"So what's the big deal, Hashirama?" Madara asked as he tentatively dipped his bare toe into the water, testing the temperature. He barely suppressed a grimace and immediately pulled his feet back and shoved them back into his shinobi sandals, firmly deciding it was too cold for his oh-so-sensitive feet.
Hashirama hummed as he swung his legs through the water, completely oblivious to the chill. "I think Tobi's been acting. . . I don't know-"
"Sour, grumpy, easily irritable?"
"Yeah, what you just said. Wait, what? How did you know?"
Madara gave Hashirama a half-smile. "Izuna's been acting the same way."
"I wonder if Tobi is in love or something," Hashirama mused before bursting out laughing, kicking his legs up and spraying water everywhere much to Madara's annoyance. "But that's just me being stupid."
Madara glared slightly at Hashirama as he patted dry the water that had splashed onto him. "Well I wouldn't exactly be surprised - Izuna is in love with Sakura, you know."
Hashirama froze. "What. . .?"
"Izuna's in love with Sakura," Madara repeated. "Are you deaf?"
"B-But but but but but!" Hashirama stuttered. "But it can't be! T-Tobi's-"
Madara raised an eyebrow. "You're acting like a blubbering buffoon. Talk in comprehensible sentences, please."
"Izuna can't be in love with Sakura!" Hashirama spluttered. "Because Tobirama's possessive about things that's his or what he thinks should be his, a-and. . ." Hashirama trailed off as he came to a realization.
"And. . . he's in love. . . with Sakura."
Madara stared impassively across the creek, though his emotions were roiling under his skin. "This is the first time Izuna's ever been in love."
"Same with Tobi."
"By the sounds of it, they're both equally possessive about things they deem precious to them."
"Very true. . . Madara?"
"Hm?"
"I'm worried."
". . . so am I, Hashirama. So am I."

Izuna sighed as he lowered his katana from the defensive position. He had been attacking and mutilating the poor training dummy who was looking absolutely disfigured right now. He just couldn't get his mind off that impossibly angelic, pink-haired, green eyed girl that had risked her life to save him.
And yes, he was completely discarding the fact that she had sent a Shadow Clone to save him while risking her life for Tobirama only.
"Izuna."
"Madara," Izuna turned to find his older brother staring at him with a glint in his eye.
"Tell me," Madara said simply as he walked forward into the training arena. "Are you in love with Sakura?"
"W-Wh-What?! No!" Izuna stuttered. "W-Why would I be in love with her? That's an absolutely ridiculous notion, Madara! There's no way I could possibly be-"
"You are most definitely in love with her," Madara said in a deadpan, enjoying every second of the conversation.
"What?! NO!"
"Yes, you are. Your stuttering and denial only prove to contrast against you," Madara pointed out. "You're like a lovestruck puppy that would follow her around and worship the ground she treads on. If she was here, that is."
Izuna growled. "I'm not a lovestruck puppy and I'm not obsessing over her if that's what you're implying. I just can't stop thinking about the fact that someone from the Senju clan saved me, an Uchiha, okay?!"
Madara lifted an eyebrow in amusement. "Head. Over. Heels."
"I AM NOT!"

"So, Tobi. . ."
Tobirama flicked his eyes over to his older brother who was acting suspiciously nervous. "What."
Hashirama flinched at the flat, annoyed tone. "U-Um, you've been acting kind of grumpy lately and I was wondering if something was up."
Tobirama grunted. "There's nothing wrong, if that's what you're trying and failing miserably to ask."
"No, not exactly. . . are you feeling something that you haven't uh, felt before?" Hashirama asked hesitantly, wishing he had half the bluntness his Uchiha friend did so he could just ask it outright instead of, as he would say, blabbering like a buffoon.
Tobirama raised an eyebrow. "Such as?"
"Well, we've been noticing you two have been acting rather grumpy lately-"
"You've already said that, and who's "we"?"
"Me and Madara-"
"Madara and I," Tobirama corrected his older brother with an exasperated eyeroll.
Hashirama frowned. "Me and Madara," he stressed rebelliously and eliciting another eyeroll from his younger brother, "have noticed that you two have been-"
"Who's "you two"?"
Hashirama's eyebrow twitched. "STOP INTERRUPTING ME I'M ABOUT TO TELL YOU!"
Tobirama rolled his eyes for the third time in five minutes, and Hashirama bit his tongue to keep from retorting an insult. Given how grumpy and easy-to-irritate Tobirama had been acting lately, the Senju heir did not want to push his limits too far.
"You and Izuna, and since you've been acting the same and Izuna's in love with Sakura I was just wondering if you-"
"Izuna's what? "
Hashirama let out a squeak and jumped to hide behind the chair, quivering in fear of the dark aura Tobirama was leaking.
"Did you just say. . . Izuna is in love with Sakura?"
"Y-Yes," Hashirama squeaked out, absolutely terrified. He could hear his teeth grinding against each other as they chattered and he could feel knees knocking together, his grip on the chair he was hiding behind so hard his knuckles were white. See, this is why you don't push your limits around a pissed-off Tobirama.
"Izuna Uchiha? "
"Y-Yes."
Tobirama let out a scarily animalistic growl and stormed out of the room, leaving a shaking Hashirama in the room for Sakura to later find and attempt to soothe.

At the Uchiha Compound where Izuna was screaming at him, Madara sweatdropped as he felt his ears twitch behind him in the direction of the forest that separated the Uchiha from the Senju Compound.
'My Hashirama Idiocy Senses are tingling. . .'
《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》
When Madara arrived at the river, Hashirama was already there. Tears were streaming down his pouting face as he stared into the distance, a crumpled piece of paper held in his hand. Madara couldn't help but sweatdrop at the sight.
'Looks like my Hashirama Idiocy Senses were right after all,' he sighed as he made his way over. Why was he friends with such a dramatic, bipolar idiot again?
"Hashirama," he called, "what's that in your hand? Hashirama?"
The Senju heir turned to face him as the tears seemed to flow in a comical stream even faster. "Tobi got mad at me~" he whined, sobbing openly. "He went off and destroyed an entire training field! Sakura had to go and waste an hour of her precious life to calm him down! And then all he did when he got back was scribble something, shove it in my face and lock himself in his room!"
Madara gave up on prying his sobbing friend off his oh-so-nice clothes. Pity, now it was going to be stiff with tears and snot and. . . oh Hashirama, why did you choose me of all people to be your friend? Was it because you thought it would be fun to destroy my clothes? Madara thought in a mock-despairing mental tone.
Ugh, thinking of that just made him more depressed about the set of clothes he would have to burn later. Pushing that to the back of his mind, the Uchiha heir grabbed the slip of paper and his heart sank to the core of the Earth.
Izuna Uchiha,
There is something we must discuss, immediately.
Meet me where we both fell. I give you two hours.
- Tobirama Senju
The top half of Madara's face was shadowed by his hair, and he realized why Hashirama was bawling like a baby. Slowly, he brought his hand up to rub "comforting" circles on the Senju's back, more than likely trying to buy time before he had to bring this to Izuna. Kami knows the meeting would not end well, and he and Hashirama would end up probably-most-likely-certainly-definitely intervening.
Well, so much for "frenemies".
It was a grand hour the two spent mourning until they separated. Madara had to quite literally throw Hashirama off him and into the river to a) get him off and b) make him stop crying. If the two older brothers weren't taking this situation way too seriously - because let's face it: both of them are way too overprotective and deep thinkers - they might've laughed themselves silly at what just occurred.
But as it was, Madara made his way back to the Uchiha Compound to deliver the note to Izuna, and Hashirama trudged back to the Senju Compound to tell Tobirama the note had been given.
Quite obviously, Izuna had known exactly where Tobirama had asked - or more like demanded - they meet, and at exactly two hours after the note was sent, with the sun shining upon them high in the cloudless sky, the Uchiha and Senju stood on opposite sides of the river, just as their older brothers had done so often in the past.
"Senju," Izuna started cockily, "what did you-"
"I know you love Sakura," Tobirama said bluntly, cutting straight to the chase.
Izuna's eyes widened. "How did you-" he cut himself off with a groan. "Madara. Wait," his eyes narrowed a little, "why would you have me meet you if the only issue is my. . . feelings for that girl? Unless. . . you're in love with Sakura too?"
Tobirama remained silent, though his maroon eyes narrowed dangerously.
"I'll take that as a yes, then," Izuna muttered with a frown, clearly unhappy at what he had just learned. Well, he did have a crush on a girl who had "saved" him, and now he finds out that his "rival" who lived in the same compound as the girl had a crush on her too. Ugh, why was this so unnecessarily complicated? It must be because he was an Uchiha; when an Uchiha experiences great pain or something like that, because Uchihas feel so deeply it triggers something or other and boom, you get demonic red eyes that do awesome genjutsu stuff.
Izuna sweatdropped, privately admitting to himself that yes, Madara was right, he really was terrible with his clan history and causes of his kekkei genkai. Hmph, well at least he had a kekkei genkai. What did the Senju have? Katana? He had one too!
Tobirama grew impatient with the other boy as he saw the plethora of emotions switching one after another on the Uchiha's face. Misreading the cause of them, Tobirama did something he had never done before but always scolded his older brother for doing so: he acted impulsively, rashly.
"Sakura is mine, so back off!"
Izuna and Tobirama's eyes widened when the words registered in their heads, but Tobirama was not about to take those words back. Nope, not at all. Some part of Tobirama regretted speaking on Sakura's behalf when he wasn't even sure if Sakura liked him, but it just felt instinctive.
"Has she confessed to you?" Izuna asked suddenly, jolting Tobirama out of his thoughts. "Or you to her?"
Surprised by how calmly the Uchiha was taking this, it was all Tobirama could do to shake his head numbly.
"Then like hell she's yours!" Izuna growled, simultaneously startling and causing anger to roil and burn in Tobirama's veins.
In one swift movement, Izuna unsheathed the katana he had at his side and ran across the river to strike Tobirama. Reflexes kicking into action, Tobirama brought out his own weapon and ran to meet Izuna in the middle, similar to how he had when their fathers had fought.
"Pity, we could've been great friends," Izuna muttered unhappily as he pushed. A thought struck him and he squeezed his eyes closed before snapping them open. Under the illusion that Izuna had awakened his Sharingan, Tobirama instinctively shut his eyes.
Taking advantage of this, Izuna brought up his knee to kick Tobirama's stomach before punching his face, sending him flying back a little.
"Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!"
Tobirama gritted his teeth and started weaving hand signs. "Water Style: Water-"
《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》
Madara looked up from where he was calmly sitting in a tree with Hashirama. "I think we should go separate them now," he said slowly. "Massive chakra influx."
Hashirama sighed. "But I don't wanna~!" he whined childishly. "I'm too comfortable to move right now."
Madara rolled his eyes and stood up, grabbing the collar of his friend's shirt. "How is it that you are a shinobi?" he muttered under his breath before jumping from his bough to a nearby one, travelling quite fast for one who is dragging a complaining child behind him.
He could see the small fireball racing towards Tobirama, who had immediately started a Water jutsu. Cursing his luck, Madara threw Hashirama at his brother, knocking Izuna into the water. Nope, he didn't regret "sacrificing" his friend; he had it coming for being so annoying.
Madara let Tobirama's Water jutsu do the work for him, but tackled the younger Senju onto land before he could take advantage of the steamy environment.
"How did you find us?" Tobirama spat, practically flinging Madara off him once the steam cleared. Hashirama and Izuna were sitting in the shallow end of the river, scowling darkly at a certain Uchiha who shrugged at them.
Hashirama rolled his eyes. "Really, Tobi? You were both using jutsu, it wasn't that hard to find you. And I thought you two agreed to be frenemies." He was playing dumb, because he sure as hell didn't want Tobirama to find out he had read his little "message".
Tobirama merely scowled darkly, and Madara raised an eyebrow.
"This is about Sakura, isn't it," he deadpanned, catching onto Hashirama's "act". He didn't want to be on the wrong end of Tobirama's apparently terrifying wrath, particularly if Izuna's was also thrown into the mix.
"Sakura-chan is not an object," Hashirama scolded. "She has her own right to who she chooses to love, and having a battle over it does not help in the slightest. Hypothetically, if Izuna were to win this battle - hypothetically, Tobi - Sakura could have feelings for Tobirama and Izuna would have to back off out of respect. . . and I say this again, hypothetically!"
The Uchiha heir facepalmed as the Senju heir threw his hands up in exasperation as he watched Tobirama first glare at him, and then smirk smugly at a fuming Izuna.
Izuna frowned and sheathed his katana, an idea popping into mind as he reluctantly offered a hand. "Truce?"
Tobirama stares at the hand before a smirk curled his lip and he too, put away his weapon and extended his hand. "Truce."
Hashirama and Madara both breathed quiet sigh of relief, although they weren't too sure that a rivalry to win Sakura's affections was much better. Hashirama internally groaned at the thought since Sakura was living with them, while Madara was hoping that Izuna wouldn't be looking for excuses to go to the Senju Compound.
Senju and Uchiha threw a parting smirk over their shoulders at each other, a single thought in their minds.
'I will not lose to you!'
