, eh? Are you sure? You could be great, you know. It's all here in your head. And Slytherin will lead you on to greatness! There's no doubt about that. No?"
Harry continued whispering, "Please, not Slytherin...anything but Slytherin."
"Well, if you're sure. Better be...Gryffindor!" the hat finally bursts out with an almighty yell. There is cheering as Harry is sent over to join his other classmates.
That night, Gryffindor's house gained many new students, including Neville and Seamus, which Harvey was more than pleased about, even though he wasn't in said house, to be on this new journey with Hermione. A few more students got sorted that he would also become friends with later on: Li Chang, Charlotte Diggory and a few others. But without not knowing, they would be going through a lot of pain, heartbreak and turmoil in the years to come. But something great would come from it: a story about the Golden Four of Hogwarts that would be told for many years.
