Chapter 3
3rd POV
Daichi was lost, Hinata just pretty much lost his family and was acting like his normal happy energetic self. Daichi was torn between being happy that Hinata was back to his normal self or being concerned that Hinata may have been pretending this whole time. He hoped that wasn't the case. Maybe Hinata just bounced back really quickly. Maybe it was just physically impossible for Hinata to not be energetic. There was no way that Hinata was faking it the whole time, that's not healthy, it would've definitely affected his playing and Daichi would've noticed. Regardless, Daichi was starting to realize that Hinata wasn't as easy to read as he'd originally thought, he would be keeping a closer eye on him from now on.
It had taken them about two hours to reach the school, when asked how Hinata did it every day he reminded them that it only took him about forty-five minutes on his bike. They were all a little early still but within the next twenty minutes, everyone else had arrived. When asked about it the third years and Hinata explained that it was late when they got to Hinata's house so they stayed over. Once on the bus, Hinata sat in the back with Kageyama like usual.
Kageyama was confused, he felt like the three third years were watching him or Hinata, he'd seen each of them look back at them at least twice. Maybe he had done something wrong? Kageyama thought back to what he could've possibly done to make anyone upset. Kageyama was pulled from his thoughts when he felt a small weight on his shoulder. Hinata had fallen asleep and ended up leaning on him.
"HEY-" Before Kageyama could finish yelling at the shorter boy to get off him he was cut off.
"Hey Kageyama, Hinata didn't get any sleep last night so do you think you could let him sleep on you, just till we get to Tokyo," Suga said.
"Tsk, fine."
"Thanks, I'm sure he will appreciate it."
Kageyama didn't think too much of it, besides Hinata wouldn't play well if he was tired and Kageyama couldn't have that. Suga was just happy Hinata finally felt relaxed enough to fall asleep, he was sure Asahi and Daichi were relieved too.
Once they arrived in Tokyo Kageyama gently shook Hinata trying to wake him up. Instantly he shot up and looked around. "Woah calm down it's just me," Kageyama said a little worried about how the spiker reacted to just being woken up.
"Oh, sorry, are we in Tokyo yet?" Hinata asked rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
"Yeah come on, we need to put our things in the room and then go eat dinner," Kageyama answered. Normally Hinata would get all excited about seeing all his friends but he just nodded and followed Kageyama off the bus. Kageyama almost asked about it but soon enough Hinata was acting like his normal self again so he forgot about it.
By the time they'd finished dinner, it was late and they were supposed to go to bed but several of the volleyball players had other plans. Hinata, Kageyama, Bokuto, Kuroo, Akaashi, and Lev decided to practice in one of the gyms. It was chaos the whole time, with Akaashi being the only one with any form of noise control it wasn't long before one of the coaches came in and shut it down telling all of them to just go to sleep.
When the two Karasuno first years got back to their team's room it was chaos. "What the heck is going on in here?" Hinata asked Noya who was still giggling a little at what was going on in front of them.
"Daichi made the mistake of asking Suga why he loved him. For the last thirty minutes, he's been running around and writing on the whiteboard explaining all the reasons. Daichi got the point a while ago but there was no stopping Sugawara so now we listen." Hinata paused Daichi loved Suga?
"Wait are Suga and Daichi together?" Hinata asked lost.
"Yeah, they've been together since they were first years. You didn't know?" Noya asked and Hinata just shook his head before sitting in between Noya and Kageyama. While Sugawara continued his rant to Daichi Hinata got lost in fault. If the two-third years were together then they shouldn't mind if Hinata was gay right? They had already promised that the whole team would support him no matter but this new knowledge made Hinata start to believe that they really might accept him.
Kageyama was concerned again, Hinata was way too quiet, it was weird. He decided he wouldn't just let it go this time. "Oi Hinata." He called pulling the shorter boy from his thoughts. "Outside now." He said standing up and leaving Hinata no choice but to follow.
"Oooooo get it Shoyo~" The Libro teased causing Hinata to blush.
"Hinata." The setter spoke up once they were a little bit away from the noise.
"Yeah what's up?"
"Are-" he paused wondering if he should even ask "are you ok?"
"Of course, why wouldn't I be?" Hinata answered, had he really been acting that different, he thought he was doing a pretty good job of acting like everything was fine.
"You just seem a little off that's all." Hinata decided to change the mood a bit by teasing Kageyama.
"Aww is Kageyama worried about me."
"Sh-shut up dumbass!" Kageyama stuttered. After seeing his reaction Hinata started laughing and for the first time all day, it was genuine.
